The patient history is a carefully told story that physicians interpret in order to develop a personalized treatment. This requires as much creative capacity from a physician as Salvador Dali’s surrealist paintings. Much like medicine, art is universal. The pursuit of health knows no boundaries or language barriers. Likewise, an appreciation for art does not rely on a repertoire of impressionist paintings or the ability to differentiate a haiku from a sonnet — it only depends on an individual’s capacity to perceive beauty. Our 23rd edition of SCOPE is presented to you with no theme, solely creative freedom. In the pages that follow you will fi nd inspiration in how abstract the medical community can be. So Eli thought she was drunk. 1 Sam 1:13 As I read this today, I tried to think back to those people that I wanted to have praying for me. There are some people who say "I'll pray for you", but there are those that you know will do it. I remember going to a See You At The Pole event while I was in college at Mizzou. We were standing on the steps, and some adults had shown up to support us and pray with and for us. In my group was a man from my church named Robert. As people went around the circle and prayed, Robert would utter quietly "Yes Lord", "Make it so Lord", and other statements to this effect. At first it bothered me, but then I realized what I am normally doing when I'm in a large group to pray. I pray, and then I sometimes listen to the other people, but more often I just start thinking of unrelated things and my mind would wander. Robert's method was odd to me at first, until I realized that he wanted to really be in prayer with every person as the prayers went around the circle. When I pray in a large group now, I listen to the person so I can pray with them and for them. In this passage, Eli the priest has never truly seen, experienced or uttered fervent prayer.

The impact of COVID-19 on the health of Californians is not yet fully known. Reported illness ranges from very mild (some people have no symptoms) to severe illness that may result in death. Certain groups, including people aged 65 or older and those with serious underlying medical conditions, such as heart or lung disease or diabetes, are at higher risk of hospitalization and serious complications. Transmission is most likely when people are in close contact with an infected person, even if that person does not have any symptoms or has not yet developed symptoms. Precise information about the number and rates of COVID-19 by industry or occupational groups, including among critical infrastructure workers, is not available at this time. There have been multiple outbreaks in a range of workplaces, indicating that workers are at risk of acquiring or transmitting COVID-19 infection. Examples of these workplaces include long-term care facilities, prisons, food production, warehouses, meat processing plants, and grocery stores. As stay-at-home orders are modified, it is essential that all possible steps be taken to ensure the safety of workers and the public. Key prevention practices include: ✓ physical distancing to the maximum extent possible, ✓ use of face coverings by employees (where respiratory protection is not required) and customers/clients, ✓ frequent handwashing and regular cleaning and disinfection, ✓ training employees on these and other elements of the COVID-19 prevention plan.

Moreover, the Book of Job is unique among the Hebrew-Christian canonical texts in the manner of its concern with law. Other canonical texts are dogmatic: they promulgate substantive law, God's particular laws or commands; or they make eloquent but relatively brief and cryptic assertions as to the nature of God's law for us.2 job, however, is analytical, philo- sophical. Even in so legalistic a culture as that of ancient Israel, job is the only canonical work devoted to an extended, radically critical exploration of such fundamental concepts as law, justice, and retribution in relation to the human context, the divine context, and the way in which these two contexts interpenetrate one another.
