University of Scouting (UoS) is the premier training council event of the year. Because successful units are led by trained leaders, UoS provides an opportunity for Scouters to receive supplemental and position specific training. There are also classes for youth leaders and commissioners. We encourage your leadership team to attend UoS together.

Registering for University of Scouting *Visit www.atlantabsa.org/university to register. You may register as a group or as an individual. *Pre-Registration: We encourage you to pre-register. Pre-registration includes classes, 2020 UoS patch, and lunch. *Early Bird registration is open from December 7- December 31, 2019. $15.00 *General Registration is from January 1, 2020 - February 23. $20.00 *Walk-Up Registration: Walk-Up Registrations are welcome on February 29, 2020. Walk-up registration is $30.00 (lunch and patch are on a first come first serve basis for walk-up registrants.) *Classes: Before selecting your classes, be sure to review this entire packet, including the description of classes. There are classes for your specific Scouting area as well as a variety of classes that span across all of the Scouting areas to enhance your supplemental training. The day is structured with six periods that includes two lunch periods. All classes are only offered once. We encourage unit leaders to attend together so your unit can gain as much of the valuable information offered as possible. *Lunch Period: Make sure to select a lunch break (period 3 or 4). *CPR class requires an additional fee of $45.00, paid through the same UoS registration. *Walking Sticks class requires an additional fee of $15.00, paid through the same UoS registration. *Editing Registrations: Once you or your unit have registered, you may go back into the website and edit your registration. Edit capabilities will end on February 10.

Additional Information to Help Your UoS Day Be a SUCCESS! *Hours and Class periods: Doors open at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020. Opening Ceremony will start at 8:20 a.m. There are 6 periods throughout the day. Most of the classes are scheduled for one period (50 minutes). There are some classes, such as position specific courses and Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops, which are scheduled for multiple periods. Be sure to consult the schedule so you do not overlap your classes. Period 1 9:00 to 9:50 Period 2 10:00 to 10:50 Period 3 11:00 to 11:50 (Lunch A) Period 4 12:00 to 12:50 (Lunch B) Period 5 1:00 to 1:50 Period 6 2:00 to 2:50

*Lunch: A sack lunch is included in your registration fee if you pre-register. There are two lunch periods (periods 3 and 4). We will make every effort to provide a lunch for those who register on February 29, 2020, but lunch is not guaranteed. If you would like to eat lunch with your fellow unit leaders, please be sure to schedule accordingly. Multiple session classes may already have scheduled lunch periods. *Parking and Carpooling: We encourage your unit to carpool. Look for signs to know where UoS parking is permitted. Primary parking will be in Lot F. Additional parking is available in the SHS Lot close to the Athletics & Sports Health Science Building, known as the SHS Building. *Packets for those who pre-register and ALL Walk-Up Registration will be in the Center for Graduate and Undergraduate Studies Building, known as the CGUS building. *Youth Classes: There are several Youth Leadership classes being offered at UoS. There are also other classes that youth age 14+ are welcome to join adults in. These classes are designated with a star. *Outdoor Classes: Some classes will be outside, such as cooking classes. We encourage you to bring layers to help you keep warm and comfortable inside and out. These classes are designated on the schedule with a triangle. *Midway: We invite you to explore and enjoy the midway before Opening Ceremonies, in between classes, and during your lunch period. There will be many booths from Scouting committees and businesses that are related to Scouting activities. These will help you to enhance your unit’s experiences. Opens at 7:45. *Individual Schedules: A detailed schedule, including class numbers and a campus map, will be given to each participant at check-in Saturday morning. *Scouting Fun and Learning: Scouting is always more fun with a friend! We invite you to bring at least one friend to learn and have a fun University of Scouting day with. *Childcare is NOT available. *No smoking on campus.

The course will also help those who might have trained for other organizations learn the BSA's training techniques & help freshen up the skills of current BSA trainers. Upon completion of The Fundamentals of Training, new trainers will be able to apply the 12:00 pm to techniques they have learned across the BSA's leadership 3 Hours 4-6 2:50 pm development programs from unit-level youth leader training taught by youth for youth, to position-specific and supplemental training for adult leaders.
