» subject to change THE EUROPEAN INDUSTRY IN CHALLENGING TIMES Pierre Gattaz, President, Business Europe, France For about a hundred years, the industry of Europe has always been wedged between two global super-regions, America and Asia. This position has always resulted in all types of cooperation and competition. For the past decade or so, however, this dynamic has intensified, with Europe trying to define, or redefine its role and perspective as an industrial powerhouse on its own - and in relation to other global areas. Pierre Gattaz will share his views.

Thursday, Pierre Gattaz became President of BusinessEurope on 5 July 2018. Until then, he held the January 31 Presidency of BusinessEurope’s French member federation MEDEF (Movement of French 9.10 AM - 9.40 PM Enterprises). He is a graduate of Telecom Bretagne (l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Bretagne) and holds a Certificate in Administrative Management from the George Washington University (USA). From June 2010 to July 2013, he was also President of the GFI (Group of Industrial Federations - 17 industrial federations representing 80% of French industry) and a founding member of La Fabrique (the Industry’s Think Tank). Pierre Gattaz is Knight of the French and Officer of the Order of Merit.

GLOBAL GROWTH STRATEGIES FOR COATINGS Charles Shaver, Chairman, Axalta Coatings Systems, United States of America Uncertain times, regulatory pressure and the need for continuous innovation while maintaining productivity levels: Supplying coatings in today`s world has become a challenge for any company, anywhere. Axalta, as a global leader, continues to excel, and Axalta`s Chairman will share his perspective on what strategies to pursue in the face of mega-trends, both old and new.

Thursday, Charles is Chairman at Axalta Coating Systems (NYSE: AXTA). He has spent more than 35 years January 31 in the global petrochemical, oil, and gas industry. From 2004 to 2011, prior to leading Axalta 9.40 AM - 10.20 AM and becoming it’s CEO, Charlie was Chief Executive Officer and President of the TPC Group. Recently he has assumed new responsibilities.

A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE: COATINGS IN CHINA Thierry Vanlancker, CEO, Akzo Nobel, The Netherlands For almost two decades, Shanghai Huayi China has grown into the world´s largest national coatings market, and continues to show attractive growth offering opportunities, both for domestic and foreign companies. Akzo Nobel has been particularly successful and built up a very significant presence in China with well-known brands like Dulux, Sikkens, Interpon and International. Thierry Vanlancker, CEO of Akzo Nobel, will share his view on trends and developments as well as his own experience with the fast-changing Chinese economy.

Thursday, January 31 Thierry Vanlancker, a Belgian national, joined Akzo Nobel in 2016. Before being appointed CEO 10.20 AM - 11.00 AM in 2017, he was responsible for the Specialty Chemicals business. Prior to 2016, he worked for DuPont and then Chemours. UNLOCKING NEW VALUE IN THE VALUE CHAIN Neil Carr, Business President, Dow, United States of America Dow has never fit neatly in the “materials supplier” category of the paints and coatings industry. After all, the company’s rich coatings pedigree launched from water-based acrylic emulsion technology that revolutionized the industry more than 60 years ago, and remains rich today thanks to a new lineup of technological “firsts” that place the company squarely at the forefront of consumer innovation. Yet in an age of rapid customer consolidation featuring players with both captive production and increasing R&D sophistication, what are the new drivers for growth? Neil Carr will address, and invite discussion on, the new value Thursday, January 31 (proposition) in the value chain. 11.30 AM - 12.10 PM

Neil Carr is the Business President for Dow`s global Coating Materials, Performance Monomers and Plastics Additives business portfolio. Carr also serves as President of Dow Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. He has had an extensive career as a leader of businesses and functional organizations for Fortune 500 companies in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries in both North America and Europe. This has included leadership positions for businesses including paints and coatings and specialty additives businesses, as well as for procurement and logistics support organizations.

REGIONAL LEADERSHIP AND MARKETING ADVANTAGE Patrick Houlihan, Managing Director & CEO, DuluxGroup, Australia Maintaining long term market leadership and growth in an established, ‘mature’ market demands continuous evolution. DuluxGroup has achieved exactly that in Australia and New Zealand. MD & CEO Patrick Houlihan will provide insights into the company’s strategic and operational approach. One key element is the ongoing commitment to marketing, which has translated into a tangible and sustained competitive advantage.

Thursday, Patrick has worked at DuluxGroup for 30 years and has led the company as the CEO for January 31 the last 12 years. Prior to that he spent nine years in senior marketing, sales and general 12.10 PM - 12.50 PM management roles. His initial career was in R&D and technology, largely during the period when the company was still part of the ICI Paints world group. DuluxGroup demerged from Orica Limited (the former ICI Australia) as a stand-alone listed company on the Australian Securities Exchange, in July 2010

FAST FORWARD: THE GROWTH OF A PLATFORM COMPANY Doug Mattscheck, President & CEO, ICP Group, United States of America Headquartered on the U.S. East coast, the Innovative Chemical Products (ICP) Group has risen through the ranks of American coatings manufacturers, rapidly and decisively. With a portfolio of architectural as well as industrial and specialty coatings, ICP pursues a path of organic growth and acquisitions, with the strategic vision of being a "platform company". President and CEO Doug Mattscheck will share a success story that focusses on aligning brands, scalable operations and, perhaps above all, innovation.

Thursday, January 31 Doug Mattscheck is a past President and Chief Executive Officer of AGY, one of the world’s 2.20 PM - 3.00 PM leading manufacturers of specialty glass fiber and related coatings and a past President of the Technical Fabrics Division of Saint-Gobain. He has held executive positions with H.B. Fuller, Schlegel Corporation, Quest Specialty Chemicals, and DuPont, before being appointed President and CEO of ICP Group. AGAINST ALL ODDS: FIGHTING OFF A TRIPLE THREAT Armodios Yannidis, CEO, Vitex-Yannidis, Greece The Greek paint manufacturer Vitex was facing no less than three very major challenges. First, the Greek financial crisis hit hard, then the company had to tackle its own debt issue. To make matters worse, the owning family was engulfed in an internal struggle. Other companies would have ended operations in some way or other, but Vitex prevailed, and thrived, and is now very much back in business. Armodios Yannidis will share a tale of resilience and relaunch.

Thursday, Armodios Yannidis has held managerial positions in the family owned Yannidis Group, which January 31 produces decorative paints, external thermal insulation composite systems, yacht coatings 3.00 PM - 3.40 PM and waterproofing materials, running production in Greece and commercial companies in Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria. Armodios is the CEO of the group.

IPPIC – ADVANCING THE INTERESTS OF THE GLOBAL COATINGS INDUSTRY Andy Doyle, President & CEO, American Coatings Association, United States of America In light of ever more stringent regulations and an increasingly complex global trade and relationship infrastructure, both opportunities and challenges abound. The International Paint and Printing Ink Council (IPPIC), as the world`s umbrella federation comprising coatings associations from all regions of the globe and co-host of the Coatings Summit, provides policy, guidance, harmonization and solutions for the international coatings industry. The American Coatings Association serves as IPPIC`s Secretariat, and their President and CEO will provide an exclusive update on the challenges confronting the global coatings industry and how IPPIC Thursday, January 31 is responding. 4.15 PM - 4.45 PM

ACA is a founding member the International Paint and Printing Ink Council and Andy Doyle has led ACA for more than 30 years.

RECOVERY AND INNOVATION: THE JAPANESE COATINGS INDUSTRY Tetsushi Tado, President, Nippon Paint Holdings, Japan The coatings industry of Japan looks back on some challenging times, but is once again optimistic and future-oriented. Leading companies impress the world with bold innovations and a policy towards international markets. Tetsushi Tado will provide an exclusive insight into one of the most important coatings markets of the world.

Tetsushi Tado is the Representative Director and President of Nippon Paint Holdings. Also, he Friday, is currently the President of the Japanese Paint Manufacturers Association (JPMA). February 1 9.10 AM - 9.50 AM THE INDUSTRIAL COATINGS MARKET IN CHINA Yin Xu, Chairman, Xiangjiang Paint Group, People's Republic of China Established in 1950, Xiangjiang Paint has grown into a leading private manufacturer of high-quality coatings. The headquarters are in Changsha, the capital of Hunan province. Chairman Xu will outline the Chinese market for industrial coatings, which his company continues to shape. He will also explain how his Joint Venture with Kansai is part of his overall growth strategy.

Friday, Yin Xu is the the Chairman of Xiangjiang Paint Group. February 1 9.50 AM - 10.30 AM

STRATEGIC SUCCESS STORY: MERGING FOR GROWTH Paula Salastie, Owner and CEO, Teknos Group, Finland Teknos, a leading coatings manufacturer from Europe, can proudly refer to a history of recent mergers and acquisitions that have propelled the company forward. Paula Salastie, Owner and CEO, will share her vision and guiding principles in this highly successful endeavor.

Paula Salastie joined Teknos in 1999 as a member of the owning family. In 2011 she became Chairperson of the Board, and then CEO in 2015. Friday, February 1 11.00 AM - 11.40 AM COATINGS: A CONSERVATIVE INDUSTRY? Daniel Llinás Sala, CEO, Titanlux, Spain The image of the coatings industry, while improving as regards economic contribution and environmental responsibility, leaves something to be desired: It is not always considered innovative, agile, cool. Daniel Llinás Sala, heading a Spanish-based manufacturer, will speak his mind and explain why he thinks there is some truth in that and, more importantly, how to get on the right track. Not only would this bolster the industry`s self-esteem, it would also improve the regulatory climate and help to attract new talent.

Friday, February 1 Daniel Llinás holds a degree in industrial engineering and a MBA. He has previous 11.40 AM - 12.20 PM management experience in the packaging and building materials industry. He was appointed CEO of Industrias Titan in February 2017.

SPOUSE PROGRAM: VERSAILLES DAY TRIP January 31, 2019 | 9.00 AM - 4.00 PM approx. The Palace of Versailles has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for 30 years and is one of the greatest achievements in French 17th century art. Louis XIII's old hunting pavilion was transformed and extended by his son, Louis XIV, when he installed the Court and government there in 1682. A succession of kings continued to embellish the Palace up until the French Revolution in 1789. The palace is now a French Historic Monument, notable especially for the ceremonial Hall of Mirrors, the jewel-like Opera theater, royal apartments; and the vast Gardens of Versailles with fountains, canals, and geometric flower beds laid out by André le Nôtre. The Palace was stripped of all its furnishings after the French Revolution, but many pieces have been returned and many of the palace rooms have been restored. Today the Palace contains 2,300 rooms spread over 63,154 sqm. Whilst you will not be able to view all of them, the guide dedicated to your small group will take you to the real highlights of the palace. You will also enjoy lunch at a local restaurant during this day trip.
