Mogontiacunt? (Capital of Superior; modern .) CIL, 13: 11834, is a Third-Century inscription containing the words "innocenti spirito," perhaps indicative of Christianity. Bishop Martin's name is found in the list for the so-called Council of in 346; see Concilia Galliae, 27. He is possibly to be identified with the Gallic bishop Martin who attended the Council of Serdica in 343 but whose see is unidentified; Athanasius, Apologia contra Arianos, 49.1. Ammianus Marcellinus, 27.10.1-2, records that Rando, chief of the Alamanni, attacked the city during a Christian festival in 368. Heine• meyer, 7-11.
