Announces Sub Tehsil for Kunihar PHC for Ghunagughat and Manjhu

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh offered floral tributes at the statue of late Shri Hari Dass Thakur, to commemorate the 33rd death anniversary of the former Minister at Kunihar in district Solan today. He also inaugurated Maharaja Padam Singh Memorial Stadium at Kunihar and unveiled the statue of late Maharaja Padam Singh, the erstwhile ruler of estate. The statue is first of its kind in the State. Later, while addressing public meeting at newly inaugurated sports Stadium at Kunihar, the Chief Minister announced Sub-Tehsil for Kunihar and Primary Health Centre (PHC) for Ghunagughat and a PHC at Manjhu. He lauded the efforts of Shri Rajinder Thakur, a leader of Congress Party from the area, for initiating the development works and motivating others for working towards achieving the development. It was due to his efforts and other few associated with him, that the Pond, which never got filled up with water from last 20 years was today converted into a magnificent stadium. He said that a sum of Rs. 67 crore would be spent on various development works and roads being implemented in Arki assembly constituency and directed the concerned departments to accomplish the same by March,2017. He said that those who indulge themselves in conspiracy never succeed and at last the truth prevails. The Chief Minister said that the people of Himachal were gentle and hardworking and should always be alert of conspirators as it was only due to united efforts that development could be achieved. The Chief Minister said today Himachal stands as the most developed State in the country. Initially, the road length of the State was 283 kilometres, but today the road length was around 37000 kilometres. 100 percent electrification has been achieved. has progressed in every sphere, may it be education, Health, Roads etc. In education sector, as many as 1329 new schools have been opened or upgraded and 42 new degree colleges have been opened in rural and far flung areas of the State during the last four years, taking the total strength of colleges to 116, which have benefitted the girl child the most, in far flung areas, he said, adding that he feels happy to see strength of girl child more in the colleges opened in remote belts of the State. He said we were proud of the successive Congress government in the state as well in centre which paved the way for development of our state. It would be injustice if we don't remember the stalwarts who were messiah of development of the State. Shri Virbhadra Singh said that ‘Mulk Ateet ko undekha kar aage nahin badh sakta, Lekin Ateet se seekh kar hi aage badh sakte hain’ (No nation can progress by ignoring its past, rather they can progress by learning lessons from the past). He said that people have starting dividing the people on religion now-days, speaks of Hindutva, which was wrong, as was a secular state and we need to respect all religions alike rather than dividing the people which indirectly leads to disintegration of Nation. He also announced a sum of Rs. 15 thousand each for the school children who presented cultural programme on the occasion. Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the additional block of GSSS (Girls) constructed with an outlay of Rs.34 Lakh. Social Justice and Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil advised that the leaders should themselves also work for ensuring the pace of development. He said that the Pond, where the Stadium was being constructed had dried up long ago around from last 15 to 20 years. If something was coming up, the people should accept the changes. The stadium will enable the students and the youth to play and tone up their skills. He said we should work for development of state as a whole and not play tricks to downsize others. Member, BoD, Animal Welfare Board and former Pradhan, Kunihar, Shri Rajinder Thakur urged the Chief Minister to contest election from Arki assembly segment. He said that all the senior Congressmen of Arki assembly have reached upon common consensus and wish to see Shri Virbhadra Singh as Congress candidate from Arki constituency in next general Assembly elections. He also appealed for unity amongst the Congress cadre in Arki-Kunihar and urged to shed off the personal grievances to make the party strengthened and for development of the area. He also urged for opening Primary Health Centre in Village Palog in Manjhu Panchayat. Earlier, Aruna Thakur, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Kunihar welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister. MLA Shri Ram Kumar, State Youth Congress President Shri Vikramaditya Singh, DCC President Shri Rahul Thakur, General Secretary HPCC Shri Vinod Sultanpuri, Secretary HPCC Shri Sanjay Bhandari, Chairperson Women Welfare Commission Smt. Janeb Chandel, Vice-Chairman Khadi Board Shri Ramesh Chauhan, Vice Chairman Small Savings Shri Prakash Karad, Chairman Jogindra Bank Shri Mohan Mehta, Member BoD HPTDC Shri Surinder Sethi, Chairperson, Panchayat Samiti, Smt. Neelam Raghuvanshi, senior Congress leaders Shri Amar Chand Pal and Shri Sanjay Thakur were also present on the occasion amongst others.
