June 25 Lodi - Very tart June type apple that cooks well and does not keep. Applesauce and pies. July 10 Earli-Gold - Very tart June type apple that cooks well and keeps better than Lodi. Great for applesauce and pies. This apple is our personal choice for making applesauce. July 15 Monarch - Very tart red apple that cooks well and keeps up to 4 weeks. Applesauce and pies. July 15 thru P E A C H E S - You will love the Kentucky sweetness. Juicy! due to the past winter freeze --Aug 20 we will have limited peach crop for 2021. July 25 Sansa - Sweet flavor, similar to Gala. Great for fresh eating. Aug. 10 Mollies Delicious - Resembles red delicious in appearance only. This summer apple is large and has perfumed flesh. Great for fresh eating and salads; Zestar- Sweet and tangy. Aug. 10 Ginger Gold - Sweet with yellow and green appearance. All purpose. Aug. 20 Gala - Has an outstanding spicy sweet flavor that is great for fresh eating or salads. Aug. 25 McIntosh - Old variety that is still in great demand. Distinct tart sweet flavor, soft skinned and juicy. Loses shape when cooked and is great for sauce, pies, apple butter and jelly. Aug. 25 Honey Crisp - Sweet & crunchy, full of flavor. Great for fresh eating. Aug. 30 Jonathan - Tart & all purpose; Sweet Sixteen- Sweet, full of flavor. Sept. 1 Cortland - A McIntosh type. Flesh is white, semi-tart and distinctive. Resist browning. Sept. 5 Daybreak - Sweet summer apple with similar taste to Fuji. Sept. 10 Dolly Rose - Sweet, apple we found in our row of empire trees, Ky original! Sept. 10 Melrose - Large Jonathan type, fresh eating, apple butter, salads and pies. Sept. 10 Pixie Crunch - A delightful little sweet & crunchy apple. Sept. 10 Empire - Red McIntosh type. Sweet & tart tasting. Great for lunches, also cooking. Sept. 10 Grimes Golden - Old southern favorite. Great for eating, frying, pies, etc.; Red Spy. Aug. – Oct. P E A R S - Asian & European, including Kosui (early Aug.), Maxine & Magness (late Aug.), Chojuro (early Sept.), Harrow Sweet & Meigeitsu (mid Sept.), Olympic Giant (late Sept. & Oct.), Asian pears are round in shape, crunchy & sweet. PEAR LOSS FOR 2021 DUE TO SPRING FREEZE. Call before driving out. Sept. 15 Golden Delicious - Picked tree ripe which makes this delicious varietiy superb. Sept. 15 Jonagold - Red over yellow. Largest selling apple in Europe for years. Crisp & sweet. Sept. 15 Liberty - Very tart. Good for fresh eating (if you like tart), pies, sauce & apple butter. Sept. 20 Golden Russet - Sweet, rusty golden; Hidden Rose – Yellow with pink flesh. Sept. 20 Ida Red - Large red semi-tart, smooth texture. Great for baking & sauces. Sept. 25 Cameo, Ben Davis - Sweet early fall apples. Sept. 25 Stayman Winesap - Old time favorite, somewhat tart & great for cooking, pies, etc. Sept. 25 Stark Winesap – Similar to Stayman with a smoother skin; Roxbury Russett. Sept. 25 Suncrisp – Sweet & tangy, golden with good storage. All purpose. Sept. 25 Mutsu (aka Crispin) - Yellow variety, originated from Japan. Superior flavor. October: Enterprise, York, Rome, Winter Red Flesh, Crimson Crisp, Lady. Oct. 10 Gold Rush - Tart and firm, rush your taste buds with flavor! All purpose and long keeper. Oct. 10 Fuji - Dull red over pale green. Richly sweet and aromatic flesh. Long keeper. Oct. 20 Granny Smith - Tart & long keeper; Brushy Mountian – Small & rustic. Oct. 20 Arkansas Black - Dark red old south favorite, long keeper, best eaten after January 1st. Nov. 10 Pink Lady – Crunchy with a complex tart sweet flavor. Long Keeper; Sundowner. Apples For best storage place in a clear zip lock plastic bag and keep in the fridge! 2021 NEW Orchard Hours: Monday, Wed., Friday, Saturday (9:30am—4:00pm) We are closed on Tuesday, Thursday & Sunday Country store open June 14—October 30 For updates visit Facebook - Reed Valley Orchard Directions: #1- from Lexington at New Circle Rd. travel Russell Cave Road (Rt. 353) for 16 miles, turn right on Townsend Valley Rd., go 2½ miles turn left on Lail Lane, follow signs to orchard. #2- from Lexington on Paris Pike (Route 27 & 68), come to Paris by-pass and turn left. Follow Paris by-pass until it splits and stay on 27 North toward Cynthiana. Travel 5.4 miles, turn left on Townsend Valley Road, travel 2 miles, turn right on Lail Lane, follow signs to Reed Valley Orchard and country store.
