In 1991 he accepted the position of Varsity Basketball Coach at Cedar Springs High School. The school had suffered through a 30 game losing streak spanning over the two previous seasons. During his first season he, along with his coaching staff and the athletes, were immediately able to halt the losing streak. From there he began to build the foundation for a successful high school basketball program. Coach Schlump said “throughout my 14 seasons at Cedar Springs I was fortunate to coach many outstanding basketball players, and more importantly, outstanding young men. “ He went on to say “I have been pleased to send many of these players to the college level to continue their education and playing careers.” At the conclusion of the 2003-2004 season Coach Schlump felt he was ready for the next challenge in his coaching career. He pursued an Assistant Coach position at Ferris State University where he had previously earned his Bachelor’s Degree. While at FSU he helped the program achieve success in the GLIAC. During his time there the Bulldogs won a Conference Championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 nationally. He also gained valuable experience with the overall operation of a college basketball program. This experience included recruiting and prospective player evaluations along with day to day practice organization and individual skill development. Coach Schlump is employed by Cedar Springs Public Schools. He lives in Cedar Springs with his wife of 26 years, Teresea. They have three children; Josh who is 25 and a graduate of FSU, Elyse who is 22and a Grad Assistant at Concordia College, and Dan who is 16 and in 10th grade at Cedar Springs. Muskegon Community College 2012-2013 Men’s Basektball Assistant Coach ~ Anthony Parker Anthony Parker is in his fifth season as assistant coach for the Jayhawk basketball program. He is a graduate of Mona Shores High School (2001). Anthony was a three year varsity performer earning all-conference and all-area all three seasons. Anthony is also part of the Muskegon Sports Hall of Fame after being named the 2001 Male Athlete of the Year in Muskegon. He was an all-state recipient his senior year and finished fourth in Michigan’s prestigious Mr. Basketball voting. Parker attended Saginaw Valley State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphic Design. He was named runner-up freshman of the year in the competitive GLIAC Conference. He was also named to the all-conference team his final three seasons as a Cardinal. During his tenure at SVSU, he made the All-Tournament team during the Gannon Invitational. Anthony finished his career as the third all-time leading score in SVSU history with 1,699 points. Anthony received his degree in May of 2006. After college Anthony returned to his alma mater to coach for two seasons, where he was the assistant for the varsity program under Jeremy Andres and was head coach of the junior varsity team. During the summers of 2006 and 2007 Anthony competed professionally with the Holland Blast and the Grand Rapids Flight, which are part of the International Basketball League (IBL). Anthony currently resides in Grand Rapids. Muskegon Community College 2012-2013 Men’s Basektball Team Roster T.J. Administration of Barack Obama, 2015 Remarks Honoring the 2014 National Basketball Association Champion San Antonio Spurs January 12, 2015 The President. Well, hello, everybody! Welcome to the White House. Everybody, please have a seat. In case you didn't know, these are the NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs. I was considering having the Vice President cover these remarks so I could stay fresh for the State of the Union. [Laughter] Taking an example off Pop, who sits his stars sometimes—[laughter]— but I decided I actually wanted to meet them. So I know we've got a lot of Spurs fans in the house—no doubt—including a guy I stole from San Antonio, our Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, former Mayor Julián Castro. [Applause] Hey! And of course we want to welcome General Manager R.C. Buford and, of course, Coach Popovich. I want the coach to know that he is not contractually obligated to take questions after the first quarter of my remarks. [Laughter] Now, look, I admit it, I'm a Bulls fan. It's never easy celebrating a non-Bulls team in the White House. [Laughter] That's all I've been able to do—[laughter]—so far. But even I have to admit that the Spurs are hard to dislike. First of all, they're old. [Laughter] And for an old guy, it makes me feel good to see—where's Tim? [Laughter] Tim's got some gray. There's a few others with a little sprinkles around here. There's a reason why the uniform is black and silver.

So are the movers ready to lift Josh Smith like an old sofa and carry him to the door next? Not so fast, Ferry tells Jeff Schultz of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution : “He’s a really good player,” Ferry said. “I love his ability to pass the ball. I love his ability to make game-changing plays defensively. I love his competitiveness. If I was out there playing, I would want Josh on my team.” But does Smith want to be here? He wasn’t available for comment Tuesday, but Ferry said he has met with him twice. “He’s excited for next season,” he said. “We haven’t really gone in that direction with him [on roster plans]. But we’ve talked about how we’re going to play. We’ve talked about other players. His ideas, my ideas. I’m just trying to establish a relationship.” Smith has only one year left on his contract. While he reportedly has softened his stance on a trade request, he publicly has given no indication yet that he’s looking to re-sign here. He is coming off the best season of his career (18.8 points, 9.6 rebounds), taking on more responsibility after Al Horford’s injury, even with the occasional “Josh” moment.
