HOW TO USE the SLeM

Audio conferencing is a meeting among three or more persons in different locations that typically uses handheld wired telephones, speakerphones, or mobile phones. Since audio used during this conference, it is a must to have a clear transmission of everyone's voice while Video conferencing is a meeting among participants in different locations that typically uses computer networks to transmit both audio, text and video data. To participate in video conference, you must have a video camera, microphone, speakers, and video conferencing software along with internet access. The following are the requirements in using the video conferencing: • Audio- sound transmitted from any communicating device • Video- moving visual images usually recorded digitally or by a videotape • Conference- a meeting to discuss a topic • Internet Browser- an application used to access different websites • Internet - the interconnection of computers to access different websites Tools- In this lesson, it is the software accessed via the internet and used by websites for an online program.

Video conferencing is widely used in different fields- from homes, schools, to business establishments. • At home , it helps families and friends to stay connected to loved ones from different places in and out of the country. • In school, it may enable students to see each other, share documents, and discuss lecture even if they are in different cities or even countries. It may also allow virtual field trip. • In businesses, video conferencing is efficient to use not only during meetings, but also when dealing with costumers. Product demonstration, for instance, may be executed more effectively through video conferencing rather than explaining it verbally.

E-Groups - A group (often termed as a community, e-group, or club) is a feature in many social network services that admits users to create, post, comment to, and read from their own interest.

There are different online tools consisting of software’s where one can hold audio-video conferencing simultaneously in different locations and with different e-groups participating and we call it audio-video conferencing tools.

Many individuals, groups, organizations, and business enterprises have come to be so dependent on ICT. We use it for almost everything we do. From studying and researching, leisure and socializing, communicating, doing business, and even exercising, we all use technology in different ways. Thus, we must keep both our hardware and software reliable Be Safe and Responsible The following are some of the safety and responsible practices in using , , audio, and video conferences: 1. Keep your password safe; do not give it away. 2. Most sites only allow participants who are at least 13 years old. Children should be guided by their parents or adults in accessing websites. 3. Respect others and treat them way you would like to be treated. 4. Do not make untrue remarks that embarrass others. 5. Do not use other people’s accounts. 6. Do not share another person’s full name or send his or her photo without permission. 7. Be careful in sharing your personal information. 8. If you are the moderator, post the rules for the participants; if you are participant, follow the rules or netiquette. 9. Be cautious of the messages that you receive. 10. Do not spam or mass mail especially if you want to promote your products. Instead, create a web page or website that will contain all product and service information including pictures.

Audio and Video Conferencing Guidelines Before the conference starts: ➢ Look ( for formal video conferencing) - be concerned about your appearance especially if the conference is formal. Dark or neutral colors of clothing is recommended. ➢ Equipment - make sure to setup your equipment ahead of the scheduled conference so that you can do testing of your camera, headset, microphone and internet connectivity. ➢ Preparations - In case the conference is formal, you must prepare for the agenda of the meeting as well as other materials needed such as pictures, presentations, name tags, and others for video conferencing. ➢ Venue - In case the conference is formal, you must ensure that the venue is quiet. For video conferencing, the overhead lights and reflections must not be placed in the camera’s view. Be aware of potential distractions.

During the conference:

➢ Wait until the speaker finished talking before you respond. ➢ There will be slight delay before you can hear what the speaker is saying. ➢ Be courteous and respectful. ➢ Keep the microphone muted when you are not speaking.

After the conference: ➢ Leave the venue the way it was setup when you arrived
