Firstly, may I thank you for supporting me, it is an honour to become your centre Chairman. The North Yorkshire Centre has a proud heritage and we should be proud to be members of that, I know I am. You will get 100% commitment and effort from me during my chairmanship as I hope to play a part in adding to the long and successful history of this centre. The 2018/19 season will bring with it interesting challenges, we have a busy year coming up with some new venues and a celebration rally 19th – 21st July 2019. Yes, we have reached the milestone of 3500 rallies, please support this event. Don’t forget we are always looking for new ralliers and potential rally officers to contribute to our program. We have one new committee member, Carol, and three members in their second year, the others being seasoned “pro’s”, I hope you will give them all your support and help during this season. We must remember that their time and expertise is given freely, and our hobby would not be possible without their input or indeed the efforts of the rally officer’s, my sincere thanks go to them all. My thanks go to both Merve, our Rally Secretary, who once again has put together the strong rally program you will find in this handbook and Ian who has excellently compiled it for us, once again. My best wishes go to Megan Staley and her committee of young Caravanners, they have done a sterling job over the last year which I am sure will continue into this year, please give them your continued support. So everything is set for another excellent year of rallying, lets hope the weather is as kind to us as last year, Suzanne and I hope you have a good rally year, supporting as many rallies as you can and introducing as many new members as you can to our wonderful centre, we look forward to seeing you on a rally field this year. A The Marina. AREA 75 Approved UreUre CorridorCorridor recreationrecreation areaarea Feb 2004 (Ripon(Ripon ToTo NewbyNewby Reach)Reach) Description This is an area of intensive recreational use situated along the eastern edge of Ripon and covering almost 4km² of the Ripon Canal and River Ure corridor. The two water courses run almost parallel to each other in a north-south direction through the area to the point where they meet approximately one mile upstream of Newby Hall. The watercourses are well-wooded providing an intimate and attractive setting for boaters and walkers with dispersed views into the landscape beyond. A strong network of public footpaths provides easy access to the banks of the canal and much of the riverbank and is a valuable resource to the local community. Beyond the watercourses, the flat landscape is more open and management is a mixture of wild looking wetland with outgrown hedges and unkempt vege tation that contrast with the manicured appearance of the marina, sailing club and racecourse. Built form and boundary treatments display a variety of styles and modern materials that lack cohesion giving a somewhat chaotic appearance to this pleasant area. • Edition 10: 20Th September 2013
Edition 10: 20th September 2013 Rugby World Cup 2015 Lead Up and Legacy Activity The RFU launched the seven strands of its national Lead up and Legacy plan on October 31st 2012. The aim of this is to set out an overall framework against which national resource will be invested in the lead up to RWC 2015 with the aim of increasing interest and participation in the game. Whilst many Clubs, CBs, Schools, Colleges, Universities and other bodies are working hard to develop local projects to meet identified local need these seven strands are areas in which we will invest national resource to create change in Rugby communities across the country. It is hoped that those delivery bodies that have not yet identified their focus will focus in on these areas and take action to improve provision and opportunities against these themes. Six Regional Activation and Legacy Groups are now up and running and are working to add value to the seven strands and to engage partners from outside of the immediate rugby community in supporting the efforts of those within it. Each group is populated by representatives from CBs and from the wider community. Attached as an appendix to this CB update is a brief overview of progress against the seven strands along with listings of clubs/projects etc involved to date – this will be updated for each issue. In addition to the work against the seven strands strong working relationships have been established with England Rugby 2015, the Organising Body for the tournament itself, and an update on relevant areas are also included in the appendix.
