Wingecarribee Child and Family Services 2013 DIRECTORY The aim of the interagency The aim of the interagency is to improve outcomes for families and children and young people in the Wingecarribee area through: • Promoting the goals of Child and Family Services by utilising the framework of Families NSW, KTS & YAPA as a guide. • Providing a communication link between Wingecarribee and Macarthur Child & Family Service Providers. • Co-coordinating services to families and children and reducing duplication • Encouraging community involvement and participation eg. Family Fun Days, Community Directory, community members - eg parents, educators & paediatricians. • Identifying local needs and planning appropriate responses. • Sharing information amongst services - working together to support each other including cross promotion and incorporating best practice. • Promote up-to-date and relevant information about services reaching the right target groups. • Providing advocacy and representation to decision-makers to influence planning and resource allocation (via Families NSW). • Encourage diverse (CALD, special needs, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders) groups to be included in planning, resource allocation and development activities. • Representative from Highlands Child, to attend the Macarthur Child & Family lnteragency (Mac CFI) and to other regional forums and provide feedback and information share to the Highlands Child. • Encourage services with responsibility in Wingecarribee to actively engage with the community and Highlands Child -

Director of Focus Education, Mr. John Joseph is an experienced classroom practitioner, Project Offer with the education department in South Australia, university lecturer in teacher-education and provider of conferences, seminars, workshops and on-line learning methodologies for practicing educators. His prime focus lies in the field of recent brain research and educational practices congruent with this. The mission of Focus Education is to provide the most current information and quality advice possible, to educators and educational administrators, at the most competitive rate achievable. In eleven years of operating, Mr Joseph has presented over 1,400 full days of Professional Learning to over 300,000 educators representing more than 3,500 schools across 18 countries. Additionally, he has provided full day workshops to more than 200,000 students. His websites attract over 1 million visitors and downloads annually. He has written 6 books, published 3 CD Roms, 6 DVDs and published over 100 articles. Mr Joseph has presented over 50 international conference keynote addresses and works in schools across the globe as a visiting scholar, provider of professional learning services for staff, workshops for students and seminars for parents. He has also presented to all of Australia’s Supreme Court and Federal Court Judges on education issues and works regularly with health professionals, corporate organisations, public entities and community groups. -

Chapter XIII Potpourri Potpourri can mean lots of things. According to Bill Gates’ Thesaurus Review it includes: miscellany, mixture, ragbag, assortment, hodgepodge, collection, jumble, variety, medley, assembly and hotchpotch. I think that should just about cover it? It’s what you do when you don’t know what to do; or where to put or place anything which doesn’t fit anywhere else? I’ve decided to make this my repository. Much of it is nonetheless an integral part of the memoir. For some they will be visionary vignettes; for others pure vinegar. Jessie Conrad wrote of her husband Joseph after he died: “I was thankful when one of those most intimate friends, John Galsworthy (The Forsyte Saga), Edward Garnett or E. L. Sanderson could be induced to pay us a visit, for a long week-end. The effect of their sympathetic and sustaining presence would lubricate the mental machinery, so to speak, and a good advance would be made.” Here’s hoping. Dr David Barton Warden OAM and Dr William John Houston Paradice OAM I am proud that I have successfully nominated Dr David Warden and Dr John Paradice for Order of Australia Awards under the Australian Honours System. Both were given the Medal of the Order (OAM) for service worthy of particular recognition. They joined erstwhile colleague Dr Toby Barton OAM.
