Living under an infinite sky filled with the man in the moon, twinkling lights, shooting stars, and quiet dreaming. Which star is the “second star on the right”? “Star light, star bright, The first star I see tonight; I wish I may, I wish I might, Have the wish I wish tonight” I got my wish! I never had the chance to play the role of “Peter Pan”, but the next best thing was to give my students an opportunity to experience the treasured tale. “Peter Pan” is a musical adaptation of J. M. Barrie’s 1904 play. Once again, musical theatre allows adults to escape from reality while inspiring and stirring children’s imaginations. You might say that at the ripe old age of (?), I was “hooked”. Imprinted on my mind after all these years were the emotional and personal themes in the writing; the nostalgia for childhood and play, the recognition that we all must cross into the

This production will be directed by Travis Daly, with music direction by Jacob Kerzner and will run July 2–July 26 at The Colonial Theatre, 111 South Street, in Pittsfield, MA. Auditions will take place Monday, March 9 from 6pm–9pm and Wednesday, March 11 from 6pm–9pm at The Colonial Theatre. Auditions are by appointment only. To schedule an audition time slot, please call 413-448-8084 ext. 80. The roles are open to actors of all ethnicities, 2nd grade through adults. Student auditions will be held during the first two hours of each session, and the last hour will be held for adults. Adults should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a song, and bring the accompanying sheet music that is in the key in which they prefer to sing. Students should come prepared to learn songs from Peter Pan. Callbacks will take place as needed. Rehearsals will start May 18 and occur approximately six days a week including evenings, weekends (including some Sundays) and some weekdays. All rehearsals will take place in Pittsfield. Participants will take part in the 4th of July parade.

    NEW YORK STORY: JEROME ROBBINS AND HIS WORLD Donald and Mary Oenslager Gallery The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts Exhibition Curated by Lynn Garafola March 25 – June 28, 2008 The labels, wall exits, and reflections that follow are an effort to revisit an exhibition that did not, alas, have a published catalogue or a robust website. Exhibitions are like performances. When they close, they are dismantled, and the objects, their magic gone, sent back to their boxes. In revisiting this material, I wanted to evoke the experience of walking through the Donald and Mary Oenslager Gallery of the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, with the reader enjoying by suggestion and as an act of imagination the numerous objects on display tracing the remarkable career of Jerome Robbins as an artist of the ballet, Broadway, and concert stage in mid-twentieth-century New York. This is the second of three exhibitions I have curated about ballet in New York City from the 1930s to the late twentieth century. As such it complements Dance for a City: Fifty Years of the New York City Ballet (New-York Historical Society, 1999) and Arthur Mitchell: Harlem’s Ballet Trailblazer (Wallach Art Gallery, 2018). He protests that it's not time for bed, but Nana takes him to be bathed anyway. Mrs. Darling comes in and Wendy and John demonstrate the game they've been playing, "being you and father." Mr. Darling rushes in, angry that he can't tie his tie properly and demanding that Mrs. Darling tie it for him. He dramatizes the situation by saying that if the tie isn't tied, they can't go to dinner, and if they can't go to dinner, he can't go to work. If he can't go to work, the family will starve. The children are worried, but Mrs. Darling suc- cessfully ties the tie, and everyone relaxes. Nana, meanwhile, comes in to get John for his bath.
