Situated above the Arctic Circle, the North Cape or Nordkapp is the northernmost point of Europe on the northern coast of the island of Magerøya. The place is especially popular in summer, as many travel here to enjoy the midnight sun or revel in the sights of the setting sun over the from the North Cape Plateau. Hanging low on the horizon, the midnight sun is something that you have to see at least once in your life. The natural, awe-inspiring phenomenon occurs in various destinations in the Arctic Circle. Interestingly enough, Nordkapphallen was mainly built out of stone in 1959 before it underwent construction. To ensure that the visual experience of Nordkapp remained intact, the mountain plateau was used to house large parts of the building. After the new entrance hall was added in 1997, it is now able to accommodate several thousand guests at any one time.
