THE WALES REPORT WITH HUW EDWARDS Sunday, November 4, BBC One Wales, 10.25pm A few days before voters across the United States go to the polls in the Presidential Election, Huw Edwards presents The Wales Report from across the Atlantic. “I hope to visit the key swing state of Ohio,” said Huw Edwards, “and talk to some voters there in one of the communities originally settled by the Welsh from Ceredigion.” Huw will be in the United States as one of the US Election team for BBC News, presenting and reporting for news programmes on BBC One and the BBC News Channel. Adam Price - the former Plaid Cymru MP for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr who swapped politics for academia at Harvard - will also offer a personal view on the differences between elections in Wales and America. Melfyn Clwyd Roberts VICAR ACADEMY Monday, November 5, BBC One Wales, 10.35pm It’s the end of the college year for the students of the Church in Wales’ St Michael’s College in Cardiff and in the final Vicar Academy there’s the traditional end of year service before third year students take on their new ministries. All is revealed on the big question of whether student vicar Roz will stay at the college or not. The end of year service is emotional for the third years as they are sent to their new ministries with the blessings of fellow students and lecturers. At their ordinations in Brecon and St David’s Cathedral, the new vicars prepare for the traditional laying on of hands from the Bishops, a symbolic reflection of Jesus’s laying on of hands of his disciples. We also catch-up with the ordained vicars as they settle into their parishes, with Stephen Bunting in Mumbles, Swansea and Alex Grace in Tenby. Nigel Partridge WELSH GREATS: PHILIP MADOC Wednesday, November 7, BBC One Wales, 7.30pm A special Welsh Greats programme examines the life and work of Merthyr-raised Philip Madoc. Madoc became known for such TV roles as SS Lutzig in the 60s drama Manhunt, Magua in The Last of the Mohicans and a German Captain in Dad’s Army, in what’s hailed as one of the funniest TV comedy moments. Doctor Who fans will also know him from the Dalek – Invasion Earth 2150 AD film as well as the TV series. Madoc was also popular for his Welsh language roles including the 2007 S4C series, Y Pris and A Mind to Kill / Noson yr Heliwr series which was produced back to back. One of his defining roles in Wales was of course BBC Cymru Wales’ The Life and Times of David Lloyd George. His distinctive voice and rich Welsh tones also made him a popular radio actor and narrator. The programme features interviews with his sister; his former wife, actress Ruth Madoc and their son Rhys. Mari Williams POBOL Y CWM Llun-Gwener, Tachwedd 5-9, BBC Cymru ar S4C, 8pm Monday-Friday, November 5-9, BBC Wales on S4C, 8pm bbc.co.uk/pobolycwm Hir yw pob ymaros, ac wedi blynyddoedd o ddyheu am ei babi ei hun, daw’r amser i Ffion i roi genedigaeth. Mae’r foment yn ormod i Jinx ond yn ffodus i bawb mae Hywel wrth law i gymryd yr awenau. Ynghanol gwewyr y geni dywed Ffion rhywbeth sy’n gwneud i Hywel amau yn gryf mai ef yw’r tad biolegol, sy’n ei ddychryn, ond sydd hefyd yn ei orfodi i aros gyda Ffion dros yr enedigaeth. Wedi cyrraedd adref mae Hywel yn rhannu rhywfaint o’r wybodaeth yma gyda Gaynor, sydd yn ei gwylltio i fynnu prawf DNA er mwyn cael sicrwydd nad Hywel yw’r tad. Mae’r canlyniad yn sioc anferth i bawb! Tra bod Hywel ynghanol helbul y geni, ac fel syrpreis iddo, mae Gaynor wedi gwisgo’r ‘negligé’ a gafodd fel anrheg gan ei gŵr. Caiff dipyn o syndod pan mae’n agor drws y tŷ ac yn hytrach na gweld Hywel, fe wêl Macs yn sefyll yno yn geg-agored! Mae Ricky eisiau dial ar Eifion am ddweud wrth Mark ei fod wedi dwyn o’r siop ac aiff ef a Cameron ati i greu tipyn o helynt ym Mhenrhewl. Wrth geisio dod o hyd i’r bechgyn drwg, caiff Eifion ei anafu’n wael â’i gymryd i’r ysbyty. O ganlyniad, ni fydd yn medru gweithio ar y fferm am dipyn, ond a fydd Debbie a Mark yn cydymdeimlo? After years of longing for a baby of her own, Ffion finally goes into labour. Jinx is totally useless but Hywel is on hand to take control. Not wanting him near her, Ffion says something that makes Hywel really believe that he is the father so he’s unwilling to leave before the little girl is born. Already, Hywel is developing a bond with who he believes to be his daughter so Gaynor insists on a paternity test for proof either way. But the results come as a shock to everyone, especially Ffion. While Hywel is playing midwife, Gaynor is waiting for her husband to come home in her sexy new birthday present. Thinking that it’s part of the game, she answers the front door in her negligée, not to Hywel, but an open-mouthed Macs! Ricky wants revenge on Eifion and so he and Cameron cause havoc at Penrhewl. Whilst trying to find the naughty boys, Eifion is badly injured and is taken to hospital. As a result, he won’t be able to work on the farm for a while, but will Mark and Debbie be sympathetic?
