J.D. is the head coach for the Quincy University Women’s and Men’s tennis teams. This is his second year coaching the program. Coach Schuering is a PTR certified instructor and USPTA Coach. He is a former QU Hawk, who competed as the top singles player from 1971 through 1975. He won the Illinois NAIA District 20 and competed in the National tournament in Kansas City all four of his collegiate years. He also played in the Junior Davis Cup for Middle Illinois Tennis Association Team. Schuering was inducted into the QU Sports Hall of Fame and was a former Mart Heinen Athlete of the Year. He was also inducted into the Quincy Notre Dame High School Sports Hall of Fame. Schuering was a seven-time City of Quincy Singles champion. He continues to compete in USTA Senior National, Adult leagues, and Category II tournaments around the country. Schuering served on the USTA/ Midwest Tennis Section seven-member board of directors for six years. He served three terms as the Mid-South President (then Middle Illinois) and has been a longtime volunteer at the USTA National, section and district levels. Schuering is also USPTR “10 & Under” Certified Instructor and he has taught over 2,400 K-8th grade P.E. students in both public and private elementary schools in Quincy. Professionally, Judge Schuering (Ret.) served as State Trial Court Judge for 24 years for the Eighth Judicial Circuit Court of Illinois. For 27 years he was an Adjunct Lecturer at Quincy University teaching courses on the American Judicial Process; Victimology; business and Advanced business Law. Schuering continues to mentor QU students pursuing legal careers and in the Quincy University Pre-Law concentration program. Coach Schuering is married to the former Kate Orlet of belleville, Ill. The couple have five daughters who played high school and collegiate tennis. Three of their daughters were collegiate tennis players at Quincy University. Mark and Kate have 14 grandchildren. Coach John Moore Cell: 217.577-3766 Email: [email protected] ` John Moore is an assistant coach for the Quincy University Women’s and Men’s tennis teams. He joined the coaching staff in 2017 as the Recruitment Coordinator. Moore played D-I collegiate golf at Missouri State University, Springfield, Mo. He later played professional golf on various tours across the south, as well as the Hooters Tour. Coach Moore found his love for tennis and coaching later in life when his children became involved in the game. He coached the Quincy Notre Dame High School Girls tennis team from 2014 to 2016 and the QND boys tennis team from 2015 to 2016. Coach Moore has been employed at Landmarx Screen Printed and Embroidered Products, Quincy, for 12 years. He attends St. Peter Parish in Quincy. His passion in life is spending time with family and watching his children do the things they love. Coach Moore is married to Gen Moore of St. Louis, Mo. Together, they have four children: Abigail, Colin, Aaron, and Clair. both of his daughters are playing tennis competitively. Abigail is currently a junior on the Quincy University Women’s tennis team. Clair is currently a junior playing for the Quincy Notre Dame Girl’s tennis team. Coach Mark Marsot ’ Coach Marsot began as Quincy University’s Women’s and Men’s tennis coach in 2017. He was a PTR certified instructor from 1987 to 1993 and is a PTR certified Professional from 1993 to present. Marsot is a longtime physical education teacher and PTR certified tennis coach in Keokuk, Iowa. He served as the head tennis coach for both girls and boys teams at Keokuk High School from 1988 to 2016. He coached many players to state qualifications and state finishes. Throughout the years, he coached the boy’s team players to two Iowa state finishes in 1993: a 3rd place in singles and 2nd place in doubles. He coached the team to a 5th place in doubles in 2013 and a 4th place in doubles in 2014. Marsot also guided the girl’s team to a few state finishes, by coaching the team to a 5th place finish in doubles in 1998 and a 6th place finish in doubles in 1999. He also led both teams to several conference championships. Coach Marsot was also the Head Tennis Director at Camp Echo Lake, Warrensburg, N.Y. From 2009 to 2015. Marsot has been married to his wife Laura for 45 years. He has three children and six grandchildren. His oldest son attended and played tennis at the Air Force Academy. His two daughters graduated from Q.U. and played tennis. Coach is still very active playing and teaching as a PTR Professional. Coach Johann St. John Cell: 859.940-3834 Email: [email protected] ` Coach St. John is an assistant tennis coach for the Quincy University Women’s and Men’s tennis teams. Coach Johann St. John was born and raised on the Caribbean Island of Grenada, where he trained at the Glynik School of Tennis, under former NCAA player and member of the Eastern Caribbean David Cup Team, Glynn James. Coach Johann St. John competed on the Junior ITF stage and local National tournaments before attending barry University, Miami, Fla. After some collegiate tennis experiences, St. John pursued his master’s degree at Nova Southeastern University, Ft. Lauderdale. Since then, he has served as an assistant coach for Scott County High School boys Tennis Team in Kentucky and a Junior Certified Tennis Coach for the Georgetown Tennis Association in Georgetown, KT. From spring 2015, Coach St. John served as Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s tennis at berea College before moving to Quincy University in the Fall of 2017.
