July 7 – Ernie Goss, Ph.D. The Federal COVID-19 Rescue Plan: Killing the Golden Goose to Save the Egg

According to Creighton's two monthly surveys, one of Mid-America manufacturers and one of Rural Mainstreet bank CEOs, the economy of the mid-section of the nation has fallen into the most significant downturn since the Great Depression. Goss will discuss the findings from the most recent surveys identifying the economic challenges and opportunities facing Mid-America and Rural Mainstreet. A significant portion of the presentation will be centered on the federal government's and Federal Reserve's rescue actions and their impact on future economic growth.

July 14 – Nathan Kauffman, Ph.D. Heavy Steps Forward to Economic Recovery

Following the longest economic expansion on record, the shock of the past few months has been severe. Recent data have confirmed the far-reaching economic effects related to COVID-19 as families everywhere have sought to adjust to dramatic changes. In Nebraska, economic deterioration has been less pronounced than that of other regions and, at times, showing gradual improvement. However, some industries and segments of the population have been affected more notably than others. This session will describe how economic conditions in Nebraska have evolved since the onset of the crisis, recognizing that steps forward have been heavy, and the path to recovery may require more patience than initially imagined.

July 21 – Ed Seifried, Ph.D. Let’s Take A Deep Dive Into The Economy

Dr. Ed Seifried will provide a special LBM Economic update, including the most recent 2020(I) GDP Data. Dr. Seifried will try to make sense of the unprecedented policies that have been set forth by the Federal Reserve during recent weeks; he will include a review of new stories related to the Coronavirus crisis; he will discuss the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis; he will discuss the question of it isn’t whether there will be a recession but how deep and how long it will be; and he will list and definite the new and emerging terms and vocabulary that business executives must understand to navigate the new policy world after conditions return to normal.

July 28 – Brian Wesbury Coronavirus Update & Economic Outlook

Brian Wesbury reviews the latest data on the Coronavirus, shares his insights on current events and discusses the potential impact on the economy and financial markets. Brian’s main focuses are economic forecasting and macroeconomics. He has made frequent appearances on Bloomberg TV, CNBC, , and Fox Business. For five years he served as an adjunct professor of economics at Wheaton College in Wheaton, .
