Families Together Dallas 2017 ANNUAL REPORT 2017 ANNUAL REPORT Dallas keeping families together Dallas 2017 ANNUAL REPORT 2017 ANNUAL REPORT Dallas Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD) keeps families together, inspires strength, and gives love and support to families whose children are receiving essential medical care. It is the only organization that provides a welcoming, safe home-away-from-home for families who travel and need a place to stay while their children receive treatment at any Dallas area hospital. For a suggested contribution of $15 per day (with no family turned away for an inability to pay), RMHD serves three meals each day; provides shuttle transportation to and from local hospitals; and offers activities and services to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Families are also able to connect with caring volunteers, other families, and our House dog, Shiloh, the Chief Cheer Officer. A WORD FROM OUR CEO 2017 was an incredible year for Ronald McDonald House of Dallas. Our fundraising efforts and generous community support that we received throughout the year allowed us to serve over 2,800 individuals with 17,666 nights at the House. Patients traveled from all over Texas, across the United States and from 16 countries. As we look forward to 2018, we will be growing to help more families coming to Dallas for medical treatment. We will be adding 30 additional guest bedrooms so we can serve more families and we will be breaking ground on The Elsie and Marvin Dekelboum Family Foundation Wing in September. In Si addition, we are expanding our programming to serve more families with the nc opening of our first family room at Texas Scottish Rite for Children Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center Frisco. Thank you for supporting Ronald er McDonald House of Dallas and allowing us to keep families together and el close to the care they need, when they need it most. y, Jill Cumnock, Chief Executive Officer The Detten Family MEET ONE OF OUR FAMILIES The Detten family’s journey at Ronald McDonald House of Dallas (RMHD) began in 2009 prior to the birth of their first daughter, Alice, who had been diagnosed in-utero with multiple congenital heart defects and a diaphramatic hernia. The weeks they spent at RMHD awaiting Alice’s arrival were tense but the House made it bearable. Alice was born at 38 weeks and only lived two days. The family was devastated but grateful for RMHD and what it provided during the worst time of their lives. Just two short years later, the family returned to await the arrival of John, who was diagnosed with the same condition as his sister. John endured two surgeries and months of therapies and they were able to go home just before Christmas. In 2014, the family welcomed Emma, who was born with the same condition as her siblings. Emma’s stays have been shorter than her brother John’s. The family has utilized services at the House for over 200 nights throughout the past 9 years. Because of supporters like you, we were able to care for them during their time of need. our year Our Under the Moonlight Gala, chaired by Maggie Cooke Kipp and Heather Randall and honoring Roger and Marianne Staubach raised nearly $185,000. We hosted our first wedding at the House when one of our families, who had been staying at RMHD for over 8 months decided to get married. Families and staff members joined together to put together a beautiful wedding in less than 48 hours. Shiloh, our Chief Cheer Officer, celebrated his 3rd birthday in August with a birthday party put on by our summer interns. In September, we held a 30th Anniversary Luncheon, chaired by Jamie Singer. The event was hosted by our very first chairs, Alan Engstrom and Debbie Raynor. Our Trains at NorthPark event was one of the best to date and helped Ronald McDonald House of Dallas raise over $530,000 to support our families living here. We celebrated the holidays with a visit from Santa Claus and handed out over 750 toys, which were generously donated by our local supporters. our impact 2,800 INDIVIDUALS SERVED comforting families far and wide 674 families from Texas 169 families from out of state 53 families from other countries within ourtate hosted over 700 family activities From East Texas: 29% From West Texas: 19% From North Texas: 9% From Central Texas: 9% 10 languages From South Texas: 4% spoken From the Panhandle: 4% 10 Weeks of Camp Cornet 55 Happy Campers Top 5 Diagnoses 17,666 - Orthopedic night stays - Cardiology - Oncology average length of stay - Psychiatric - Neurology 13days 2017 ANNUAL REPORT Dallas our numbers TOTAL EXPENSES IN 2017 Fundraising 27% Program Support 71% Management and General 2% TOTAL FUNDING IN 2017 Program (Room Contributions and Medicaid) 13% Contributions 38% Special Events 42% RMHC of Greater North Texas/McDonald’s 7% 2017 ANNUAL REPORT Dallas OUR SUPPORTERS $100,000 and above Addison Rotary Foundation, Inc. ABOUT WestBend is evolving the successful University retail district by delivering the critical mass of retail, restaurants, urban-style pedestrian experience and connectivity to the active social scene on the Trinity Trails that the district currently lacks. When complete, WestBend will be a 670,000 square foot, mixed-use urban infill district with trailside walkable restaurants and a fresh collection of contemporary fashion retailers, a boutique hotel, class A offices, and high-end, multi-family living. - DECK BANNERS DECK - BANNERS DECK - 75 Watters Creek Galleria Dallas 635 Legacy West FLOWER MOUND PLANO 635 35 26 NorthPark Center The Shops at Legacy WestBend TradeHighland ParkArea Village 30 Victory Park 183 Population: 984,859 820 30 80 45 377 COPPELL 20 SOUTHLAKE GRAPEVINE 35 Southlake Town Square 75 Hillside Village 35 Galleria Dallas Shops of Southlake 635 GARLAND 635 35 26 DFW Intl.
