Any member of the club can lead a walk. If you need Well folks the programme is looking pretty good - if you advice as to the procedure for leading walks, or would like like weekend walks ... but please we are very short of day to lead a walk but want a more experienced club member walks of all types. How about getting out those maps to find to assist you on your first walk please call me; this is easy a few day walks. TRANSPORT

Costs are presently 25 cents per kilometre per car divided equally among ALL participants. This amount is a guide only and can be varied at the discretion of the leader depending on the condition of the roads, the number of passengers per car and othe factors. The figures given for individual trips are rough estimates only,based on fourpeople per car, and other factors - the costs may rise if cars are only partly filled. Park admission and camping fees are additional costs which leaders should list separately. Members are reminded that bookings close at 2.00pm on Thursday.

He (NOT the police or other bodies) should be the first point of contact for worried relatives if you are late returning from a trip. Leaders must also report the safe return OR cancellation of their trip to the check-in-officer.

Sunday March 13 - Long Point to Badgerys Spur - M/M/W This is a classic walk along one of the most beautiful parts of the Shoalhaven Gorge. We descend the track from Long Point to the warmest river in the area, and at the end of the walk, ascend the Badgerys Spur track. It is necessary to cross the river which may be best done by a swim so waterproof your pack. The stretch along the river is mainly easy going but with some fairly gentle rock-hopping. Lunch (prolonged) is at an idyllic spot with a wide sandy beach, magnificent views and a good swimming hole. Map: Caoura 1:25000 Leader: Vance Brown 2513997 (home). Transport Costs: about $18. A car shuffle is necessary. Page 4 Sunday March 13 - Blue Gum Creek - M/R After walking up to Booroomba Rocks we propose to drop down into Blue Gum Creek and follow it down to Bushfold Flats. March 12-13 - Mt Hoddle - M/M From the Nerriga entrance to the Budawangs we will proceed past Round Mt and then south to visit Mt Hoddle and Hoddle's Castle Hill. March (12)-13 - Cave Beach Gourmet, Jervis Bay Nature Reserve - M/M We will leave Canberra about lunch time Saturday, giving time for optional strolls around Cave Beach & Bherwerre Beach, before a night of indulgence. After a sleep in we will walk from Sumrnercloud Bay to St Georges Head via rocks, small secluded beaches and bush tracks. Saturday March 26 - Bike Ride McEahnie Falls by bike - M/M A repeat of a trip I led 18mths ago, however this time we will not go if it is raining. McEahnie Falls are on the northern side of Mt Bimberi and are rarely visited. We will ride from Orroral to near the Cotter Hut. The walk from there is about 7kms return. Sunday March 27 - and Wanganderry Creek - M/M A walk in the Southern Highlands area north of Mittagong. From Point Hill we will descend to the Nattai River via Starlights Trail and walk downstream to the river'sjunction with Wanganderry Creek. We expect impressive views of the surrounding sandstone cliffs and, hopefully, good swinmiing at the river/creek junction and beilbirds. For Bonnum Pic enthusiasts a chance to see the Wanganderry Tableland area from a different perspective. Map: Hilltop 1:25000. Sunday March 27 - Bulls Head, Moonlight Hollow Road - S/E Walk from Bullshead high in the Brindabellas along a litde used and closed Moonlight Hollow Road. Above are trees with locked crowns, below in the shadows are burbling creeks, large ferns, chatteringbirds, wallabies and an ever present aroma of eucalyptus. Will visit Bendoura Hut And Arboretum. The arboretum is an experimental planting ofinteresting and unusual trees established in 1940. They consist ofCobberas No I and No 2 and several minor peaks including Cleft Peak and Moscow Peak. These peaks are quite isolated and hence seldom visited compared to other peaks in the . Access for this walk will be via the Barry Way and Black Mountain Track to Native Dog Flat. The route is yet to be finalised but will include Cleft and Moscow Peaks and Cobberas I and 2. W This is another exploratory trip in the Coricudgy area. We will drive to past Ryistone on Thursday night. On Friday we follow the Morundilla trail north-east, then drop into Blackwater Creek. I will attempt an exit to the Mount Coricudgy - Mount Baker ridge up the tributary which joins Blackwater Creek at GR 568 687. If this doesn't go, we'll take another route out via Ross Castle. Time permitting we will take a ridge offMt Davis to Coricudgy Creek, walk upstream throughjones Hole, over the ridge towards Gavins Creek, then follow the trail back to the Sawmill ruins. Ascend Mt Kelly Friday morning; then follow the ridge all around to Yaouk Gap and past Binburi Creek; then down to Creamy Flat and Rendezous Creek to the cars. We will camp as appropiate. Saturday April 9 - Bike Ride - Googong Dam (about 55kms - Rough in places) Cycle from Queanbeyan to Googong Darn, then along the shore of the Dam, via a fire trail, to London Bridge.The fire trail is quite rough. Sunday April 10 - Bungonia Gorge, - M/M-R We will descend into the spectacular Bungonia Gorge via the steep Red Track. Our route then proceeds through the sheer rock-walled gorge to the famous "boulders". To get past these it is necessary, in places, to go round, over, under and through them; so be prepared for some scrambling (this is the rough bit). Then there is a straightforward walk along Bungonia Creek to the Shoalhaven and a little gentle rock-hopping to reach a delightful sandy lunch spot with the swimming hole. The return to the cars is via a direct route,

April 9-10 - Hume and Hovell Track: Brindabella Road to the Snowy Mts Highway - LIE This is a beautiful section ofthe track, taking in sedgeland and snowgum woodland ofMicalong Swamp Flora Reserve, Mt Nimbo, The Hole, waterfalls and wet forest through to Thomas Boyd Trackhead at Goobarragandra (where we'll camp), then over a metal swing bridge and through more wet forest to reach the Snowy Mountains Highway south ofTumut. Tuesday 12 April - IT Collation 8pm at the home of Henry Burmester, 29 Quandong St, O'Connor. Sunday April 17 - Googong Dam, Gormans Trig, London Bridge - M-LIE Starting from Googong Dam we will climb Gormans trigfor sweeping views of Canberra, Queanbeyan and the dam below. Will continue to walk the length of the Googong reservoir to London Bridge, a natural stone archway. En route will visit an old homestead complex that dates back to the 1870s. Fax details to Maurice 2391369 April 6-17 Orroral Valley, Dunn's Flat, Bimberi, Ginini Car Swap - LIE This trip rarely gets many starters, but they claim to enjoy it... From Orroral, travel via track through Cotter Gap to lunch at Cotter Flat then climb track through Murray's Gap to magnificent campsite at Dunn's Flat. Next day up Bimberi (highest peak in ACT) for great views, thence descend to track to Ginini (or Orroral ifinsufficient for car swap). Warning: The "E" is terrain. Distance is well over20KM per day, with climbing, so trip is not easy. Maps: Rendezvous Creek, Corin Dam 1:25000. Leader: Alan Vidler. Transport about $8. April 16-17 - Mts Bimberi and Morgan - MIM Bimberi (1 900m) and Morgan (1880) are reputed to be the highest peaks north ofKoscuisko. They provide superb alpine and sub alpine walking with panoramic views. On Saturday we will walk via tDldfields hut to the campsite at Dunn's Flat and climb Bimberi without packs. An early start on Sunday for a scenic walk with day-packs to the base of the Castle, through Castle Gap, and onto Byangee Mountain via an easy scramble up a steep gully. We will explore the top ofByangee and walk out towards Pickering Point. There will be great views of the Castle, Shrouded Gods, Clyde Gorge and other parts of the Central Budawangs. Limit of 12.
