QCC PLANS IN RELATION TO THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC Clearly the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has sparked an emergency across our community & the World. A situation that has developed and changes weekly. There can be no denying the exponential growth in this virus’s spread, so as you are no doubt aware, there are a number of government restrictions and health recommendations which are already in place, and new ones being introduced at times, we seem to have respectable control of the Virus in Queensland, but this still will affect the way the Queensland Corvette Club Inc. can operate in the future. The Management Committee conveys to all QCC Members that they must comply with all the up to date Government Regulations/Restrictions & respect your other Members & their Family on all Events/ Runs going into the future.

PRESIDENTS REPORT MARCH 2021
Hi fellow Corvetters, here we go again in lockdown hopefully everyone copes well and it only lasts for the three days. Last month’s runs were well attended - thank you for all your support and hope- fully we see more of you in the coming months.
FYI - please note that we have moved the Belvedere Hotel run to Sunday 20th June, sorry for any inconvenience.
The David Hack Classic Meet at Toowoomba Airport is coming up in the middle of May. I do need some feedback if you are interested in attending so I can organise parking. This will be an early morning departure, approx. 6.15 am, from Rocklea driving for around 1.5 hrs and approx. 125kms. $10 entry fee per vehicle to show our Vettes - there will be more info/Run Write-up in the May Vetteletter.
Jumpers & Jazz / Car Display at Warwick in July, I am considering 2 options: • Option 1: Saturday run and staying overnight and the Show Sunday. • Option 2: Leaving early on the Sunday morning for just the day with a 2hr run and 150km. If you could let me know if you are interested in attending because if we are staying overnight, I will need to book accommodation early.
Corvettes on the Coast 2021 @ Carrara Markets is confirmed for Sunday 30th May and organisation is well underway. The flyer is in this Vetteletter and I will be sending out a bulk email with entrant’s forms and conditions of entry in the next week. The Committee has approved no charge for Qld Cor- vette Club Members and $10 for any other Corvette which will be donated to our charities, every Entrant will receive a $20 food voucher to redeem at the Hungry Hub.
The committee has discussed membership fees for 2022 and this will be brought to the April Club Meeting for discussion and approval. Should you wish to be involved in this decision then we look for- ward to seeing you at the meeting.
Please support your Club where and when you can, and hopefully I will see you on one of the runs soon. Do not forget please to let the Trip Leaders know if you are attending any Runs/Events so we can organise these appropriately and professionally.

Set up by 7.00 a.m. as shop opens at 8.00 a.m. - Do not have to be there too long, all help appreciated for the day - Further details in club magazine • Belvedere Hotel at Woody Point - Cruise & Lunch - date to be advised. • 23rd April - Friday night dinner - venue to be advised - maybe a Chinese or Indian restaurant. • 16th May - David Hack Classic Meet - should be a good day in Toowoomba - write up in future Vetteletter. • 30th May - Carrara Markets - Annual Concourse/Show’n’Shine will be all undercover with loads of stalls for browsing. Shannons, Performax, Mothers and both our charities will be supporting us on the day. Attendance will be important as we must arrive at 7am before stalls open and stay until 3pm • 18th July - Sunday at Warwick - Jumpers and Jazz Car Show - should be a good day. RACING: C8.R CONFIRMED FOR 2021 24 HOURS OF LE MANS
Pratt & Miller No. 3 C8.R Mid-Engine Corvette Race Car piloted by Antonio Garcia, Jordan Taylor and Nicky Catsburg Corvette Racing Returns to the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the 2021 Season! Both of the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette C8.R race teams have confirmed their participation in the 2021 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on August 21 and 22, 2021. The race, which has been pushed back from its traditional mid-June dates, is expected to have 62 entrants at the time of this publication, making this one of the largest, strongest race fields in years. Last year, Corvette Racing withdrew from the event. In a statement from Jim Campbell, vice-president of motorsports and performance, he explained “several factors played into our decision, including current conditions and the re-scheduled timing.” He also stated that the decision to withdraw from the event was “not an easy one.” The current conditions Campbell referred to centered around the ongoing global COVID health crisis. Ad- ditionally, the IMSA Sportscar Championship calendar in which Pratt & Miller (Corvette Racing) competes, prevented the Corvette Racing team from participating in the re-scheduled 2020 24 Hours of Le Mans, which had been moved from June to September 19-20, 2020. The team’s absence from this event marked the first time since 2000 that Corvette Racing was absent from the 24 Hours of Le Mans .

For the 2021 running of the race, the GTE Pro-class C8.R Corvettes will once more carry their traditional #63 and #64 race numbers and will be driven by their regular drivers. The No. 63 Corvette will be piloted by Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor. They will be joined by Nicky Catsburg as their third driver for the 24 -hour endurance event. The No. 64 will be piloted by Nick Tandy and Tommy Milner, with Alexander Sims joining as their third.
Pratt & Miller No. 4 C8.R Mid-Engine Corvette Race Car piloted by Tom- my Milner, Nick Tandy and Alexander Sims. The return of the Corvette Racing teams to the 24-hour endurance race in Le Mans, France was made possible following a re-structuring of the 2021 IMSA schedule. The Virginia International Raceway (VIR) race, which was originally scheduled for the same weekend as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has been pushed back to October 9th. The Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta (the series finale of the IMSA season) has been moved to Nov 13th. Chevrolet served its notice of intent to return to Le Mans by entering one C8.R for the Algarve WEC round, which has now been pushed back from April to June 2021. The confirmation of the Corvette Rac- ing teams to Le Mans, along with the entry of the Proton Competition-run WeatherTech Racing Porsche 911 RSS has increased the GTE Pro division to a total of seven cars. Five entries in the new Hypercar class, 25 cars in LMP2 and 24 additional cars in GTE AM bring the total race field to the record-setting 62 competitors – the same number of entrants that was expected to start at Le Mans in 2019. Last year’s grid dropped to 59 cars after a series of withdrawals (which included Cor- vette Racing). Pierre Fillon, president of Le Mans and organizer the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, said that the return to a full-strength grid “is a strong signal that our discipline is more appealing than ever”. The five cars in the top Hypercar category on the entry announced on Tuesday is the same number that took part in LMP1 last year. The class is made up of the two Le Mans Hypercars fielded by Toyota and Glickenhaus, plus the solo P1 Alpine-badged ORECA-Gibson run by Signatech, which are all contesting the full WEC.

Chevrolet’s C8 Corvette has been a blockbuster hit since its release. So much so, that it is tough to get your hands on one. This is not usually a bad thing as the demand is kept up, but as of late, the Corvette has had some manufacturing delays due to supply issues. Though it is not all bad news as long as the supply issue resolves, there have been mumblings of some high-performance C8s on the horizon. According to the anonymous information given to Motortrend, the Z06, and ZR1 could be arriving sooner than we think.

The new Z06 apparently will show up to the party without a supercharger, unlike the previous Corvette Z06. Though the power will be delivered by a 5.5-liter flat-plane crank naturally aspirated V8, it will have an output in the 615hp to 625hp ballpark. Sure, it’s not 650 horsepower like the previous supercharged Z06 but Chevrolet has proved that the C8’s make the most of what they are given. The new Z06 can be optioned to include carbon fibre wheels and likely carbon-ceramic brakes, for a price. A full spec C8 Z06 will be expected to cost over $100K, but that won’t hold back hungry Corvette enthusiasts as C8’s are fetching over the sticker price of $60K anyways.
If you think the Z06 will be intense, we still have the proposed 2023 ZR1 Corvette to cover. It will main- tain the same 5.5-liter engine used in the Z06 but will be fitted with two turbochargers. Power output is expected to be about 850 horsepower on the ZR1 and that is about all we know at the moment. As more information comes, we will be sure to give it to you. To ensure Chevrolet has all of the bases covered there have been talks of a plug-in hybrid Corvette. Pre- sumably, it will have three electric motors, two in the front and one in the back. There is no confirmation on the engine that will be fitted but either V8 will get the job done. There are still two more variants left and they will be the most noteworthy. The first is of the all-electric variety, which is a strange one to envision but with modern technology, it has got the potential to blow the doors off of any gas-powered Corvette on the stage. Now for the finale, the hulk, the 2025 Corvette Zora. It will combine the powerplants of the ZR1 and the hybrid Corvette to make something capable of around 1,000 horsepower. It’s no surprise that the Cor- vette Zora would fetch around $150,000 – but as Chevrolet always does, the price for performance ratio will be fair, nay, a bargain. Chevrolet has its plans laid out for the future of high-performance C8’s and we couldn’t be more excited about them.

REPCO MAX CHARITY SAUSAGE SIZZLE RUN REPORT
What a great day for our club members. It was pleasing to see the number of members who turned up to display their cars for this charity event. I really appreciated the number of members who arrived early and helped set up. A tremendous effort! We started cooking around 8am and we continued until just after 1pm. It was reasonably busy around breakfast & lunchtime. While the numbers of people coming into Rep- co Max were down on previous weekends, we still raised a reasonable amount for our charity, Camp Quality. Special thanks must go to Carol & Tony Golles who trans- ported the equipment to and from the site & worked tire- lessly with the help from Mark, Marina & several other members, who took turns in helping with the cooking & serving of food & drinks. All in all, it was a terrific day for the club and the members who took the time to come and display their Vettes & who made themselves available to the public to answer any questions about our corvettes. ALGESTER MEN’S SHED OPENING DAY — 20 MARCH 2021
The New Algester Men’s Shed had their opening Day on Saturday 20th March 2021 . Richard Fitzgerald , a Algester Men’s Shed member, is a long time friend of Andrew D. ( QCC Member) so it was decided to invite the Queensland Corvette Club along for the opening Day. The VW Club were also invited, but no- one came—the weather looked threatening, and only 3 QCC members turned up. Thanks to Jim and Gor- don. I met Peter Martin who used to be a QCC member 25 years ago , and about 3 other guys also men- tioned they owned C3’s. Over 100 people came and went during the day, that made this a successful day—a good cause. Mike Gocs.

REDLAND BAY HOTEL RUN REPORT
Despite the uncertainty of the weather on Sunday 14th March we saw NO rain. 10 Corvettes met at McDonalds Loganholme for the QCC Run to Redland Bay Hotel, via the M1 & Gateway. Those who wanted a Tan, got one, because The Hotel management put us outside – it was extremely hot. The unprecedented popularity of the day saw a huge public attendance, but the food and service were excellent. It was great to See Rob Warner (with daughter Kirra) attend. Rob was on our committee many years ago. Several Cor- vettes met the group at the Hotel. Mike Gocs
