  • Christ Episcopal Church Upcoming Events
Christ Episcopal Church Chronicle for May 2017 Corner of Ridgecrest Drive and Franklin Turnpike, P.O. Box 10355, Danville, VA 24543-5006 Church Phone: (434) 836-2060 E-Mail: [email protected] www.ChristChurchDanville.org www.facebook.com/ChristEpiscopalDanvilleVA I was recently reading an article titled "Part-Time Hours, Full- hearted Ministry" about the rising trend in mainline church that only have part-time clergy. It mentioned specifically the Episcopal church where 48% of congregations have no paid full time priest. The story wasn't all doom and gloom, but talked about how some churches are flourishing. In these churches, the laity are reclaiming ministries that had been delegated to the clergy. The hardest part for congregations is switching from being Consumers to being Practitioners. "Consumers-of-faith model, where you go and consume whatever is prepared for you and go home" is still successful in large churches where you don't know the person sitting next to you in the pew. But, for small churches like ours, we need members to be Practitioners of the Christian faith with hands-on involvement. I believe Christ Church is on its way to fully embracing the new reality of being a small church. We will always need a priest, whether it's full-time, part-time or supply to perform the Holy Eucharist, but the laity (that's you and I) have been and will continue to take care of the other ministries. I am very proud to be a member of a church where, whenever something needs to be done, several hands go up to volunteer.

  • Catalyst Manufacturing: MAGGI 2-Minute Noodle Wrapper Project
Catalyst Manufacturing: MAGGI 2-minute Noodle wrapper project By LUZANNE RAUTENBACH 25106334 Submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of BACHELORS OF INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING In the FACULTY OF ENGINEERING, BUILT ENVIROMENT AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA October 2010 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The main product manufactured at Catalyst Manufacturing is MAGGI 2-minutes noodles. The noodle line consists of 8 lines which are designed to do 40 cuts x 4 lines a minute, yielding 160 noodle cakes per minute. Catalyst Manufacturing is currently experiencing major problems within the production line, resulting in large overhead costs and a vast number of defective products. 2009 year-end statistics indicate an average noodle loss (noodle cake and dough) of 7.94% against an allowed loss of 4%. Rework that could not be absorbed during 2009 amounted to 328 tons at a product value of R 3.8 million. The nature of this project will mainly focus on the application of simulation and management financing techniques applied in the production line at Catalyst Manufacturing. The goal of the project is to allocate weight to each individual problem to establish the financial overheads associated with each area. By means of this data, a variety of cost-efficient solutions can be generated to reduce the overall losses in the system. 2 TABLE OF CONTENTS Executive Summary ........................................................................................................ 1 Chapter 1 – Introduction.................................................................................................

  • Latinos | Creating Shopping Centers to Meet Their Needs May 23, 2014 by Anthony Pingicer
Latinos | Creating shopping centers to meet their needs May 23, 2014 by Anthony Pingicer Source: DealMakers.net One in every six Americans is Latino. Since 1980, the Latino population in the United States has increased dramatically from 14.6 million, per the Census Bureau, to exceeding 50 million today. This escalation is not just seen in major metropolitan cities and along the America-Mexico border, but throughout the country, from Cook County, Illinois to Miami-Dade, Florida. By 2050, the Latino population is projected to reach 134.8 million, resulting in a 30.2 percent share of the U.S. population. Latinos are key players in the nation’s economy. While the present economy benefits from Latinos, the future of the U.S. economy is most likely to depend on the Latino market, according to “State of the Hispanic Consumer: The Hispanic Market Imperative,” a report released by Nielsen, an advertising and global marketing research company. According to the report, the Latino buying power of $1 trillion in 2010 is predicted to see a 50 percent increase by next year, reaching close to $1.5 trillion in 2015. The U.S. Latino market is one of the top 10 economies in the world and Latino households in America that earn $50,000 or more are growing at a faster rate than total U.S. households. As for consumption trends, Latinos tend to spend more money per shopping trip and are also expected to become a powerful force in home purchasing during the next decade. Business is booming for Latinos. According to a study by the Partnership for a New Economy, the number of U.S.
