Raf Valley Real Operations RAF VALLEY REAL OPERATIONS IVAO XU SPECIAL OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT XU-SO Raf Valley Real Operations V1.0 GENERAL Overview Royal Air force station Valley (RAF Valley) is one of the busiest military airfields in the UK with both the initial and advanced fast jet training taking place here. Also due to its location RAF valley regularly plays host to visiting aircraft from both the RAF and allied air forces. Because of this, various types of missions operate to and from RAF Valley, we would like you to get a taste of the sorts of operations that are undertaken at RAF Valley. Therefore the United Kingdom and Ireland’s Special operations department would like you to RAF Valley Real Operations. You will have the opportunity to take part in many types of missions, including low flight in the world-famous Mach loop or High energy manoeuvres over the Irish sea. Date and Time Date: 31/01/2021 Time: 1400z-1700z Verbal Briefing Attendance for the briefing IS NOT MANDATORY. A verbal Briefing will take place at: Time - 1400z Server - IVAO Special Operations Department Discord Room- #event-voice-1 Definitions The following are definitions of some acronyms used throughout this document: Term Explanation GAT General Air Traffic (e.g. Filed IFR or VFR under S, N or G) OAT Operational Air Traffic (e.g. Filed IFR or VFR under M) TACAN Tactical Air Navigation System RAF Royal Air Force XU IVAO United Kingdom and Ireland Division International Virtual Aviation Organisation XU-SO Raf Valley Real Operations V1.0 Pilots Guidelines ● Aircraft must be suitable for their task they are planning on completing. ● General aviation will not be allowed to operate at RAF Valley for the duration of the event, but this does not include civil SAR aircraft. ● Pilots MUST register before the event if they wish to take part. ● Formations/Groups will be permitted to participate. ● It is recommended that aircraft arriving from another country should operate as GAT until reaching UK airspace. Arrival ● Pilots wanting to fly in for the event may arrive during the event. ● Pilots are reminded that all airspace above FL195 in the United Kingdom is Class C airspace and must obtain clearance before entering this airspace. Rules ● Special Operations pilots shall maintain separation from GAT traffic under supervision of ATC at all times. ● Pilots are NOT PERMITTED to exceed Mach 0.95 at any time during the event unless ATC permission is granted. Controllers Guidelines ● Controllers must have an in-depth understanding of the exercises and phraseology of Special Exercises in the United Kingdom and Ireland Division. ● Controllers should be understanding and accommodating of pilots who are unfamiliar with Special Exercises phraseology and procedures and should assist where possible. ● Controllers must use clear English when there is an apparent misunderstanding in instructions. Low-level flight Aircraft Type: Jet Fighters/ Trainers, Light/ Medium Transport, Helicopters, Training aircraft. Missions: To maintain your low-level currency, you shall fly 3 laps of the Mach loop in Low flying area 7 (LFA7). Route: This flight will be conducted as VFR outside controlled airspace. Below is the advised route for the Mach loop but must fly your own navigation to the entry. The best way to navigate the route is visually via the river mouths and roads. Equipment / Personal Transport Aircraft Type: Transport aircraft Missions: To transport equipment/personnel to RAF Northolt, the runway length and the proximity to Heathrow means this approach will be challenging especially for larger aircraft. Route: IFR: Below is the suggested route, to join controlled airspace at DOLOP (< FL195). After NUGRA it is expected that you will fly a STAR for EGLL and be vectored to Northolt. High Energy Manoeuvre Practice Aircraft Type: Jet Fighter, Jet/Turbo Trainer Missions: To conduct aircraft handling training within the Valley aerial tactics training area. You should use this area for at least 15min. If a formation of aircraft wishes they can use their time to conduct tail chase style exercises. This type of exercise must be pre-planned by the flight, and all pilots must consent . SAR Practice Aircraft Type: Helicopter Missions: To conduct an practise Search and Rescue extraction by flying to and from Caernarfon airport (EGCK) low level. This can be flown as a solo, twin or trio aircraft being careful of any Civilian aircraft routing into or out of Caernarfon. If pilots wish they may practice a winch rescue. Route/Area: As the route is to be flown VFR and low level, the routing is the pilot’s own responsibility maintaining clear of controlled airspace except for in the Valley area. Introduction The school cadet organisation originates from 1859, when schools at Eton, Harrow, Rugby, Rossall, Felsted, Hurstpierpoint, Winchester and Tonbridge formed armed uniformed units as part of a national reserve to counter a perceived threat from abroad. By 1900, cadet units were established in over 100 schools across the country and in 1908, these units were re-titled the Officer Training Corps (OTC). In 1948, the OTC was renamed the Combined Cadet Force. The aim of the Combined Cadet Force is to provide a framework through which young people develop the qualities of team work, self-reliance, resourcefulness, leadership and responsibility. A weekly programme of military training is designed to give young people at King’s a chance to exercise responsibility and leadership, to provide them with knowledge of our defence forces, and to encourage those who might be interested in becoming officers of the Armed Services. Uniform members of the Combined Cadet Force will regularly stay on Royal Air Forces bases, therefore it is important that cadets are able to demonstrate an awareness of the structure and organisation of the Royal Air Force, its role in the defence of the United Kingdom and her interests and the operations in which the Royal Air Force are currently engaged.

Llanfaelog village has a selection of shops and restaurants for day trippers and families. Cemaes is a small town overlooking a picturesque sheltered bay on the far north coast of Anglesey. Cemaes Beach Cemaes LL67 0ND Within the bay and next to the town, Traeth Mawr is a sandy beach with rock pools and a promenade. There is a slipway giving access to disabled visitors. A great place for nature and bird watching, shore and kayak fishing, kayaking and rock pooling. A large Cemlyn Bay Cemaes LL67 0DU shingle ridge separates the sea from the salt and fresh water lagoon which becomes a hive of activity in the summer months when terns arrive to nest here.

    St Athan Development Brief July 2006 i Executive Summary • The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) is currently promoting the development of the St Athan site as a major centre of excellence in the economy. • The Ministry of Defence (MoD) is seeking to provide a streamlined and more efficient training programme for the three Services via a Public Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement under the MoD’s Defence Training Review (DTR). • Metrix, in association with the WAG, is bidding to bring a major part of this training provision to South Wales and the St Athan site. • The site at St Athan meets the requirements for delivering a world-class Training Academy alongside the Welsh Assembly Government and WDA’s proposals to create an Aerospace Centre of Excellence. • Redevelopment at St Athan would provide inward investment and local jobs in an area that has seen recent job losses. • The Training Academy and the Aerospace Centre of Excellence can be accommodated on the St Athan site and would be complementary. • Due to the scale of the development being proposed, the proposed Training Academy would be able to incorporate the recently completed Super-Hangar at St Athan and therefore maintain a beneficial use for this building. • The Training Academy will result in about 4,000 “jobs” being brought to and created on the site, of which about 2.300 will be civilians employed at the Academy, plus another 1,500 new jobs being created outside the site as a result of indirect or induced employment. • St Athan was the largest station in the RAF in terms of personnel from about 1940 to the end of the millennium and, at its peak, there were 14,000 personnel present on the site, compared to the 10,000 personnel now proposed for the Training Academy.

    2011 'Alerts' are now included among the list of incidents - for general interest and as a result of a change in national reporting policy. These 'alerts', however, are not added to the tally of 'rescues'. A man, walking alone, reported himself to be lost in the Cat Bells area. We spoke to him on his Cat Bells - Maiden Moor mobile phone and were able to ascertain that he had a torch and GPS and was on a path. Putting 01-Jan 18:59 area everything together, he was advised to walk downhill to, hopefully, arrive in Grange village - which he did by 20:15 hrs. A 46 year old lady slipped on ice and broke her arm. Conditions were very cold, so it was fortunate for all concerned that the Great North Air Ambulance was able to fly to the scene and 1 03-Jan 13:00 Blencathra summit take her to hospital in Carlisle. 15 members - 1 hour 30 minutes 2 walkers got lost in a whiteout and went to ground in a stone shelter. We worked out where they probably were from information given over the phone. We found them very cold but 2 07-Jan 15:20 Bowscale Fell summit otherwise well and walked them back down to the valley. 23 members - 3 hours 25 minutes 2 climbers got into trouble when completing the climb and requested help in getting out of the Great End - Left Hand 3 08-Jan 17:10 gully. They were encountered by 2 other climbers doing the same route, who were able to help Groove them out of their predicament.
