Honorary Life Directors Best wishes, Mary Louise Miller Carmi Murphy Thomas Slager *Deceased Charter Director Greg Giczi President & General Manager 2 2021 WNIT Day of Giving Thank You for making the 2021 WNIT Day of Giving a Huge Success At WNIT, we are continuously awed and inspired by the generosity of you, our donors. With $28,500 in matching funds, we unlocked the full match for the 2021 Day of Giving. Leading up to and on May 27, we received a total, including the matching funds, of $71,183 from 118 donors. Thank you to all who participated in making this our largest annual individual giving event! 2021 marked the fourth annual WNIT Day of Giving, a concept adopted from the successful model used by the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County for their Give Local SJC Days in 2015 and 2017 in support of area non-profit organizations. With a leadership gift from the Estate of Jack and Shirley Appleton and additional funds from Bill and Lorrie Schmuhl, Thomas and Anita Veldman and other friends of WNIT, we were able to increase our matching funds over last year’s level. This generosity resulted in another successful day of fundraising on May 27. WNIT prides itself on the positive impact we have on our community. From quality local productions, to the best of PBS programming, to the curriculum-based PBS Kids shows and online learning materials, we offer only the highest quality programming. In the past year, we have expanded that service to include a temporary (now permanent – see more on page 10) Learning Channel with supporting curriculum for at-home learning. It is only through the generous support of each of you that we are able to accomplish all of this. Thank you for the resources that you provide to PBS Michiana - WNIT to make this a better Michiana! 3 WNIT Channel Guide DISH/DIRECTV COMCAST OR AT&T MEDIACOM U-VERSE * Public Media SD SD SD HD SD HD SD HD 34.2 34.2 INDIANA 4 704 120 Argos - - 371 34 - 4 704 120 Bourbon - - 371 34 - 4 704 120 Bremen - - 371 34 - 4 704 120 Bristol 10 191 371 34 - - - - Culver - - 371 34 - 4 704 120 Elkhart 10 191 371 34 - - - - Goshen 10 191 371 34 - - - - Jefferson Township 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Knox - - 371 34 1034 4 704 120 LaGrange County - - 371 34 1034 3 704 - Lakeville - - 371 34 1034 4 704 120 LaPaz - - 371 34 1034 4 704 120 LaPorte (city) – 26 371 34 1034 - - - LaPorte County (Eastern) 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - LaPorte County (Western) – 26 371 34 1034 - - - Leesburg - - - - - 4 704 120 Michigan City - 26 371 34 1034 - - - Mishawaka 10 191 371 34 1034 - - 371 Middlebury 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Milford - - - - - 4 704 120 Nappanee 10 191 371 34 1034 4 704 120 North Judson 10 191 371 34 1034 4 704 120 North Liberty 10 191 371 34 1034 4 704 120 North Webster - - - - - 4 704 120 Pierceton - - - - - 4 704 120 Visit us at wnit.org Plymouth 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Porter County – 26 371 34 1034 - - - Rochester 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - South Bend 10 191 371 34 1034 - - 371 Syracuse - - 371 34 1034 4 704 120 Tippecanoe - - - - - 4 704 120 Valparaiso – 26 371 34 1034 - - - Walkerton - - 371 34 1034 4 704 - Wakarusa 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Warsaw 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Winamac 10 191 - - - - - - MICHIGAN Benton Harbor 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Berrien Springs 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Buchanan 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Cassopolis 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Constantine 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Dowagiac 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Edwardsburg 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - New Buffalo 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Niles 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - Sister Lakes 10 191 371 - - - - - Stevensville 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - St. Joseph (city) 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - MAILING ADDRESS Three Rivers 11 - - - - - - - WNIT Center for Public Media White Pigeon 10 191 371 34 1034 - - - PO Box 7034 South Bend, IN 46634-7034 CHARTER CABLE IN STURGIS, MI HAS REASSIGNED ITS CHANNELS STREET ADDRESS Original positions are: Base Tier 300 West Jefferson Boulevard WNIT 34.1, #2. The Peterson Institute for International Economics is a private nonpartisan, nonprofit institution for rigorous, intellectually open, and indepth study and discussion of international economic policy. Its purpose is to identify and analyze important issues to make globalization beneficial and sustainable for the people of the United States and the world, and then to develop and communicate practical new approaches for dealing with them. Its work is funded by a highly diverse group of philanthropic foundations, private corporations, and interested individuals, as well as income on its capital fund. About 35 percent of the Institute’s resources in its latest fiscal year were provided by contributors from outside the United States. A list of all financial supporters for the preceding six years is posted at https://piie.com/sites/default/files/supporters.pdf. Preface International trade is a more prominent issue in this year’s presidential campaign than it has been in de- cades, if ever. Certainly, some of this attention is due to the combination of stagnating average incomes in the United States over the long term and the severe damage wrought by the American financial crisis of 2008–10.

Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres by Vivian Le A THESIS submitted to Oregon State University Honors College in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems (Honors Scholar) Presented May 29, 2020 Commencement June 2020 AN ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS OF Vivian Le for the degree of Honors Baccalaureate of Science in Accounting and Business Information Systems presented on May 29, 2020. Title: Visual Metaphors on Album Covers: An Analysis into Graphic Design’s Effectiveness at Conveying Music Genres. Abstract approved:_____________________________________________________ Ryann Reynolds-McIlnay The rise of digital streaming has largely impacted the way the average listener consumes music. Consequentially, while the role of album art has evolved to meet the changes in music technology, it is hard to measure the effect of digital streaming on modern album art. This research seeks to determine whether or not graphic design still plays a role in marketing information about the music, such as its genre, to the consumer. It does so through two studies: 1. A computer visual analysis that measures color dominance of an image, and 2. A mixed-design lab experiment with volunteer participants who attempt to assess the genre of a given album. Findings from the first study show that color scheme models created from album samples cannot be used to predict the genre of an album. Further findings from the second theory show that consumers pay a significant amount of attention to album covers, enough to be able to correctly assess the genre of an album most of the time.
