VETRISELVAN Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state: (a) whether any projects have been identified and sanctioned by the CAPART in Tamil Nadu during the last three years and the current year; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) the assistance provided by the CAPART for those projects, NGOs-wise, project-wise; (d) whether the entire funds have been utilised by all the agencies; (e) if not, the reasons therefor; (f) whether the functioning of said agencies have been reviewed; (g) if so, the details thereof and progress made thereunder; (h) whether the complaints of misappropriation of funds by NGOs have been received by the Government; and (i) if so, the details thereof and the action taken against such NGOs? Answer MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT (SHRI SUBHASH MAHARIA) (a) to (e) The details of projects sanctioned and assistance provided by CAPART in Tamil Nadu during the last three years and the current year, NGO-wise, project-wise, is given at Annexure-1. The funds have been utilized fully under 50 completed projects, details of which are given at Annexure-II. The remaining projects are at various stages of implementation. (f)to (i) The CAPART has a system of monitoring and evaluation of the projects funded by it through empanelled project evaluators. Provisions are made to monitor projects at least at 3 stages, i.e., pre-funding appraisal before the project is sanctioned, mid-term appraisal before release of funds in the second and subsequent phases and post-evaluation after the project has been completed. It has a system for ensuring proper accountability of grants released by it to the voluntary organisations (VOs) for implementation of projects. Whenever, CAPART gets prima facie evidence that grants released by it have not been properly utilized by the VO or the promises made in the proposal have not been fulfilled during implementation of the project, a temporary funding restriction, namely, Further Assistance Stopped (FAS) is imposed on the erring VO. One complaint relating to misappropriation of funds has been received by the Government against a Tamil Nadu-based Voluntary Organisation, namely, Gramalya, Balai Road, District Trichy. The CAPART has imposed the funding restriction, `Further Assistance Stopped` (FAS) on the Voluntary Organisation. Sriram* ABSTRACT Hub and Spoke Model was established for dissemination of the innovative farming technologies at farmers’ doorstep. The study was conducted to measure the Effectiveness of Hub and Spoke Model for dissemination of innovative farm technologies at Tiruvannamalai district of Tamil Nadu. The respondents were selected by adopting purposive random sampling technique. A sample of 75 respondents from five villages of Polur block was selected for this study. The hub and spoke model was established and the knowledge gain of the subjects both at the pre and post exposure stages were collected using teacher made knowledge tests respectively. The data were collected using a well structured and pre-tested interview schedule. The data were analyzed by using appropriate statistical tools. The percentage of knowledge gained before the exposure to treatment was 40.20 per cent and after exposed it was 76.70 per cent. The mean knowledge gain is 36.50 per cent. The ‘t’ value 19.93 per cent indicates that the knowledge gained by the respondents was found to be significant at one per cent level. It was identified that there existed a significant differences in the effectiveness of the hub and spoke services in imparting knowledge. Abstract: India is the largest groundwater user in the world. Groundwater has played a significant role in the maintenance of India’s economy, environment and standard of living. Through the construction of millions of private bore wells, there has been an enormous growth in the exploitation of groundwater during the last five decades. Ground-water levels are controlled by the balance among recharge to, storage in, and discharge from an aquifer. Physical properties such as the porosity, permeability and thickness of the rocks or sediments that compose the aquifer affect this balance. Study of rainfall pattern is very important for understanding spatial and temporal variations in water levels. Ground water recharge and discharge, well ground water level and water quality ground water discharge and recharge are critical aspects of climate change. Present study, we have analyzed spatial distribution of ground water level and fluctuation of Tiruvannamalai District of Tamil Nadu, India. The ground water level samples are taken from 56 locations in study area. Physical, chemical and biological features in reservoirs are influenced by the seasonal surface level fluctuations, which are significantly associated with anthropogenic utilization.

    Palar Report The Palar River Basin is one of the major river basins in Tamilnadu. The main Palar River originates in Nandhi Durg, Kolar district at an elevation of 800 m above MSL in eastern part of Karnataka State, through Kolar and Bangarupet Taluks where it forms the very large Bethamangal tank, which is the main source of water supply to Kolar Gold Field and Bharath Earth Movers Limited. It leaves Karnataka border and flows through Andhra Pradesh for a small distance in Kuppam Taluk in Chitoor District and enters Vellore District of Tamil Nadu and passes through west of Vaniambadi Town and flows into the Bay of Bengal, east of Maduranthagam and south of Mahabalipuram. The total area of Palar River Basin is 17,633.19 sq.km which includes an area of 3,123 sq.km in Karnataka state, 4,267 sq.km in Andhra Pradesh and 10273.19 Sq Km in Tamil Nadu. It lies between 78°24’43” E, 12°36’26” N and 80°09’54” E, 12°31’26” N from east to west and between 79° 14’23”E, 13°10’21” N and 78°41’51” E, 12°14’05” N in north to south. The Index map is given in Figure 1. ABSTRACT The study area of Tiruvannamalai District lies between 11. 55° to 13. 15° North Latitudes and 78.20° to 79.50° East Longitudes. The North and west of Tiruvannamalai is covered by Vellore district and the southwest is by Krishnagiri District. Both Villupuram and Kanchipuram Districts are located in south and east side of Tiruvannamalai District respectively. The total geographical area of the district is 6191 sq.km. This paper is given total nine-fold classification of land in the district. The data has been used two different time periods (2007-08 and 2011-12). The present study deals with based on the secondary data of Gwritten. KEYWORDS: Agriculture, Cultivation, Statistics, Spatial, Nine-fold, Temporal.
