FREE PRINCE: ULTIMATE PDF Prince | 168 pages | 08 Feb 2011 | Hal Leonard Corporation | 9781617741814 | English | Milwaukee, United States Prince Official Discography: Ultimate Prince - Compilations Ultimate Prince: Ultimate is a greatest hits album by American recording artist Prince. It was released on August 22, by Prince: Ultimate Bros. The two-disc set contains a disc of some previously released hits some in single edit form; only " My Name Is Prince " had not been on a previous hits collectionand another of extended remixes of hits and a B-sidemost of which had only been previously released as inch singles. The album was originally slated to be released in North America on March 14,Prince: Ultimate was canceled just days before its release. This Prince: Ultimate likely due to Prince not wanting competition with his newscheduled to be released only one week later. However, promo copies of the album had already been sent to some retailers and were sold before the album's recall. A second release date of May 22 was proposed, but was again canceled and the album's future was unknown for a time. Three months later, it was officially released on August 22, to generally positive reviews. The album debuted at number 61 on the Billboard the week of September 9, ; the next week it dropped to number one hundred twenty-three. The week following Prince's death the album sold 40, units and hit a new peak of four on the Billboard during the week of May 14, ; it was the first time that Ultimate rose into the top 10 of the chart. In the United Kingdom the album opened at number 24 on September 2, ; the next week, it fell to number 29 and left the chart three weeks later. Adapted from the AllMusic credits. The promo features a few songs not on the official release, Prince: Ultimate it excludes the "Let's Work" remix. The two disc version is speculated to be the first track listing; Prince later changed the track listing to remove some of the Prince: Ultimate language. And what a year it was! The year had barely begun when we were already saying goodbye to musical heroes gone far too soon. David Bowie, Leonard Cohen, Glenn Frey, Leon Russell, Maurice White, Prince, George Michael ... the list goes on. And yet, despite the sadness of these losses, there is much for the industry to celebrate. Music consumption is at an all-time high. Overall consumption of album sales, song sales and audio on-demand streaming volume is up 5% over 2015, fueled by an incredible 203% increase in on-demand audio streams, enough to offset declines in sales and return a positive year for the business. 2016 also marked the highest vinyl sales total to date. It was an incredible year for Canadian artists, at home and abroad. Eight different Canadian artists had #1 albums in 2016, led by Drake whose album Views was the biggest album of the year in Canada as well as the U.S. The Tragically Hip had two albums reach the top of the chart as well, their latest release and their 2005 best of album, and their emotional farewell concert in August was something we’ll remember for a long time. Justin Bieber, Billy Talent, Céline Dion, Shawn Mendes, Leonard Cohen and The Weeknd also spent time at #1. Break out artist Alessia Cara as well as accomplished superstar Michael Buble also enjoyed successes this year.

Despite its stylistic coherence, Prince throws a few curve balls, tossing in a sly wink to "Kiss" on "Stare" and opening the album with "Baltimore," a Black Lives Matter protest anthem where his outrage is palpable even beneath the slow groove. That said, even the hardest-rocking tracks here -- that would be the glammy "Screwdriver," a track that would've been an outright guitar workout if cut with 3rdEyeGirl -- is more about the rhythm than the riff. Compared to the relative restlessness of HITnRUN: Phase One, not to mention the similarly rangy Art Official Age, this single-mindedness is initially overwhelming but like any good groove record, HITnRUN: Phase Two winds up working best over the long haul, providing elegant, supple mood music whose casualness plays in its favor. Prince isn't showing off, he's settling in, and there are considerable charms in hearing a master not trying so hard.
