Fans often let their “guard” down while attending sporting events with family and friends. More likely to take in their surroundings and remember what they saw while associating that information with a positive memory. •Radio and television marketing are quick snapshots and if the consumer misses or tunes out the 30 seconds your message is not delivered. Sports marketing with the Sea Dogs allows a business to be in front of close to 400,000 excited and enthusiastic potential customers, again for an extended period of time. •Marketing with the Sea Dogs carries on over 71 home games and allows a company the opportunity to establish strong brand recognition while also delivering a specific message to our vast fan base. The Sea Dogs strive to create a positive, family atmosphere and also rigorously recruit corporate groups to our Skybox suites and picnic area. This combination makes the Sea Dogs customers a unique mix of various demographics. Why the Sea Dogs? •The Sea Dogs are one of the most attended professional sports teams in ALL of New England. This ranking includes the four major sports franchises in the Boston area. •Each season the Sea Dogs attract around 400,000 fans to Hadlock Field from April through September. That is 400,000 sets of eyes and ears focused on your company which drives customers and clients to your business. •The Sea Dogs averaged 5,514 fans per game during the 2011 season. This strong fan base offers you the opportunity to showcase your product on a nightly basis to scores of captive and loyal customers. •The affiliation with the Boston Red Sox gives the Sea Dogs great exposure throughout New England including many games each season televised to household across New England on NESN. •Our eight station radio network stretches from Dover, NH to Presque Isle, ME and everywhere in between. This reach gives your product an average of an additional 3,000 fans per game and covers each of our 142 home AND away games. In addition each of our games are broadcast over the Internet for fans across the country and world to listen to. Don’t Just Take Our Word For It! Here is what Portland Sea Dogs advertising partners and fans have to say about the Sea Dogs experience: *”I enjoy the entertainment the Sea Dogs provide not only through the baseball game on the field but also with the promotions between innings. Our whole family enjoys attending games and Hadlock Field provides a safe and friendly environment!”--- Justin McKenzie- South Portland, Maine *”It has been my pleasure to partner with the Portland Sea Dogs since their first year at Hadlock Field. Every promotional aspect has always been fulfilled professionally and creatively for all of my clients. We value our partnership with the Portland Sea Dogs and will continue to support our joint efforts in the future.”--- Karen St. Clair- Owner; St. Clair Media Group * “U.S. Cellular's partnership with the Portland Sea Dogs is truly a home run for everyone, especially the community. We are thrilled to align ourselves with a ball club that shares our passion for the game and the Greater Portland community.” --- Stacey Gagne- Field Marketing Manager; U.S. Cellular Sea Dogs’ History •The Sea Dogs started play in Portland in 1994 -- the first team in more than 40 years to play in the popular Maine city – by shattering the Eastern League attendance record en route to drawing more than 375,000 fans in that historic inaugural season. •Since 1994, the Sea Dogs have averaged more than 400,000 fans per season, annually ranking in the top five in Double-A attendance and among the top minor league teams in capacity of the stadium filled. •The Sea Dogs rank first in the league in Season Ticket Holders at over 2,200 making a ticket to a Sea Dogs’ game hard to come by as only 71% of the season’s tickets are available to the general public. Many of these tickets are corporately owned which means nightly there are new and unique fans attending Capacity crowds and family fun are games. the norm all season at Hadlock Field. •The Sea Dogs welcomed their 7,000,000th fan in July 2011. They were the second-fastest team in Double-A history to reach the milestone! •In 2011 the Sea Dogs drew 369,424 fans and averaged 5,514 fans per game. •The Sea Dogs organization won the two most coveted awards in Minor League Baseball when they received the Freitas Award in 1999– which recognizes one team each year for long term success -- and the John H. Johnson Trophy in 2000 – which recognizes the top Minor League team based on stability, contributions to the league and community, and promotion of the baseball industry. More About the Sea Dogs • Double A Baseball is the second highest classification of Minor League Baseball. • Like other members of Minor League Baseball, Double A Baseball offers fans affordable family entertainment and exciting and innovative promotions, with at least 140 games on the schedule for each club between April and September. • Because players at the Double A level are only two steps away from becoming a Major Leaguer, Double A Baseball has also become the level where most blue chip prospects complete their development. This can be seen as more and more players are jumping directly from Double A to the Major Leagues while spending little or no time at Triple-A. • The Sea Dogs are one of the highest attended Minor League teams in the country. In 2011 the Sea Dogs ranked 3rd out of 12 Eastern League teams in attendance, 6th out of 30 Double-A teams, and 30th out of 176 Minor League Baseball teams in the country. • The Sea Dogs draw more fans each season than the other professional Maine teams combined including the Portland Pirates, Maine Red Claws, and Lewiston Maineiacs. • During the months of July and August the Sea Dogs operated at 95.2% capacity crowds. • The Sea Dogs benefit from being in the heart of Red Sox nation with games televised on NESN and numerous segments on regional television such as Comcast, NECN, and others creating additional opportunities for our sponsors to get noticed. • Prior to the 2003 season the Portland Sea Dogs installed a likeness of Fenway’s fabled Green Monster. The Sea Dogs’ own “Maine Monster” stands 37 feet high, is 315 feet from home plate, and features the signature Coke Bottle, Citgo Sign, and W.B. Mason sign. The Maine Monster offers a unique touch to Hadlock Field while also assisting in the development of the Red Sox outfielders. From Hadlock to Fenway .In 18 season’s of baseball more than 180 Sea Dogs players have gone on to play in the Major Leagues. .Three players from the 2011 Portland Sea Dogs Opening Day roster would make their way to the Major Leagues later in the season including Ryan Lavarnway. .The 2011 Boston Red Sox featured 25 former Sea Dogs players including Daniel Bard, Josh Beckett, Clay Buchholz, Jacoby Ellsbury, Adrian Gonzalez, Jon Lester, Jonathan Papelbon, Dustin Pedroia, and Kevin Youkilis. .Many of Red Sox stars appear for the Sea Dogs on injury rehabilitation assignments including Mike Cameron, Manny Delcarmen, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jeremy Hermida, Jed Lowrie, Daisuke Catcher Ryan Lavarnway Matsuzaka, David Ortiz, and John Smoltz. opened the 2011 season in .Amongst the Sea Dogs notable alumni are: Portland and finished it in .Over 20 Major League All-Stars Boston. .4 Pitchers who have tossed Major League no-hitters (AJ. • Sheigra Dxpedition Report
Sheigra DXpedition Report 12 th to 25 th October 2019 - with Dave Kenny & Alan Pennington This was the 58th DXpedition to Sheigra in Sutherland on the far north western tip of the Scottish mainland, just south of Cape Wrath. DXers made the first long drive up here in 1979, so this we guess, was the 40 th anniversary? And the DXers who first made the trip to Sheigra in 1979 to listen to MW would probably notice little change here today: the single-track road ending in the same cluster of cottages, the cemetery besides the track towards the sea and, beyond that, the machair in front of Sheigra’s sandy bay. And surrounding Sheigra, the wild windswept hillsides, lochans and rocky cliffs pounded by the Atlantic. (You can read reports on our 18 most recent Sheigra DXpeditions on the BDXC website here: http://bdxc.org.uk/articles.html ) Below: Sheigra from the north: Arkle and Ben Stack the mountains on the horizon. Once again we made Murdo’s traditional crofter’s cottage our DX base. From here our long wire Beverage aerials can radiate out across the hillsides towards the sea and the Americas to the west and north west, and eastwards towards Asia, parallel to the old, and now very rough, peat track which continues on north east into the open moors after the tarmac road ends at Sheigra. right: Dave earths the Caribbean Beverage. We were fortunate to experience good MW conditions throughout our fortnight’s stay, thanks to very low solar activity. And on the last couple of days we were treated to some superb conditions with AM signals from the

  • Minor League Baseball and Its Clubs Embodied the Mission of Milb
2019 MiLBTM COMMUNITY REPORT LETTER FROM PAT O’CONNER LETTER FROM PAT Dear Friends and Colleagues, Thank you for your efforts in making 2019 another successful philanthropic year for Minor League Baseball, our 160 teams and MiLB Charities. As we prepare for the 2020 season, we have many accomplishments from last season to celebrate. None of our efforts would be possible without the great work of our teams, continued dedication from staff at the national office and the support of our millions of fans nationwide. For a fifth straight year, all 160 clubs reported their charitable giving and contributions, allowing us to accurately assess our collective efforts. It gives me great pleasure to say that in 2019, MiLB Charities donated nearly $50 million in cash and gifts in kind from our teams, leagues and partners — once again setting a new record-high total. In addition, MiLB and its teams nearly doubled our volunteer efforts from 2018, giving more than 26,000 hours in service of our communities. This report highlights MiLB Charities’ many programs and initiatives, including the MiLB CommUNITY Initiative presented by Allegiant Air, the Stars & Stripes Caps Program with New Era Cap Company, the Derrick Hall Pro-State Foundation Father’s Day Initiative, Ed Randall’s Fans For the Cure, the Joe Torre Safe At Home Domestic Violence Awareness Initiative, and the “Cover Your Bases” Sun Safety Initiative with the American Cancer Society. These are just a few of the ways our teams and partners are working together to make positive and lasting impacts in our MiLB communities.
