  • SHAKE YOUR FAITH Diamond Day Records Is Very Excited to Announce the Release of the Steepwater Band’S 6Th Full-Length Studio Album SHAKE YOUR FAITH
THE STEEPWATER BAND : SHAKE YOUR FAITH Diamond Day Records is very excited to announce the release of The Steepwater Band’s 6th full-length studio album SHAKE YOUR FAITH. The LP features 11 brand new TSB tracks, and is slated for release on Friday, April 1st via Double 180 Gram Vinyl, Compact Disc and Digital Download. The album was recorded last winter at Crushtone Studios, in the shadows of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, in Cleveland, Ohio. Shake Your Faith was produced by the band along with seasoned rock studio veteran Jim Wirt, who has also worked with the likes of Fiona Apple, Incubus and the Buffalo Killers. As with most TSB albums, the sound and songwriting on Shake Your Faith has grown and expanded, yet retained the true nature of the band. It’s the first TSB studio record in over 4 years and the first to include “new” guitarist Eric Saylors. "SHAKE YOUR FAITH is a stomping, seductive cry that real rock 'n' roll is alive and well in a band with the swagger, justified confidence, and badass tunes of a modern classic, a collection with all the heart and hips of 70s Stones and serious competition to contemporaries like The Black Keys, Ben Harper, and Jack White." - Dennis Cook {Dirty Impound} • Their song “Dance Me a Number” from Revelation Sunday receives nearly 10,000 spins on Pandora daily, on such channels as The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, White Stripes, Led Zeppelin, and more. • Their 2010 single The Stars Look Good Tonight reached # 109 on the Triple A radio charts and it was featured during the June 29, 2010, WGN-TV (nationally syndicated) broadcast of the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball game.

Cut from the same cloth as Al Tuck or Peter Elkas, Bahamas is a sleepy, soulful project for an artist with great instincts and the will to execute deceptively simple music with knowing taste. Though the instrumentation is often understated, songs like "Hockey Teeth" reveal a classic sensibility whose wooing charms become more apparent with subsequent listens. The acoustic finger- style and slide guitar employed on "For Good Reason" push the song out of the ordinary, while a great pop heart beats loudly within the sparse, heartbroken "What's Worse?" Five years in the making, Pink Strat finds Bahamas in a pleasant yet emergent state with a promising future ahead. • Reading Seventies Nostalgia in Late-Nineties Rock Music
View metadata, citation and similar papers at core.ac.uk brought to you by CORE provided by Iowa Research Online Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies Volume 5, Issue 1 2004 Article 5 NOSTALGIA ”Funky Days Are Back Again”: Reading Seventies Nostalgia in Late-Nineties Rock Music David Sigler∗ ∗ Copyright c 2004 by the authors. Iowa Journal of Cultural Studies is produced by The Berkeley Electronic Press (bepress). https://ir.uiowa.edu/ijcs “Funky Days Are Back Again”: Reading Seven ties Nostalgia in Late-Nineties Rock Music David Sigler Observers of North American and British popular culture witnessed a strange and richly interesting phenomenon unfold between 1995 and 1999. During this period, the culture industry and its creative talent insistently described itself through Sev enties imagery. The period oversaw the theatrical release of Jackie Brown, 54, and Velvet Goldmine as well as the television debut of That 970s Show, The State's “Barry and Levon,” and the Travoltaesque Jack and Steve Butabi on Saturday Night Live. In response to our appetite for Seventies icons, formerly popular bands like the Sex Pistols, Steely Dan, Page and Plant, the Bee Gees, and the Guess Who scrambled to re-form after twenty-year hiatuses. Costumed hard-rockers Marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie, working in the tradition of Alice Cooper and KISS, became high school anthem-bearers. It seems that the late Nineties endured a flood of Seventies imagery across its popular media. In an effort to reexamine the mechanics of popular nostalgia, this essay will engage only a small—but astonishing—corner of this phenomenon: the present- looking Seventies nostalgia of the late Nineties in rock music.

  • Album of the Week: Wilco’S Star Wars
Album Of The Week: Wilco’s Star Wars Once in a while, a talented and established band will blindside the masses with an unexpected release. It causes a buzz for a few days among the band’s loyal fans. That’s pretty much what happened when Chicago Americana rock act Wilco unexpectedly released Star Wars a few days ago. The release has a fuzzy psychedelic edge to it, glossing over Jeff Tweedy’s trademark rhythmic strums while unleashing guitar slinging madman Nels Cline on every track. Definitely a refreshing record to come out in a year filled with musical gems, Star Wars reaches for the skies. The band’s 9th studio album, Star Wars has a lot of grit. Wilco strays even more away from the pop sensibilities of previous albums Sky Blue Sky and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot and gets back to their roots. It has a similar sound to the band’s 1995 debut A.M., but there’s a heavier bass tone and you’ll hear tinges of garage rock and blues. A few tracks are absolutely nasty (in a good way) and soulful; you can’t help but dig what Wilco is doing from front to back. Ladies and gentlemen, Star Wars is proof that one of America’s favorite rock bands just got weirder. The name of Wilco’s new album is pretty interesting, huh? Star Wars? Did George Lucas help finance the record? Are Wilco the new Mos Eisley house band in The Force Awakens? We’re going to find out from the band sooner or later.
