MSU Head Coach Donald Hill-Eley

Access your team’s performance against Delaware State? It was a big win. Both teams were water logged, running throughout the game. Actually from the fi rst kick-off we made more plays than they made, we were able to get four turnovers. Special teams did a good job in kicking us in good fi eld position. Off ense did a good job with the ball control within our conditions. Everything pretty much worked in our favor in those areas and was able to get a win against a very good team.

What does it say about beating the MEAC defending champions? Beating them helped us to not be thinking about if we wanted white or dark meat for Thanksgiving and keeps us in the hunt for this championship.

On this weekend’s contest versus FAMU? Florida A&M is going to fi nd a way to win. Coach Taylor, you can see the motivation he has in those young men. They believe in what’s going on in all phases and there’s a lot of hustle. Off ensively, they’re making plays, controlling the ball, both quarterbacks are doing a good job of moving the ball with their feet and throwing it in the seams. Defen- sively, they’re doing a good job of multiple zone blitzing and containing the football. Specials teams is doing a good job with deep returns, the kicks, the punts and creating turnovers on the defensive side. They’ve been doing things to really win these games and they’ve been able to pull them out and fi ght to the bitter end. Once again, we have our work cut out for us in trying to fi nd a way to go in there during their homecoming time and try to pull out a win.

Curtis Pulley has done a great job running and throwing the ball, how can you contain them? After I get off the phone with you, that’s what we’re going to get back to fi guring out. He is a great young man who has brought so much excitement to the conference. If you stop him from running it, he’ll throw it; if you try to defend him from throwing the ball, he’ll run it. He’s able to take advantage of what’s there. He’s a threat whether he’s running the ball or throwing it. We’ll have our work cut out. But we have some guys on that defensive side that we have to make sure they’re in position to make some plays on the run.
