The Cultural Trail welcomes everyone, is free to use and is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Trail includes art, 5 acres of public gardens, Pacers Bikeshare and connects users to dynamic public gathering spaces along your journey. The Cultural Trail is managed by a non-profit organization, Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. Why is the Indianapolis Cultural Trail expanding? ● Connecting neighborhoods and cultural amenities ● Improve quality of life ● Increase bicycle and pedestrian safety ● Building connections to art, nature, and each other Where is the Indianapolis Cultural Trail expanding? Adding 2 segments of Trail: Indiana Ave & 10th Street South Street INDIANA AVENUE/10TH ST SEGMENT Along Indiana Avenue, Trail expansion will begin at the Walker Legacy Center and continue north to 10th Street. On 10th Street, the Trail will turn west and connect to the planned bridge leading to the 16 Tech Innovation District. Indiana Avenue/10th St Segment Connecting people and places The expansion along Indiana Avenue and 10th Street will a provide a safe and beautiful connection to near west and northwest side neighborhoods by connecting to the: ● planned Fall Creek Trail expansion, ● existing White River/Wapahani Trail (which ultimately connects to Riverside Park and the Central Canal Towpath to north), ● planned 16Tech Trail, ● Eskenazi Wellness Trail ● planned expansion of the B&O Trail. The Cultural Trail will also increase safety for bikes and pedestrians in the area by dramatically improving crosswalks and improved signal timing throughout the corridor, but in particular at the intersection of Indiana Ave, 10th St., and University Blvd, where the Cultural Trail will connect to the Fall Creek Trail. Indiana Avenue/10th St Segment Connecting to our city’s culture The Cultural Trail expansion will incorporate historical cultural assets in the Black and African American community, including the Madam Walker Legacy Center. The Cultural Trail expansion will be a physical connection to the Indiana Ave corridors. Indiana Avenue/10th St Segment SOUTH STREET SEGMENT Along South Street, the Indianapolis Cultural Trail will connect from New Jersey Street to Capitol Avenue, improving access to Lucas Oil Stadium, the Convention Center, CityWay, and Near Southside neighborhoods. South Street Segment Connecting people and places The expansion segment is a critical one because it will connect two existing sections of the Cultural Trail and start to connect Stadium Village and the Near Southside neighborhoods to the rest of the city. The South Street expansion will further the original goal of the Cultural Trail to connect cultural districts by strengthening the Cultural Trail connection from the Fountain Square district to the Wholesale district. South Street Segment What is the timeline for expansion?
