By-Laws of Demolay International 1 2016 By-laws and Rules & Regulations DeMolay International As Amended at the Annual Meeting of 2016 The Sacred Landmarks of the Order of DeMolay A DeMolay Chapter must be sponsored by a generally recognized Masonic Body or Masonic Bodies. Membership in a DeMolay Chapter shall be limited to boys: 1. Who are not yet twenty-one years of age. 2. Who profess a belief in God and Reverence for His Holy Name. 3. Who affirm their loyalty to their country and respect for its flag. 4. Who adhere to the practice of personal morality. 5. Who pledge themselves to uphold the high ideals typified by the seven cardinal virtues in the Crown of Youth. 6. GLEASON Why Pursue Scottish Rite Masonry? Although there is no more important degree than that of the Master Mason, the additional 29 Scottish Rite degrees serve to enrich a Brother’s comprehension of the philosophy and symbolic teaching he received when he was initiated into Freemasonry. When you choose to further your Masonic experience by becoming a 32° Scottish Rite Mason**, you will expand upon your knowledge of Freemasonry’s fundamental principles. The moral and ethical lessons we learn together, will continuously remind us of our duties to family, country, humanity, nature and the Great Architect of the Universe. You do not have to receive all 29 degrees to become a 32° Mason. However, receiving a minimum of five degrees is required. You must receive the 4° and 32°, along with 3 additional degrees. ** Despite its name (explained later in this brochure), the Scottish Rite welcomes all worthy Master Masons regardless of their ethnic origin. The Origins of the Scottish Rite A vague reference to the name "Scottish Rite" can be found in a manuscript dating back to 1733: ''Lodge #115 meeting at the Devil Tavern near Temple Bar in London was described as a Scott's Masons Lodge." The exact origin of the name, however, still remains a mystery to this day. A plausible explanation might be found in late 17th-century European history. When the British Isles were torn by political and religious conflicts, many Scots from the nobility, particularly from the Stuart dynasty, fled to France to seek King Louis XIV's protection.

    Clergy Discretionary Funds Policy 2020 Introduction St. Martha’s has developed guidelines for the benefit of clergy and our congregation. The guidelines are based upon and closely follow the guidelines of the Episcopal Church found in the Manual of Business Practices. The purpose of these guidelines is to provide information and guidance in the structure and use of a class of restricted funds known as clergy discretionary funds. Authority The existence and use of clergy discretionary funds rest on the canonical authority of the Almoner’s Fund described in Title III, Canon 14, Section 2(f), of the Canons of the Episcopal Church: “The Alms and Contributions, not otherwise specifically designated, at the Administration of the Holy Communion on one Sunday in each calendar month, and other offerings for the poor, shall be deposited with the Member of the Clergy in charge of the Parish or Mission or with such Church officer as shall be appointed by him, to be applied by him or under his superintendence, to such pious and charitable uses as shall by him be thought fit. During a vacancy, the Vestry shall appoint a responsible person to serve as Almoner.” The Almoner’s Funds, generally known as clergy discretionary funds, have a long history of customary use in the Episcopal Church. The member of the clergy in charge of a congregation customarily has a special fund made available by the Vestry, the expenditure of which is under the authority of the cleric. Sources St. Martha’s has decided to set aside a budgeted amount for the discretionary fund as a substitute for the traditional source which is typically the loose offering that is given at the Holy Eucharist a minimum of one Sunday a month.

None of these thirty-one had seen fit to install a chapter in Arkansas. In many colleges a different type of society had developed, the literary society. Some were secret and some were not. Their object was training and drill in compos·i tion and orat®ry. Their exercises consis ted of debates, orations, essays, and the reading and discussion of papers on literary subjects. Ouachita had two such societies for men by 1888, the Philomathean Literary Society and the Hermesian Literary Society. These societies were non-secret, and they were encouraged and endorsed by the faculizy. They were given prominent places in the college cataldgues.

Collect RCRs for everyone residing on your floor and return to the Housing Coordinator. 4. Encourage residents to submit online work requests. 5. Respond in a timely fashion to emails from the Housing Coordinator (or the Director, or Administrative Assistant), who will communicate with you on behalf of the Residential Life Office. 6. Work with the Housing Coordinator and Assistant Director of Student Programs and Leadership Development to complete room changes. All students wishing to change rooms MUST work with the Housing Coordinator. Students should not change rooms without communicating with the Residential Life Office. One of the many exciting insights that is revolutionizing American business is something called teaming. Automobile designers, manufacturing experts, marketers, advertising specialists, engineers, and others at Ford locations across the world worked together to create the new Ford Taurus car. The end result is a far better product brought to the market in loss time and at lower cost. The total resources of the Ford Motor Company were involved in creating the new car. And it all happened because of teaming. The lesson of teaming applies to Freemasonry. Each Masonic body has a unique perspective on our Fraternity, as well as specialized resources and members with unusual expertise. Each Masonic organization is an incredibly important and valuable resource for all of Freemasonry. Each Masonic body contributes to the rich texture of the Fraternity, builds member allegiance, serves noble charitable purposes, and extends the reach of Freemasonry. But even with the many wonderful accomplishments of the individual organizations, we cannot fulfill our Masonic mission alone. Each group is a facet on the Masonic jewel. Each Masonic body makes a contribution that enhances the lives of the others. We are enriched by each other. Most importantly, we are all Masons. The Symbolic Lodge binds us together, and it is this common Masonic experience that makes it possible for us to be Knight Templar Masons, Scottish Rite Masons, and Shrine Masons. What we do separately elevates and broadens our Masonic experience. The Internet is making it possible for tens of millions of people around the world to talk to each other at home and at work.

General Membership in the Order of DeMolay shall be limited to boys: 1. Who are not yet twenty-one years of age. 2. Who profess a belief in God and Reverence for His Holy Name. 3. Who affirm their loyalty to their country and respect for its flag. 4. Who adhere to the practice of personal morality. 5. Who pledge themselves to uphold the high ideals typified by the seven cardinal virtues in the Crown of Youth. 6. Who accept the philosophy of the Universal Brotherhood of Man and the nobility of character typified by the life and death of Jacques DeMolay. The above six requirements are outlined in the Sacred Landmarks of the Order of DeMolay, published in the front of the DeMolay International Rules and Regulations. Additionally, the Rules and Regulations of DeMolay International specify that an application (formerly called a petition) “may be received only from a young man who has passed his twelfth (12) birthday and not yet reached his twenty-first (21) birthday” (315.2) and that he must be "recommended by two (2) members of the Order of DeMolay, or by a Senior DeMolay, or by a Mason. The applicant must be sponsored by a Mason." All applicants meeting the requirements stated above must be given equal treatment via the balloting procedures as prescribed by Article 15 of the Rules and Regulations of DeMolay International.
