HouseholdKlemt, TH. of Klenk Lake et Lugano al. samples were taken from different basins of Lake Lugano, and the caesium 137 inventory and vertical distribution was measured. In all samples, a distinct maximum at a depth of 5 to 10 cm can be attributed to the 1986 Chernobyl fallout. Relatively high specific activities of 500 to 1,000 Bq/kg can still be found in the top layer of the sediment. 5 step extraction experiments on sediment samples resulted in percentages of extracted caesium which are a factor of 2 to 8 higher than those of Lake Constance, where caesium is strongly bound to illites. The activity concentration of the water of 3 main tributaries, of the outflow, and of the lake water was in the order of 5 to 10 mBq/l. 1 Introduction Lake Lugano with an area of 48.9 km2 and a mean depth of 134 m is one of the large drinking water reservoirs of southern Switzerland, in the foothills of the southern Alps. The initial fallout of Chernobyl caesium onto the lake was about 22,000 Bq/m2 [1], which is similar to the initial fallout of about 17, 000 Bq/m2 onto Lake Constance, which is located in the prealpine area of southern Germany (north of the Alps).

It is among the biggest lakes of Central Europe, along the Balaton and Lake Geneva. It is located at the border of Switzerland, Germany and Austria. At the same time, it is a very interestingly located one, surrounded by the Alpine mountains, allowing to observe many peaks, and numerous castles if the weather allows. The lake is encircled by a cycling route, making the trip a safe and comfortable one. Due to minor elevations we recommend the tour even for beginners and families with children. Arrival: By plane – the easiest way is coming by plane to Friedrichshafen, Stuttgart or Zurich. Most flights can be booked to Zurich, often at a reasonable price.     Bodenseefahrt, 4. Bericht: Affenberg bei Salem, Heiligenberg, Meersburg, Friedrichshafen Am Sonntag, den 20. Mai, verließen wir den angenehmen Campingplatz bei Salem und machten zuerst einen Abstecher zum Affenberg unweit von Salem. In einem eingezäunten Waldgebiet leben hier ca. 200 Berberaffen. Für 7 € / Person (Senioren brauchten einen Euro weniger zu bezahlen als „Erwachsene“) wurden wir in das Gehege hineingelassen, nachdem man uns über die Verhaltensweise instruiert hatte. Shenja füttert mit Popcorn, das wir für gratis am Eingang einer Kiste entnommen hatten. Die Affen halten sich im Wald, auf Wiesen, auf Bäumen und entlang des eingegrenzten Rundweges auf. Nur die letzteren darf man füttern. Sie leben in 3 Gruppen, jede mit ihrem Anführer und Anführerin. In ihrer Heimat (Marokko und Algerien) sind sie fast ausgestorben. Salem hat schon mal einige Hundert in Marokko ausgewildert. Ein Berberaffe wird bis zu 30 Jahre alt. Ein typischer Gruppenanführer ist 10 bis 15 Jahre alt. Der männliche Anführer wird es durch Tricks und indem er sich eine Anhängerschaft sichert. Die weibliche Anführerin vererbt ihr Amt an die älteste Tochter. Im Alter von etwa 5 Jahren wechseln männliche Tiere oft die Gruppe (Blutsvermischung). Am Gehege leben auch Unmengen an Störchen. Sie klapperten fleißig mit ihren Schnäbeln. Wir bewunderten auch die zahlreich vorhandenen kapitalen Exemplare von Karpfen im Teich des ehemaligen Bauernhofes am Gehege. Außerdem lebt in der Anlage Damwild (ein Platzhirsch mit ca. 20 Hirschkühen und –kälbern). Man muss also nicht unbedingt nach Gibraltar fahren, um Berberaffen zu sehen. Den Nachmittag des 20. Mai verbrachten wir in 750 m Höhe im Ort Heiligenberg. Auch hier gab es einen wunderbaren Wohnmobilstellplatz.

Präsident der Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika und Friedensnobelpreisträger im Jahr 1906. Selbsthilfe- und Hospizgruppen übernehmen genau diese wichtige Aufgabe und tragen so zu noch mehr Solidaritätsgefühl im Bodenseekreis bei. Menschen in Selbsthilfegruppen bieten sich gegenseitigen Halt, ge- ben sich praktische Tipps und leisten Unterstützung. Ein Austausch über Erfahrungen im Hinblick auf emo- tionale, soziale, praktische, medizinische und recht- liche Aspekte ist dabei wertvoll und auch tröstend. Gemeinschaftliche Selbsthilfe ist eine besondere Form der Gesundheitsförderung, die eben nur Betroffene für Betroffene leisten können. Ehrenamtlich engagierte Frauen und Männer in Hos- pizgruppen setzen sich für Schwerstkranke, Sterbende und deren Nahestehende ein, sie begleiten und un- terstützen in dieser schwierigen Lebensphase. Die Hospizarbeit orientiert sich dabei an den Bedürfnissen und Rechten der schwerstkranken und sterbenden Menschen, ihrer Angehörigen und Freunde. Dabei steht die Würde des Menschen am Lebensende und der Erhalt größtmöglicher Autonomie im Mittelpunkt. Krzemnicki, Davy Carole, and Florian Faure The gem-bearing reliquary known as the Talisman of Charlemagne is closely associated with the history of Europe. Its legend follows such figures as Charlemagne, Napoleon I, Empress Josephine, Hortense de Beauharnais, Napoleon III, and Empress Eugénie. This study provides new historical information collected in France, Germany, and Switzer- land about the provenance of this exceptional jewel, which contains a large glass cabochon on the front, a large blue-gray sapphire on the back, and an assortment of colored stones and pearls. The first scientific gemological analysis of this historical piece, carried out on-site at the Palace of Tau Museum in Reims, France, has made it possible to identify the colored stones and offer insight into their possible geographic origins. Based on our data and com- parison with similar objects of the Carolingian period, we propose that the blue-gray sapphire is of Ceylonese (Sri Lankan) origin, that the garnets originate from India or Ceylon, and that most of the emeralds are from Egypt except for one from the Habachtal deposit of Austria. River Rhine flows through the lake. At the lakeside and in shallow shore zones, erosion and vegeta­ tion damages have been observed. Long-term changes in the water-level can be one of the causes of erosion processes and were investigated in this study. Also possible causes of these changes were taken into consideration. The results of frequency and trend analysis and Gaussian low pass filtering show that the water level of Lake Constance and its regime has changed. Mean annual water levels (Untersee), discharges (Alpenrhein and Hochrhein), and areal precipitation depths have remained nearly constant. Peak water levels and discharges have dropped, low water levels and discharges have increased. On the contrary, the mean annual water level of Obersee has dropped, low water levels have remained constant. The changes in water level have probably been caused by changes of hydraulic conditions in the outflow-regions of the lake. This process has been superposed by development and operation of storage reservoirs (hydropower purposes) in the catchment area of the Alpenrhein. Its seasonal runoff regime has been strongly influenced by an increase of low discharge, predominantly in the winter and a decrease of peak discharge in the summer.
