A Fair Trade - Experiential Encounter Tour of Palestine LAND OF BEAUTY AND CONFLICT

Tour operated by Alternative Tourism Group (ATG) and Fair Trade Artisans (BFTA) www.bethlehemfairtrade.org& www.atg.ps Join us on an amazing 9-day (8-night) journey to discover the beauty of Palestinian artisan crafts and enjoy sites often hidden from a usual tour. Our tour is unique and includes a variety of cultural, natural and religious experiences as we journey across Palestine. Our two available dates to sign up for this amazing tour 22/3/2019 21/6/2019

· Day 1: Arrival at Ben Gurion airport, Tel Aviv, and head to Bethlehem. · Meet our representative at the airport and transfer to Beit Sahour. · Welcoming and orientation of program. Then meet your host families from Beit Sahour who will welcome you into their homes and family life. Dinner and Overnight with host families.

· Day 2: The start of your amazing journey Breakfast with host families in Beit Sahour. · Half day at BFTA’s Craft Village spend the morning enjoying the beauty of the renovated old histori- cal building, enjoy the facilities our Craft Village has to offer, learn about BFTA’s work and then drive to meet local artisans at their workshop sand learn their real stories. · Visit the Shepherds’ Field in Beit Sahour · Drive to Bethlehem and enjoy a falafel lunch at the famous Afteem restaurant · Visit the Nativity Church and Manger Square. · Visit the famous Banksy ‘Walled Off’ Hotel and museum, look at some of Banksy’s amazing art, and check out the impact of the Separation Wall. · Enjoy an amazing evening with traditional Dabkeh dancing and delicious authentic Palestinian food at a traditional restaurant. Overnight with host families in Beit Sahour. · Day 3: Welcome to , a hub for Palestinian trade Breakfast with host families in Beit Sahour. · Visit “Together For Life” organization – L’Arche – handmade felt products in Bethlehem · Drive to Hebron to visit Alsalam Glass factory and learn more about the beautiful ceramics and recy- cled glass industry and how it got involved with Fair Trade. · Lunch in Idna with women cooperative association · Visit the of Hebron and the Ibrahimi mosque at the heart of the old city. · Enjoy the rest of the day touring the old city of Hebron and learn more about a city that is considered to be a hub for Palestinian trade. Back to Beit Sahour for Dinner and Overnight with host families.

· Day 4: A journey to , known as the ‘Uncrowned Queen of Palestine’ Breakfast with host families in Beit Sahour. · We will start with a drive up to Mt. Gerizim to meet the Samaritan Community living there, one of oldest communities in the Middle East. Then continue to visit Jacob’s Well Church. · We will visit the old city of Nablus and visit to Nablus Soap factory one of the oldest soap factories in Palestine, learn their story and enjoy the amazing atmosphere · Lunch in Nablus followed by famous Kinafeh for dessert as we walk around the beautiful old city of Nablus. · Finish your day off at an amazing Turkish bath where you can relax, be pampered and have fun. Dinner and overnight at a local hotel in Nablus. · Day 5: Palestinian Fair Trade here we come! A day in & Sebastya Breakfast at your hotel in Nablus. · Start the day with a short visit to Burqin Church. · Next to Burqin Church visit Canaan Fair Trade to learn and taste delicious Palestinian Olive Oil. · Visit a women’s cooperation in Zababeh to learn how to roll & cook delicious Maftool (Palestinian couscous) and dine with the Palestinian women chefs. · Visit to the famous Jenin Freedom Theater and the refugee camp of Jenin. · Head to Um Al-Tut Nature Reserve, a beautiful geographical reserve.

· Continue to Sebastya to visit the famous archaeological site, where the ruins of the Roman city of Herod the Great stands.

Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Nablus.

· Day 6: The beauty of and mosaic art Breakfast at your hotel in Nablus. · We start our day by driving through Beithan Valley to reach Jeftlik village and learn about the farmers’ situation there. · Continue to visit Jericho’s most amazing historical sites Hisham’s Palace & visit the Mount of Temp- tation by cable car! · Visit to Jericho’s Mosaic Center where you will have the chance to custom make your own mosaic master piece, that you will take home as an amazing souvenir to remember your journey by. · Visit Majdoul and Bahri dates’ factory to discover the secret behind this delicious beneficial fruit made in Palestine. · In the world oldest city visit the last Palestinian salt producing factory for an amazing Dead Sea expe- rience in Jericho.

Dinner and Overnight in Bethlehem. · Day 7: ; the City of History Breakfast at the hotel In Bethlehem · Drive to Jerusalem- tour to the Al Alaqsa Mosque, Dome of the Rock, Via Dolorosa and the church of Holy Sepulchre. · We visit the Burj Al Luqluq social center society, and learn the production process for beautiful handmade ceramic designs. · We stop for a street snack of Kaek al-Quds. · After lunch, by bus, we visit Mount of Olives, the Church of Mary’s Tomb, Gethsemane Church and Pater Noster Church. · Back to Bethlehem.

Dinner and Overnight in Bethlehem.

· Day 8: Hiking, reflections and supporting Fair Trade in Palestine Breakfast at the hotel In Bethlehem · Visit Alrashayda Bedouin community to check out the fascinating landscape & desert life, check out the beautiful hand-made felt designs produced by Bedouin women. · Hike in the landscape of southern Jerusalem and explore the village of – the land of olives and vines followed by Lunch in Battir. · Return to BFTA to reflect on this journey of a lifetime while dinning delicious cooked meals at the fair trade dinning area. · Overnight in Bethlehem. · Day 9: The end of an amazing journey Drive to Tel Aviv- Ben Gurion airport to catch your flight and head home.
