Brown, Jr. Ancient Craft Masonry – Initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on August 12, 1975, passed to the degree of a Fellow Craft Mason on September 12, 1975, and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on October 24, 1975, in Morristown Lodge No. 231, Morristown, Tennessee. Demitted to Lancaster Lodge No. 54, Lincoln, where he served as Master in 1991. Grand Lodge – Appointed Grand Chaplain in February 1994 by M∴W∴ Steven F. Mattoon. Appointed Grand Junior Deacon in February 1995 by M∴W∴ Jerry L. Rittenburg. Appointed Grand Senior Deacon in February 1996 by M∴W∴ V. Kaye Ramsey. Elected and installed as Grand Junior Warden in February 1997 under M∴W∴ Kenneth G. Fleming. Elected and installed as Grand Senior Warden in February 1998 under M∴W∴ Don E. Rasmussen. Elected and installed as Deputy Grand Master and Grand Master-Elect in February 1999 under M∴W∴ Dwight E. Smith. Installed as the 134th Grand Master of Masons on February 13, 2000. Appointed Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of Nicaragua. Previously served as a member of the Education Committee and the Grand Lodge Office Committee. York Rite – Made a Royal Arch Mason, a Royal and Select Master in Morristown, Tennessee. Dubbed a Knight Templar in Morristown Commandery, at Morristown, Tennessee on April 29, 1976. Demitted to Lincoln Chapter No. 6, Lincoln Council No. 4, and Mt. Moriah Commandery No. 4 of Lincoln, Nebraska in 1998. Became a member of the "Coeur De Lion Conclave of the Red Cross of Constantine" in August 1999. Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite – Received the 4th through 32nd Degrees in the Valley of Knoxville, Orient of Tennessee in 1977. Elected a Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in December 1999. Shrine – Member since 1981 of Sesostris Temple of the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine in Lincoln, Nebraska. Commander of the Legion of Honor in 1989. Active in the Ritualistic Divan. Vice President of the Proficient Past Masters Club. Order of Eastern Star – Member of Temple Chapter No. 271 in Lincoln, Nebraska since 1982. Served as Worthy Patron in 1985. Installed as Worthy Grand Patron of the vi Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in 1991. Served as a Grand Trustee from 1993 - 1997. Rainbow – Awarded the Grand Cross of Color by the International Order of Rainbow for Girls in 1992. DeMolay – Legion of Honor 2000. Other Masonic Bodies – Appointed Trustee of the Nebraska Masonic Home in 1996. Member of the Board of Directors for the Nebraska Masonic Foundation, 1995 - present. Served as President of the Nebraska Masonic Foundation in 1998 and 1999. Member of Omaha Chapter No. 19, National Sojourners. Member of the Nebraska Veterans of Freemasons Association since 1993. Education and Public Service – Received a B.A. Degree from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville, in 1968. Received an M.B.A. Degree from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tennessee in 1970. Received a Doctorate of Business Administration Degree from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1981. Served as a National Director for the National Association of Accountants, 1987 - 88. President of the Nebraska Cornhusker Chapter of the National Association of Accountants, 1985-86. Military – Retired from the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant; serving from 1968 - 1974. vii Philip A. Lorenzen Ancient Craft Masonry – Initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on June 6, 1964, passed to the degree of a Fellow Craft Mason on August 4, 1964, and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on September 1, 1964 in Solomon Lodge No. 10, Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. Became a dual member in Shiloh Lodge No. 327, Omaha, Nebraska on October 7, 1987. Appointed and elected to various offices and installed as Worshipful Master of Solomon Lodge No. 10 in 1973. Certified as a Proficient Mason for eight years. Grand Lodge of Nebraska – Served on various Grand Lodge Committees including chairman of the Finance Committee. Appointed Grand Junior Steward in February 1991 by M∴W∴ James N. DeMoss. Appointed Grand Junior Steward in February 1992 by M∴W∴ James L. Eatmon. Appointed Grand Orator in 1993 by M∴W∴ Donald L. Pohlman. Appointed Grand Orator in February 1994 by M∴W∴ Steven F. Mattoon. Appointed Grand Orator in February 1995 by M∴W∴ Jerry L. Rittenburg. York Rite – Made a Royal Arch Mason in Adoniram Chapter No. 13 at Blair, Nebraska; a Royal and Select Master in Triad Council No. 33 at Tekamah, Nebraska; and, became a Knight Templar in Jordan Commandry No. 15 Blair, Nebraska all at the one-day York Rite Festival held in 1971 in North Platte, Nebraska. Current membership is with Mackay Chapter No. 24, Tirad Council No. 33 and Jordan Commandry No. 15. Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite – Received the 4th through the 32nd Degrees in the Valley of Omaha, Orient of Nebraska in 1984. Elected a Knight Commander of the Court of Honor in 1996. In 2000, became a 33º Honorary Elect, to be Coroneted in Charleston, South Carolina in October 2001. Elected and served as Venerable Master of Kadosh, Omaha Consistory 1998. Shrine – Member in 1975 of Tangier Temple, Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, Omaha, Nebraska. Club memberships include Vintage Iron, Past Masters, Square & Compass and Harley Escorts. ix Order of the Eastern Star – Member of Naomi Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. Job’s Daughters – Served on the Bethel Council of Bethel No. 69, Omaha, Nebraska. 1988 and 1989. Other Masonic Bodies or Masonic Related – Director and Past President of the Nebraska Masonic Foundation. Member and Second Vice President of National Sojourners, Nebraska Chapter 19, 1997. Became a member of the Heroes of '76, 1999. Member from 1988, and currently “Leading Man”, Court No. 19 Royal Order of Jesters, Omaha, Nebraska. Director, Member of the Executive Committee, past President and past Chairman of the Board of the Omaha Home for Boys.
