The Principal Community Officer informed members that of the six parishes within the South Mid Sussex CLC area that had applied for Operation Watershed funding, Albourne, Poynings, Fulking and Twineham and Pyecombe had been successful and total allocations amounted to £50-60k. The successful parish councils would now work with their contractor of choice to deliver the works. Bolney Parish Council, which had been unsuccessful, was currently revising its application prior to resubmission. 63. The Principal Community Officer provided members with updates for currently progressing TROs in the CLC area in advance of setting Traffic Regulation Order priorities at the Committee’s next meeting. He also informed members that across the county a number of school safety zones were currently unenforceable and that officers were currently consulting on how these TROs would be delivered. The Chairman invited questions and comments from members of the public, which included: • A local resident sought the Committee’s support for traffic calming measures in Keymer, which were required owing to speeding vehicles and the potentially dangerous road layout.

    Local Defibrillators If you are planning a cardiac event then it makes sense (i) to have it in a location that has a defibrillator available, (ii) to have with you a companion who knows exactly where the defibrillator is, and (iii) for that companion to have some idea how to use it. The text, maps, and photos on this webpage are intended to facilitate the first two goals. With regard to the third goal, modern public access defibrillators are designed to be usable without prior instruction (they talk you through the process) but your companion will feel much more confident about saving your life if they have attended one of the many defibrillator and resuscitation courses on offer locally. Contact HART to discover times and locations. Finally, you can encourage your companion to do some relevant reading. Fulking The Fulking defibrillator is in the centre of the village. The red door to the right is the entrance to the green corrugated iron shack that has served as the village hall for the last ninety years. The porch to the left is the entrance to a tiny brick chapel now used as the church bookstore. The defibrillator is in this porch and is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Edburton The Edburton defibrillator is located at Coles Automotive which is at the end of Browns Meadow, a track that begins roughly opposite to Springs Smoked Salmon. It is kept in their reception area and is thus only accessible during garage opening hours. Poynings: The Forge Garage Poynings has two defibrillators.

This Report proposes an update to the Council’s Local Development Scheme for publication. Summary 2. The Council has a legislative requirement to prepare a Local Development Scheme setting out its timetable for the production of Development Plan Documents. This Report proposes an update to the Council’s Local Development Scheme to ensure it is up-to-date, and in particular, reflects the Council’s timetable for preparing the Site Allocations Development Plan Document. Recommendations 3. It is recommended that Cabinet approve the Council’s updated Local Development Scheme (Appendix 1) for publication on the 13 June 2019 ___________________________________________________________________ Background: Development Plan Documents 4. The Council’s current Local Development Scheme (LDS) was published in October 2017. This LDS set out a timetable for preparing the Council’s Development Plan Documents (DPD), such as the District Plan, and any other documents that make up the Council’s ‘Development Plan’ including Neighbourhood Plans. The ‘Development Plan’ taken as a whole is used to inform planning decisions within the District. 5. The LDS ensures that community, businesses, developers, service and infrastructure provides and other interested organisations and individuals know which DPD’s are to be prepared by the Council and when they will be able to participate in the plan making process1.

Congratulations to these parishes for achieving the first formal stage in the Neighbourhood Plan preparation process. Albourne, Hassocks and Hurstpierpoint & Sayers Common parishes are reminded that they also need to wait for Plan Area designation by the South Downs National Park Authority before proceeding with any formal consultation on their draft Neighbourhood Plans.

  • Sussex Equine Rangers Join the Fight Against Rural Crime
    SUSSEX EQUINE RANGERS JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST RURAL CRIME An exciting new scheme is being launched in August which needs our horse riding community to volunteer to help fight rural crime. The pilot areas are Bolney, Warninglid,Twineham, Hickstead, Albourne, Pyecombe, Poynings, Fulking, Hurspierpoint, Sayers Common and Hassocks. This unique partnership seeks to promote collaboration between Sussex Police and local riders to tackle rural crime and anti-social behavior. The Mid Sussex Neighborhood Police Team has appointed a co-coordinator for this project, who is passionate about rural affairs and the communities we police. The project will assist in crime reduction by the volunteers working in an effective preventative capacity. There will be a pilot scheme of 15 to 18 volunteers, aged from 18, from the local riding community who will be participating in their day to day recreational activity of riding along the country roads, bridleways and lanes of Sussex. These volunteers, whilst out riding over miles of countryside, will be eyes and ears for the Neighborhood Police Team and report back anything suspicious to the team. They will be expected to volunteer for a couple of hours a week and will receive bulletins to enable the police to keep them informed of recent crimes and illegal activities. The project will enhance relationships and is dynamic and expandable to other areas of Sussex. Although initiated by Sussex Police, the volunteer riders will be supported and encouraged to seek out new members themselves and the rangers will be self managed. The aims and objectives are directed towards crime prevention in an attempt to reduce and deter criminals taking advantage of remote areas.
