Priscilla is the Founding Artistic Director of Walking on Water Productions—an Ithaca- Center based musical theatre company entering its second season—and an adjunct professor of theatre and dance at Wells College, Western Carolina University, and Trinity Christian College. She Classes offered through August 24 holds an MFA in Acting (Directing Concentration) from Regent University and a BA in Theatre (Dance Minor) from Brenau Registration is still open! University. HangarTheatre.org Oliver Scott (Music Director) was born in lower Manhattan and started playing the piano at 5 years old. After later moving to Maine he became involved in theater at school, soon becoming the pianist for his high school productions. This inspired Oliver to continue Seussical JR. Apart from being great fun and featuring terrific performances, this is a profound story. At its centre is Horton the Elephant’s assertion that "a person’s a person no matter how small". Obviously, these are words to live by. They are also a call to action for young people – to think and care about those who are sometimes forgotten or unseen. We hope Seussical inspires all audience members, young and not so young, to be conscious of the impact of their actions. Think how much better the world would be. To quote another song from the show "Oh the thinks you can think – if you’re willing to try..." Our show runs through the Holidays with public performances every day between December 27th and 31st.     JOINT BIO: LONG (649 words) Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty are considered the foremost theatrical songwriting team of their generation. They won Broadway's triple crown--Tony Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award—as well as two Grammy nominations for their score of the Broadway musical Ragtime. They received two Academy Award nominations and two Golden Globe nominations for the songs and score of Twentieth Century Fox's animated feature film, Anastasia, which they also adapted into Broadway’s hit musical, Anastasia. In 2014 they received the Oscar Hammerstein Award for Lifetime Achievement, and in 2015 they were inducted into the Theater Hall of Fame. They wrote the musical Once On This Island (eight Tony Award nominations, London’s Olivier Award, Best Musical) which premiered on Broadway in 1990. We are so excited over at the Fifth Avenue to be partnering with The Seattle Public Library and these community conversations and we're so thankful that you all decided to come here on this beautiful Monday sunny night in Seattle. I don't know what you're doing inside it's gorgeous out there. Well we're going to wow you with some songs tonight and a wonderful conversation at the Fifth. We're currently presenting "Marie - Dancing Still", a new musical based on the life of and the world of the young ballet student who inspired the masterpiece by Dagmar. The little dancer. And tonight we have two very special guests with us the writers of Lynn Ahrens who wrote the book and lyrics and Stephen Flaherty who composed the music. Ahrens similarity we're gonna embarrass you a little bit. You are considered the foremost theatrical songwriting team of their generation and that's true. They are. They of course wrote the Tony Award winning score for the musical masterpiece ragtime and began their Broadway career with the irresistible.

  • BRENT BARRETT Brent Barrett Is No Stranger to the Stages of Broadway
    BRENT BARRETT Brent Barrett is no stranger to the stages of Broadway, the West End, concert halls, recording studios or television. He was most recently seen on Broadway reprising his role as Billy Flynn in the Tony Award-winning hit, Chicago - The Musical for which he received a Los Angeles Drama Critics Award. Brent received an Olivier Award nomination for his starring role in the London premiere of the Tony Award-winning Broadway revival of Kiss Me, Kate. His acclaimed performance was recorded for broadcast on PBS and is available on DVD. Brent made his debut as the Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom – The Las Vegas Spectacular in the new $40 million theatre at the Venetian on the Las Vegas Strip. He also starred in the City Center Encores! production of The Pajama Game and as King Arthur in the Paper Mill Playhouse production of Camelot. Other Broadway roles include Frank Butler in the Broadway revival of Irving Berlin's Annie Get Your Gun at the Marquis Theatre opposite Reba McEntire, Charles Castleton in the Alan Jay Lerner musical Dance a Little Closer and Baron Felix Von Gaigern in Grand Hotel. Additional New York performances include Maximilian in the Broadway revival of Candide, and Tommy Albright in New York City Opera's production of Brigadoon. In New Zealand, he appeared as Archibald in that country's production of The Secret Garden. On the road, Brent played the Victor Duchesi role in the pre-Broadway Tour of Busker Alley with Tommy Tune, and he starred opposite Cathy Rigby in the National Tour of Annie Get Your Gun.
