Northern Conference Playoff Teams Game Notes brought to you by: TONIGHT’S GAME – The Colorado Eagles take on the Iowa Wild tonight for just the third time in team history and for the first time at the Budweiser Events Center. THE SEASON SERIES – The Eagles trail in the season series with a record of 0-1-1 after Colorado dropped a pair of games against the Wild in Des Moines, falling 6-5 in OT to Iowa on October 26th and 6-1 on October 27th. THE ALL-TIME SERIES – Tonight marks the third meeting between the Eagles and Wild, both teams are members of the AHL’s Western Conference, with Colorado playing in the Pacific Division and Iowa hailing from the Central Division. EAGLES’ LAST GAME (11/24) – Eagles forward Martin Kaut scored the game-tying goal with 5:19 remaining in regulation and would net the deciding goal in a shootout, as Colorado defeated the San Jose Barracuda, 4-3 last Saturday. The win was the Eagles third consecutive victory and now improves Colorado’s home record to 6-2-2 on the season. Goaltender Pavel Francouz earned his third-straight win in net, stopping 38 of the 41 shots he faced in the contest. WILD’S LAST GAME (11/26) – Defenseman Filip Hronek netted the game-winner 2:53 into overtime, as the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Iowa Wild, 3-2 on Monday. Iowa forwards Cal O’Reilly and Gerald Mayhew each collected a goal in regulation, as the Griffins outshot the Wild 37-22 in the contest. LAST MEETING (10/27) – Iowa Wild forward Jordan Greenway registered a hat trick, while the Wild scored three goals in the second period to propel Iowa to a 6-1 victory over the Colorado Eagles. The Wild scored a pair of goals on the power play, while holding the Eagles 0-for-5 on the man-advantage in the contest. UP NEXT FOR THE EAGLES –Colorado continues its six-game homestand with a game against the Iowa Wild on Saturday, December 1st at 7:05pm at the Budweiser Events Center. The Eagles are tied in the season series with a record of 3-3-0 through the first six meetings. THE ALL-TIME SERIES – The Eagles are 7-7-0 all-time against the Barracuda, including a 5-2-0 mark in games played at the BEC. EAGLES’ LAST GAME (2/7) – Eagles forward A.J. Greer notched two goals and an assist, while goaltender Hunter Miska turned aside 31 of the 32 shots he faced to help Colorado defeat the San Jose Barracuda 5-1 on Friday. Eagles forwards Erik Condra and Shane Bowers each posted a goal and an assist, while fellow forward Jayson Megna netted his second shorthanded goal in the last three games. The victory was the Eagles third straight win and now pulls them to within two points of second place in the AHL’s Pacific Division and just four points out of first place.     BRIDGEPORT SOUND TIGERS: COACHES BIOS BRENT THOMPSON - HEAD COACH Brent Thompson is in his seventh season as head coach of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, which also marks his ninth year in the New York Islanders organization. Thompson was originally hired to coach the Sound Tigers on June 28, 2011 and led the team to a division title in 2011-12 before being named assistant South Division coach of the Islanders for two seasons (2012-14). On May 2, 2014, the Islanders announced Thompson would return to his role as head coach of the Sound Tigers. He is 246-203-50 in 499 career regular-season games as Bridgeport's head coach. Thompson became the Sound Tigers' all-time winningest head coach on Jan. 28, 2017, passing Jack Capuano with his 134th career victory. Prior to his time in Bridgeport, Thompson served as head coach of the Alaska Aces (ECHL) for two years (2009-11), winning the Kelly Cup Championship in 2011. During his two seasons as head coach in Alaska, Thompson amassed a record of 83- 50-11 and won the John Brophy Award as ECHL Coach of the Year in 2011 after leading the team to a record of 47-22-3. Thompson also served as a player/coach with the CHL’s Colorado Eagles in 2003-04 and was an assistant with the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen from 2005-09. Before joining the coaching ranks, Thompson enjoyed a 14-year professional playing career from 1991-2005, which included 121 NHL games and more than 900 professional contests. The Calgary, AB native was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round (39th overall) of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.

THE SERIES – Colorado will face Bakersfield eight times this season, with four of those games taking place at the Budweiser Events Center. The season series stands tied at 1-1 after the first two meetings of the year. THE ALL-TIME SERIES – The Eagles are 5-5-0 all-time against the Condors, including a 3-3-10 mark in games played at the BEC. EAGLES’ LAST GAME (12/17) – Kevin Connauton and Jacob MacDonald each registered four points, as 18 different Eagles registered a point in a 10-4 blowout of the Manitoba Moose on Wednesday. Colorado’s 10 goals were the most the team has scored since joining the AHL last season. The last time the Eagles netted 10 goals was in a 10-3 defeat of the Utah Grizzlies on November 7, 2012. Eight Colorado skaters notched multiple points in the victory, as the power play finished 4-for-10. CONDORS’ LAST GAME (12/14) – Shane Starrett made 20 saves on 21 shots, while Colby Cave and Anthony Peluso each found the back of the net as the Condors defeated the Grand Rapids Griffins. LAST MEETING (11/16) – Tomas Jurco scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the third period, as the Bakersfield Condors netted three unanswered goals to erase a 2-0 deficit and defeat the Colorado Eagles, 3-2. Connor Timmins and Sheldon Dries each scored in the loss for Colorado.
