Parish of Burbage was formed from Hartington Upper Quarter in 1869] Philip had twin sisters, Mary and Elizabeth. Philip Miller 1891 Census. Now aged 17yrs. I could not find any record of Philip still living with his parents in the census of 1891. He is now aged 17 and it looks as if he has left home to find work. However in the 1891 census there is a Philip Miller listed at: Stratton Audley, Oxfordshire. Phillip Miller [note spelt with two LL’s common error] Aged 17 Born Manchester Employed as a groom [This was his occupation throughout his working life so I am confident that this is our Philip Miller]. The census form for some reason does not show an address or a head of Household Public Record Office: RG12/1171 Number of Schedule: 74 Civil Parish: Stratton Audley Village: Stratton Audley Ecclesiastical Parish: Stratton Audley The entry 74, shows that quite a number of grooms were employed as well as other servants. Listed as a visitor on the census day is. Colonel John P Brabazon Aide de Camp to the Queen [Victoria?] with his soldier servant. The funeral took place on the 10th of February of Mr.Philip Miller of Dorset Close, Stapenhill, formerly of Hartford, Cheshire. The service was conducted at Staplenhill Parish Church. The Vicar the Rev. T. Hornby Priestnall, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Cuthbert Mather. Mr. C. Haywood was at the organ. The Hymns were: ‘For ever with the Lord,’ ‘Thine forever God of Love,’ ‘The Saints of God their conflict past,’ and the 23rd Psalm. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. Vale of Stapenhill, and the grave was beautifully lined with moss. The chief mourners were: The widow Mrs. E Miller, Mr RP Miller, Mr. WS Miller, Mr JH Miller and Mr CR Miller (sons), Mrs T Goodall (daughter) , Mr T Goodall (Son-in-law), Mr Tom Miller (brother), Mrs. Naden and Mrs. Barnes (sisters), Miss B. Goodall (granddaughter), Mr.and Mrs. Thackwell, Mr and Mrs T. Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Allen. Wreaths were from:- His Wife Elizabeth (Peace Perfect Peace); Reg and Evelyn; Willie and Ethel; George and Vi; Ronald and Maud; Gladys and Tom; Will and Betty; Harry, Nellie and Dorothy; Jim and Maggie; Mary and Bessie; Annie and Sidney; Philip; Tom and Lily; Jack and Annie; Roy and Lottie; Charlie and Constance; Georgie and Polly; Mr. and Mrs. Thackwell; Mr. and Mrs. Adams; and friends in Dorset Close. Willie Dorothy and Madge Children of Philip Miller and Elizabeth Newman were as follows: i Philip Reginald2 Miller , born 1898 in Altrincham Cheshire; died 1975 in Buried at Newtown Staffs. He married in Marriage Place Not Known Evelyn Modwena (Staley) Miller, born 1905 in Bretby; died 7 Jan 1954 in Upper Linbrook, Needwood, Burton on Trent; buried in Newchurch Churchyard, daughter of Bernard Staley and Sarah (Crofts) Staley. Notes: Extract from the Burton Daily Mail Saturday 21st October 1944 B.E.M FOR HANBURY AIRMAN The award of the B.E.M. (Military Division) to Corporal Reginald Philip Miller, R.A.F; of Hanbury – an engineer before he joined the service in 1941 – for “Fine courage in saving a pilot’s life.” Was announced this morning. The citation states that in April 1944 an Oxford aircraft crashed and caught fire. The pilot was trapped by his feet and unable to release himself. Corporal Miller who was in the vicinity hurried to the scene of the accident and immediately endeavoured to extricate the airman, who was surrounded by the flames.

The proposed development, known as Branston Road High School (BRHS) will cater for both secondary and sixth form students and is estimated to open for use in 2018, with full occupancy anticipated by 2022, whereby the school will have 1440 student places and 182 members of staff. Consideration has been given to both local and national policy in line with the BRHS development, with particular reference to the East Staffordshire Borough Council Local Plan 2012 – 2031, where its conclusion marks the end of our Future Year assessment scenario. The existing sustainable transport provisions are detailed, together with the proposed expansion and significant improvement of infrastructure to further promote sustainable modes of travel to and from the BRHS development.
