COURSE DESCRIPTION AND MAJOR INSTRUCTIONAL GOAL This course covers basic multimedia concepts and applications utilizing text, , animation, sound, , and various multimedia applications in the design, development, and creation of multimedia presentations and publications in an interactive environment. OBJECTIVES SAFETY AND ETHICS 1. Identify major causes of work-related accidents in offices. 2. Identify potential abuse and unethical uses of and networks. 4. Differentiate between and discuss freeware, shareware, and public domain software copyrights. 5. Identify netiquette including the use of e-mail, social networking, blogs, texting, and chatting. EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS 1. Identify positive work practices. 2. Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills. INTRODUCTION TO MULTIMEDIA-Google Slides, Adobe Spark, and Infographics 1. Define terms related to multimedia. 2. Identify the multimedia components. 3. Identify uses of multimedia. 4. List multimedia design principles.

CAREERS 1. Identify careers in the multimedia creation and publishing industry. 2. Identify education and training requirements for a career in multimedia creation and publishing. 3. a career related to the field of multimedia. 4. Create a multimedia presentation using the results of the career research.

BASICS FOR MULTIMEDIA PROJECTS 1. Distinguish between presentation and authoring software. 2. Describe the process of planning, organizing, and storyboarding a multimedia project.

ANIMATION- Adobe Animate or PowToon 1. Define various types of animation files. 2. Create animated objects and clip . 3. Create original graphic images. 4. Insert animation in a thematic multimedia presentation.

MULTIMEDIA EQUIPMENT-Camcorder 1. Identify multimedia equipment. 2. Discuss multimedia development equipment, including video capture cards, scanners, digital and video cameras, web cameras, projection systems, etc.

AUDIO-Camcorder and iMovie 1. Define various types of audio files. 2. Create vocal and music files. 3. Insert audio files from various in a thematic multimedia presentation.

VIDEO-Camcorder and iMovie 1. Define various types of video files. 2. Create video files. 3. Edit digital video files. 4. Insert digital video files into a thematic multimedia presentation.

MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION 1. Create an outline/storyboard for a presentation. 2. Create a thematic presentation using text, graphics, drawing tools, audio and video capabilities, etc. 3. Use rubrics to evaluate your own presentations and the presentations of others.

GRADING PROCEDURES Classwork (discussion and written/project-based assignments) 25% Practice Assessments (Checking for Comprehension-Assessment for learning) 30% Performance Assessments (Assessment of learning) 45%

CLASS WORK AND TEST POLICY  Participation in activities, class work, and videography is required. If you are absent, it is your responsibility for completing the work that has been missed by the due date during lunch or after school.  Assessments will be completed as assigned. ALL assessments are presented and viewed by entire class. If you are absent the date of the assessment/test, but you have received all necessary instruction/information, it will be taken the day you return to class. If time is needed outside of class, you are responsible for attending the make-up date

CLASS PROCEDURES  Come to class each day on-time, fully prepared with charged Chromebook and pencil.  Sit in assigned seat before the tardy bell rings.  Dispose of food, drinks, gum, and candy before or immediately after entering the classroom.  Keep work space clean and tidy; also dispose of trash at the end of class. Personal items are placed under the chairs.  Stay seated until the bell rings and the teacher dismisses by tables.  Ask permission before using anything belonging to classmates and teacher.  Care for ALL equipment by refraining from writing or drawing on and removing any tags from equipment.  Stay on task during class remaining out of “Unblocked Games” (which are not permitted), or educational games and (unless curriculum based).
