I work across disciplines in theatre, music, visual arts, festival, film, community and education. Each project or event is carefully tailored, drawing on a network of contacts, partner organisations and talented individuals offering a unique and professional package. Address 66 Murray Street As a cultural sector practitioner, I’m credited over the years with projects ranging from York, YO24 4JA producing the huge Bradford Mela Festival (with over 200,000 attendees) to event managing tel 07970 950552 the York Mystery Plays. From co-ordinating a young people’s carnival parade in Sri Lanka to mail [email protected] project managing the Illuminating York Festival. url benpugh.wordpress.com twitter twitter.com/benpugh I have commissioned and delivered work in a wide range of settings – from the Mumbai slums to New York; encompassing public parks, heritage sites, theatres, museums, galleries, town squares, botanical gardens; everything from rugged moors to NCP car-parks. Having worked with numerous different organisations running a huge variety of projects, I’ve built up a clear picture of what makes for successful engagement, what makes a successful project and what is viable with the available resources. Pulling these three strands together and making all three elements work is always a personal challenge driven by a desire to help people realise their vision. I offer a range of skills for individual projects, from a commitment to delivering long-term strategic development and bringing together partners, to the actual realisation ‘on site’ of events. From planning to fund-raising to the co-ordination of volunteers; managing contractors and stakeholders as well as all the practical infra-structure, I pay attention to the detail to ensure a thorough and consistent approach throughout the life-time of the project to help fully realise its potential. As a management consultant, I’ve provided strategic support and organisational development to a number of cultural sector organisations. On-going questions about how business engages with the local community; how the arts can influence and feed regeneration; and what the sectors can offer to or learn from each other, continually permeate my approach to each individual project. As well as a degree in Technical Theatre I hold a Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Management and I’m currently in my the final stage of studying for an MBA with the Open University. I’ve completed modules in Managing Performance and Change, Strategy, Managing Creativity and Innovation and Marketing Strategy. I work to stay current and have undertaken training in numerous areas ranging from Prince2 Project Management to counter terrorism planning. I’m a member of various of trade associations and am proud to be a Fellow of the RSA. Full details of all projects and clients can been seen on my webpages at www.benpugh.wordpress.com.
