Further to the information provided in document GC(XXVI)/672, the Director General presents, in the Annexes hereto, statistical data on the Professional staffing situation in the Secretariat for the period 1 September 1981 - 1 September 1982. 2. The data relate only to staff in posts that are subject to geographical distribution; staff in linguistic posts (i.e. interpreters, revisers, trans­ lators and editors) are not covered. 3. During the period 1 September 1981 - 1 September 1982, 97 vacancy noticeb were issued. Of these, 82 had been closed by 1 September 1982. Eighty-eight persons were appointed on the basis of these 82 vacancy notices, some of which related to more than one post. THE CONSERVATIVE PROGRAM IS A WOMEN'S ISSUE Mimi Abramovitz, DSW Hunter College School of Social Work ABSTRACT The Conservative program strikes deeply at the institutions that support the economic independence and security of women. This paper reviews social welfare budget cuts, the relaxation of affirmative action and workplace health and safety rules, and the social issues agenda of the New Right for their impact on women's economic, social and political status. It describes how the Reagan Administration's economic recovery program victimizes women, especial- ly minority women. Not only is the "feminization" of poverty intensified, but women are sent from the paid labor market back to unpaid labor in the home, aided and abetted by the social issues agenda of the New Right. The Administration's domestic program is analyzed in the context of its broader strategy for coping with the current economic crisis.

The list normally indicates the date for the first tariff cut; following cuts would be implemented according to the general staging rules in paragraph 2(a) of the Geneva (1979) Protocol and the Supplementary Protocol, unless otherwise indicated. Special staging rules for particular types of products are not indicated but a reference to the Schedule concerned is made, where relevant. The indication "entry into force of bindings" signifies that the concessions became legally valid on the date indicated but that no reduction was made at that date, the applied rates already being at or below the level of the concession.
