  • MINDSET of a SUCCESSFUL QUARTETTER Barbershop Parts Study - Playlist Observations
MINDSET OF A SUCCESSFUL QUARTETTER Barbershop Parts Study - Playlist Observations Click here: "Parts Study" Spotify Playlist Quartet Information & Listen Fors 1) “After Today” - Remake of the Acoustix version (BHS champs early 90’s.) • Attention to coming in and out of unison, solos and vocal gymnastics in all parts. • Smoothness with which parts hand off the melody to one another, beginning with a very melodic bass. • Color of the releases in all singers, along with a very consistent lift that does not sound contrived at all. • Vocal flexibility - These are all gals in their mid to late 50’s…all parts. While you can hear the maturity (and the benefit of having that experience), you can also hear a vibrance that comes only with vocal freedom. 2) “If I Were a Bell” • Flexibility and lightness (an ease with the vocal approach.) • Strong sprinkle of personality and FUN in it. • Notice the smoothness of the tenor and how she “tucks into” the chords and how she takes on the solo part more like a lead rather than an ensemble (as they all do in this quartet), which are very tightly voiced (notes close together to each other) • The chromatics around 1:40 are accurate and balanced well through all voice parts. The Buzz The • Again, the handoff of parts in shared melody is seamless. They ring, they buzz, hence their name. Listen for SAI Queens the chords to sound rich and full. Conventions in barbershop like bell chords, lead-ins, echoes, etc. are handled with aplomb and consistency. 3) “Back in Business” • This quartet is well-versed in all aspects of our craft.

  • A Review of the Post-WWII Baseball Card Industry
A Review of the Post-WWII Baseball Card Industry Artie Zillante University of North Carolina Charlotte November 25th,2007 1Introduction If the attempt by The Upper Deck Company (Upper Deck) to purchase The Topps Company, Inc. (Topps) is successful, the baseball card industry will have come full circle in under 30 years. A legal ruling broke the Topps monopoly in the industry in 1981, but by 2007 the industry had experienced a boom and bust cycle1 that led to the entry and exit of a number of firms, numerous innovations, and changes in competitive practices. If successful, Upper Deck’s purchase of Topps will return the industry to a monopoly. The goal of this piece is to look at how secondary market forces have shaped primary market behavior in two ways. First, in the innovations produced as competition between manufacturers intensified. Second, in the change in how manufacturers competed. Traditional economic analysis assumes competition along one dimension, such as Cournot quantity competition or Bertrand price competition, with little consideration of whether or not the choice of competitive strategy changes. Thus, the focus will be on the suggested retail price (SRP) of cards as well as on the timing of product releases in the industry. Baseballcardshaveundergonedramaticchangesinthepasthalfcenturyastheindustryandthehobby have matured, but the last 20 years have provided a dramatic change in the types of products being produced. Prior to World War II, baseball cards were primarily used as premiums or advertising tools for tobacco and candy products. Information on the use of baseball cards as advertising tools in the tobacco and candy industries prior to World War II can be obtained from a number of different sources, including Kirk (1990) and most of the annual comprehensive baseball card price guides produced by Beckett publishing.

Fall - Winter - 2021 Don’t Wait Until It Is Too Late! We just want to issue an availability warning. When the Colonial Pipeline hack occurred the sales of Jerry Cans went beserk! We sold every single can, regardless of size, within three days! (So did every other supplier). They were supposed to last us until late Fall. Now with Hurricane Ida, and the ensuing tornados and flooding in PA, NJ, and New York, we are getting deluged with orders once again. We have a container on the water, arriving mid-October, but there’s a hitch: the cost of shipping tripled! That will have to be reflected in the prices, obviously. Furthermore, the future prices look bleak. The cost of raw materials soared 27%, and that’ll make ‘em even more pricey on the next go-around! Therefore, we encourage you to stock up NOW, before you must pay a king’s ransom for these durable NATO Jerry Cans. 5 LITER CAN GP05 $49 10 LITER CAN GP10 $58 20 LITER CAN GP20 $65 SET OF 4 20 LITER CANS GP204 $239 GET YOUR SET OF 4 20 LITER CANS GP204 $239 Before It’s Issue 113 Too LATE!
