Strobe Edge is one of my favorite series and one I've read multiple times too! Ah, now I remember seeing it at the store. The art looked good, though the girl has amazingly huge eyes, even for manga The artwork threw me off in the first couple of volumes, because some of the characters sort of blended together. Strobe Edge (manga) - Anime News Network:W Needless to say, Strobe Edge has become my absolute favourite shojo series. Please keep in mind that my rating is in context of comparing Strobe Edge as a shojo manga strictly to other series in the genre. We know what Ren and Ninako become a couple in the end. We know it from the moment that Ninako confesses to Ren at the train station and he turns her down. Both needed to take a big step away from each other because both of them had changed. MVPs of the series would have to be Ando. Character that I wish the story focused more on is definitely Yu. Although his back story wrapped up nicely, I wish he was given a bonus short on the side. Even Manebu got a love story spotlight! Io Sakisaka planned the story well in that Ninako was the one to make the decisive move on Strobe Edge: 05. Did I mention that Ninako takes a wrong Strobe Edge: 05 on the chair and falls? I mean. And I was shocked too. It was something of an accident that could have gone horribly wrong, turned into an immensely sweet moment. Despite the story having a large cast, no one is underdeveloped as a character and all come to have well rounded personal stories without taking too much attention from the main cast. Sakisaka has a really unique style that grows on you and makes each of the characters naturally distinguishable. I never found myself squinting to figure out who was talking to who. For readers who readily leap at shojo stories with all their typical Strobe Edge: 05 elements but with a refreshing Strobe Edge: 05 twist in art style and dialogue, this is the one to go to. If the guys out there are looking for something emotional to get in touch with their soft sides, go ahead and give this a Strobe Edge: 05. Thank you so much for reading and I will talk to you all soon! Does Ren love Ninako just as Strobe Edge: 05 as she loves him? It just seems super heartbreaking. • The Missing Link of Shōjo Manga History : the Changes in 60S Shōjo Manga As Seen Through the Magazine Shūkan Margaret
京都精華大学紀要 第四十九号 ― 5 ― The missing link of shōjo manga history : the changes in 60s shōjo manga as seen through the magazine Shūkan Margaret Kálovics Dalma Introduction The worldwide success of manga can be partly attributed to the fact that Japanese comics provide a wide range of reading materials for girls. However even though shōjo manga existed for as long as shōnen manga, there are periods in the history of the genre we hardly know anything about. Shōjo manga research tends to focus on gender and due to that centers mainly on the 1970s and the manga of the Magnifi cent 49ers (Hana no 24-nen gumi ), a group of female artists born around 1949 including Hagio Moto, Ōshima Yumiko, Takemiya Keiko and Yamagishi Ryōko, who became famous for their literary style and addressing gender and sexuality in their works.1 This approach has resulted in many works being left out from the scope of research, be they from preceding periods or contemporary mainstream titles. The lack of detailed analysis of the 20 years of postwar shōjo manga up till the 70s can lead one to believe the 49ers singlehandedly created the genre out of nothing, when in reality by the time they appeared shōjo manga was a diverse and successful genre which sold over a million of its most popular magazines.2 In an attempt at shōjo manga historiography the fi rst part of this paper analyzes the discourse surrounding the genre, and fi nds reasons in publication history for the obscuring of̶among others̶ the 1960s of shōjo manga. The second part of the essay contrasts assumptions about 60s shōjo manga with actual facts based on fi ndings from an ongoing project, in which I examined so far over 250 issues of the magazine Shūkan Margaret published between 1963 and 1970, from the collection of the Kyoto International Manga Museum and the National Diet Library.

The Female Gaze in Contemporary Japanese Literature Abstract The female gaze can be used by writers and readers to look at narratives from a perspective that sees women as subjects instead of objects. Applying a female gaze to discourses that have traditionally been male-dominated opens new avenues of interpretation that are empowering from a feminist perspective. In this dissertation, I use the murder mystery novels of the bestselling female author Kirino Natsuo and the graphic novels of a prolific four-woman artistic collective called CLAMP to demonstrate how writers are capable of applying a female gaze to the themes of their work and how readers can and have read their work from the perspectives allowed by a female gaze. Kirino Natsuo presents a female perspective on such issues as prostitution, marriage, and equal employment laws in her novels, which are often based on sensationalist news stories. Meanwhile, CLAMP challenges the discourses surrounding the production and consumption of fictional women, especially the young female characters, or shojo, that have become iconic in Japanese popular culture.

Close to heaven Titel: Close to heaven Autor: Rin Mikimoto Seiten: 192 Bewertung: Darum geht’s: Ninon ist an ihrer Schule nicht gerade beliebt. Rezension: Close to Heaven ist kein gewöhnlicher Manga.
