DAY 1: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 • ARRIVE ROME | WELCOME RECEPTION AND DINNER

Arrive in Rome on independently scheduled flights and transfer on your own to the hotel. This evening, enjoy a cocktail reception and dinner at MUSIA, an eclectic art gallery and restaurant, where you will have the pleasure of meeting the Patrons Office staff. Overnight in Rome.

DAY 2: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 • SCALA SANCTA | ST. JOHN | VATICAN LIBRARY

This morning, visit the Scala Sancta and mount the scaffolding to see the restoration site where you will receive a special blessing. Take a brief coffee break at a nearby café before touring the Basilica of St. John Lateran. Enjoy lunch as a group on the beautiful terrace of the Mecenate Palace Hotel before visiting the Vatican Apostolic Library. Enjoy a group dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Rome.

DAY 3: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 • PAPAL AUDIENCE OR MOSAIC TOUR | CASTEL GANDOLFO

Attend the weekly Papal Audience with special seating (pending the Holy Father’s final schedule) or, as an alternate option, visit the mosaic laboratory next to the Convent of Santa Marta and the private chapel of St. John Paul II with its magnificent contemporary mosaics. Take time for lunch on your own and spend the afternoon at leisure. Early this evening, depart for Castel Gandolfo for a visit to the to see the restored casts of the Trajan Columns, a project of the New York Chapter. Enjoy an early dinner at the Padiglione del Riposo in the Gardens, followed by a visit to the observatory to see the stars. Return to Rome. Overnight in Rome.

DAY 4: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 • ST. PAUL OUTSIDE THE WALLS | VILLA RICHARDSON

This morning, celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, followed by a meeting with His Excellency Cardinal Harvey. Break for coffee on the patio, then tour the basilica and excavations. Return to your hotel for an afternoon at leisure. This evening, visit Villa Richardson for a reception to meet the US Ambassador to the (pending the Ambassador’s final schedule). Dinner as a group and overnight in Rome.

DAY 5: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 • PATRONS RESTORATION TOURS | MAXXI

Tour the New York Chapter sponsored projects in the Vatican Museums, including the Bernini Angels and Constantine Room. Enjoy a coffee break in the Museums before visiting the various restoration labs, including the painting, paper, ceramic, metal, and stone labs. Afternoon at leisure. This evening, visit MAXXI, the National Museum of the 21st Century for Art and Architecture. Following the visit, have dinner as a group in TYPO, the museum’s restaurant. Overnight in Rome.

DAY 6: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 • JEWISH GHETTO | PATRONS GALA

This morning, take a walking tour of the Jewish Ghetto in Rome. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure to prepare for the evening’s festivities. Celebrate Mass with Cardinal Bertello. Take a private tour of the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, followed by a gala dinner in one of the galleries. Overnight in Rome.

DAY 7: SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 • RETURN TO USA

Check out of your hotel and depart on independently scheduled flights to the USA or board the train to Florence for the Patron's trip extension.
