5th grade ELA We have completed Personal Narratives this quarter, in which students wrote a true story about an event or sequence of events in their lives. The topic can range in complexity from a story that is simple and entertaining to a story that is complex and riveting. The purpose of this assignment was to develop real experiences or events using an effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. Students produced clear and coherent writing, and with guidance and support from peers and teachers, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, and rewriting. The final round of the Spelling Bee was conducted last month and the top winners will attend the regional fair in February 2019. Sis. Meher

Science The chapter we have been working on has been very interesting for students. We are comparing plants and animals and discussing their survival traits. We have also planted our bean seeds which has helped to make our learning experience more hands on. During this unit we also had the chance to include a discussion about the ways Deen and Islamic teachings relate to what we are currently learning. I am quite happy to report that as of now our class average 100.3%! This means students have been working extra hard this quarter. Congratulations 5th grade! As Salam Aleykum, Brother Sayel A.
