Modeltude Agency presents a prom-themed fashion show featuring designs from Dress Up of Dallas, Texas. Miss Latina Meet and Greet (1:30 – 2:00) Location: Pecan Room 2, Civic Center Join us for a meet and greet with Miss Teen Dallas Latina Emily Reyes, Miss Teen Fort Worth Latina Viviana Santos, and Miss Teen Irving Ana Sanchez as they discuss their ambitions and pageant journeys. Special screening of “The Souls of Black Girls” and panel discussion (1:30 - 3:30) Location: Council Chambers, DeSoto City Hall Best Southwest Everything Teen Expo 2017 hosts a special screening of “The Souls of Black Girls”. The producer Daphne Valerius is on site for a panel discussion with our teens after the film and to discuss her sequel, The Souls of Black Girls Too! This news documentary raises the question of whether or not women of color may be suffering from a self-image disorder as a result of trying to attain the standards of beauty celebrated in images of the mass media. This film features candid interviews with Rapper Chuck D and actresses Regina King and Jada Pinkett Smith. The State of the Teen Address (2:15 - 2:45) Location: Outside Amphitheater Pastor Vernon King Jr., Youth Director of Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship and Founder of Motivatin Youth Company will inspire and motivate teens to dismiss and take a stand against the negative images that society labels them with and to passionately go after fulfilling their purpose and potential. UrbanGirlz Magazine (10:00 - 3:00) Location: Outside Breezeway Teens from UrbanGirlz Magazine are on site to interview teens on their Teen Expo experience.
