Vivencias 2011 Winery: Pago El Almendro Region: D.O.P. Vino de Calidad de Valtiendas Grapes: 100% Tempranillo Winery: This wine comes from the Quality Wine Region of Valtiendas. The region is in the Northeast of the province of Segovia abutting its more famous neighbor, Ribera del Duero. A key difference versus Ribera del Duero is the altitude of the vine- yards, 900 meters and higher. Currently there are 5 recognized Bodegas in the region, with 100 hectares under cultivation. Wine: In 2010 grapes were harvested during the second week of October. Grapes saw a total of 25 days maceration with the must/wine during fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Follow- ing alcoholic fermentation the wine was racked to barrel for ML. The wine was aged for 14 months in 1/3 each new, 1 year old and 2 year old, fine-grained French oak barrels. Reviews: “The wine they have produced since the beginning is now in the 2011 vin- tage. I’m talking about the 2011 Viviencias, pure Tempranillo from the zone of Valtien- das in the province of Segovia, from vines planted on a plateau at 955 meters altitude where the soils are chalk-rich and covered with boulders. The nose is quite perfumed, showing ripeness and generous oaking, coming through as quite attractive, a little jam- my and showy. The palate is medium-bodied with moderate tannins and acidity, in a style that can remind you of a Ribera del Duero. 7,000 bottles.” 90 points Wine Advocate Issue 221, October 2015 “Dark ruby. Fragrant scents of blueberry preserves, vanilla, spicy oak and woodsmoke. Round and seamless, with nicely concentrated dark fruit flavors complemented by mocha and licorice. Gentle tannins shape the finish, which lingers with appealing sweetness.” 90 points International Wine Cellar Issue 170 Sept/Oct 2013 Selected by Aurelio Cabestrero® Imported by Grapes of Spain 571.642.0343 Phone 571.642.0505 Fax www.grapesofspain.com © 11/2015.
