They capture this actress’s contradictory nature, her exuberance, melancholy and pain. Lebeck also took the photographs that were to accompany the legendary interview Romy Schneider granted ‘Stern’ magazine reporter Michael Jürgs in Quiberon in 1981 – in spite of her previous negative encounters with the German press. The actress had retired to this Breton spa town to recuperate with Hilde, her close friend of many years, keeping her company. The interview and black-and-white photos form the basis of this film that captures the special atmosphere of these three days in which Schneider bares her soul – to breaking point… In the presence of award winning Emily Atef German Film Awards 2018: Film Award in Gold, Outstanding Feature Film, Best Direction, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role - Marie Bäumer, Best Cinematography, Best Film Score Berlin International Film Festival 2018: Nominee Golden Berlin Bear Best Film Screenplay Valeska Grisebach Camera Bernhard Keller Editing Bettina Böhler Starring Meinhard Neumann Reinhardt Wetrek Syuleyman Letifov Veneta Frangova © Komplizen Film WESTERN Director Valeska Grisebach 14 | 09 | 2018 Year 2017 Genre Drama Length 121 mins A group of German construction workers moves to a construction site in the border region between Bulgaria and Greece. She joins the art commune of Worpswede, and in 1899, she makes a fateful study trip to Paris. There she meets Otto Modersohn, whom she marries in 1901. Artist Clara Westhoff and writer Rainer Maria Rilke become her like-minded friends, yet despite her vast talent the significance of Paula Becker’s paintings is only recognized after her premature death in 1907. Despite the challenges we and the industry are facing, we are optimistic about 2021. This is because we love cinema and good films and series – and particularly in these difficult times, they are also some thing that is needed by audiences around the world. Time and again in recent years, German feature films and series have succeeded in captivating viewers abroad, and we are confident that this will be the case in 2021 as well. In particular, the new wave of German documentaries is establishing itself increasingly as a favourite with international audiences. We are just as proud of the German Films campaign FACE TO FACE, which has been in existence for six years now, and delighted that we will be able to continue it with a great new pool of talent in 2021 – despite the difficult current conditions. Films and series are created through the work of a large team, which is why we have decided to highlight a greater diversity of film professions in 2021 and are proudly presenting the premiere of our new faces in this issue of GFQ. German Films Quarterly will broaden its format in 2021: We will also open our publication to contri butions dealing with internationally controversial topics in the film industry.

MIPCOM 2010 Line-Up Booth R31.01A Phone: +33 (0) 4 92 99 88 53 www.betafilm.com Visit our Screeningroom! Miniseries (2 x two hours, HD) Hindenburg - The Last Flight An awe-inspiring airship. A murderous conspiracy. A devastating catastrophe. Frankfurt, May 1937. The Hindenburg, the world's largest airship, is getting ready to fly to New York. A vehicle of staggering dimensions, it is the pride of Nazi Germany. But it has one serious flaw: due to an American embargo preventing the sale of helium to Germany, the Hindenburg is filled with highly combustible hydrogen gas instead. To Merten Kröger, an engineer who helped design the Hindenburg, the ship is a stick of dynamite waiting for a spark. The young man of great charm but modest means has fallen in love with the wealthy Jennifer van Zandt, the daughter of an American industrialist who wants to sell helium to the Germans. Just before the ship takes off, Merten learns how far the industrialist will go: he has had a bomb placed on the airship. What van Zandt didn't know is that his wife and daughter would be on board. Merten sneaks aboard the airship without a minute to spare. The young couple is reunited, and despite the great difference in class and social status between them, Jennifer, too, avows her love for Merten. He tells her of the bomb hidden somewhere on the airship. But there is little time for explanations, since Merten must flee: he is being sought for a murder he says he did not commit.
