Clitheroe Royal Grammar School is based on firm values and traditions and provides not only outstanding academic opportunities, but also an environment where each student can develop essential life skills. The school is a mixed, selective 11-18 Academy school rated as outstanding by Ofsted. Tuition is entirely free. Entry to the school is by selection at 11+. Places will be offered to those children who, through the selection procedure, prove that they are suited to the type of education provided at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School. The approved admission number is 150 each year and pupils who are usually in their year 6 at primary school are eligible to enter. The school is required to comply with the Lancashire Co- ordinated Scheme for secondary school admissions to year 7. But you may not have realised that our graduate placement, Jayne Ashe, has made a head start and has been busy supporting and co-ordinating a new 'Pendle Hill Volunteers Group' over the last year. The volunteers have been able to carry out small-scale tasks to improve the local environment of the hill, including woodland management, surveying, removal of invasives and hedgelaying amongst other things. We see this group growing and developing as the Pendle Hill LP begins its delivery phase next year. Ribble Rivers Trust have been going from strength to strength recently, with new initiatives and projects sprouting up across the AONB, including the ambitious and exciting 'Ribble Life Together' catchment- wide initiative and the River Loud Farmer Facilitation Group. -

LANCASHIRE SCHOOLS FORUM Date of meeting 4 July 2017 Item No 6 Title: Recommendations of the Schools Block Working Group Annexes 1, 2, 3 and 4 refer Executive Summary On 20 June 2017, the Schools Block Working Group considered a number of reports, including: o 2016/17 Schools Budget Outturn Report – Schools Block; o School Balances and Clawback 2016/17; o Schools Block Budget; o Schools Heading Towards Financial; o School Expansion Policy (Growth Fund); o Devolved Formula Capital (DFC); o Charging for Admissions Appeals; o Payment and Recoupment of DSG Funding for Non Maintained Establishments; o Urgent Business Procedure: DfE Consultation: Changes to the criteria for agreeing loan schemes; o Schools Financial Value Standard (SFVS); o Surface Water and Highways Drainage Charges; o Schools Forum Annual Report 2016/17; o Any Other Business; o Venue for Future Meetings. A summary of the key issues and recommendations arising from the Working Group's considerations of the items are provided in this report. Recommendations The Forum is asked to: a) Note the report from the Schools Block Working Group held on 20 June 2017; b) Ratify the Working Group's recommendations. Background On 20 June 2017, the Schools Block Working Group considered a number of reports. A summary of the key issues and recommendations arising from the Working Group's considerations of the items are provided in this report. 1. 2016/17 Schools Budget Outturn Report – Schools Block In advance of expected national regulations to ring-fence the Schools Block ahead of the proposed Schools National Funding Formula (SNFF), the Forum has agreed that in principle the Lancashire allocations will be ring-fenced in the first instance. -
Review of the Borough of Ribble Valley
Boundary Review Review of The Borough of Ribble Valley Ribble Valley Borough Council - Warding Proposal To the Local Government Boundary Commission for England January 2017 Ribble Valley Borough Council set up a cross‐party working group to consider proposals on the warding patterns with support from officers. The group recognised that changes were required in order to gain electoral equality across the borough. Some wards are already outside the +/- 10% variance and other wards will be by 2022 following expected development. The electoral forecast for 2022 is 48,027 which equates to 1,201 electors per Councillor (currently 1136). The working group worked on a number of options. The working groups preferred option was submitted to Policy and Finance Committee on 24 January and the committee approved the option being submitted as the Council’s proposals. The Council has followed the principle of trying to keep parishes as a whole, however it was considered it was impossible to make the numbers up (retaining 40 members) without splitting two parishes. Please find below the Council’s proposals: The Proposals Having considered the forecast electorate and warding it is recommended that remaining with 40 Councillors would provide efficient and effective representation to the public and best enable appropriate warding proposals. Calculations based on alternative numbers of Councillors, for example 41, didn’t work across the borough and in some wards created even bigger variances. The review started by looking at the wards at the outermost edges of the borough in the north east and south west of the borough - as there is less scope for changes to boundaries in these areas due to being surrounded by other boroughs.
