I started little athletics as an under 6 athlete Favourite memory as a Little Athlete? My favourite memory would have to be coming 3rd in the 1500m and receiving my first individual medal at the 2012 State Championships in Bendigo. Also being part of the JDS squad has been memorable as I have made many lifelong friends. If you weren’t a distance runner, what event would you like to try? I would really like to give high jump a go because it would be a challenge and I’d like to see how far I can take it. Favourite elite athlete & why? My favourite elite athlete is English athlete Jessica Ennis because she is exceptionally good at many events and was so amazing to watch during the Olympics. You won the U/15 1500m at the Little Athletics State Championships, how did that feel? Winning the 1500 and claiming my first state title was a special moment, especially being that it was my last year of little athletics. It made all the hard training and many years of waiting for this moment so worthwhile. Seeing my younger sister placing in the 1500m race later that day made it even more memorable. Goals for the 2013/14 season? My goals for the 2013/2014 are to continue getting PB, making the state teams and to work on my incredibly bad block starts! If you had any advice for younger little athletes what would it be? My advice for younger athletes is to keep trying to be the best you can be and continue with the sport. Athletics is so much more than just training and competing; you develop so many great friends and memories. I encourage all younger athletes to continue with the sport and try their best because when you get the results, it’s a great feeling that no one can ever take away from you.
