I could not find any record of Philip still living with his parents in the census of 1891. He is now aged 17 and it looks as if he has left home to find work. However in the 1891 census there is a Philip Miller listed at: Stratton Audley, Oxfordshire. Phillip Miller [note spelt with two LL’s common error] Aged 17 Born Manchester Employed as a groom [This was his occupation throughout his working life so I am confident that this is our Philip Miller]. The census form for some reason does not show an address or a head of Household Public Record Office: RG12/1171 Number of Schedule: 74 Civil Parish: Stratton Audley Village: Stratton Audley Ecclesiastical Parish: Stratton Audley The entry 74, shows that quite a number of grooms were employed as well as other servants.
