What does this chart mean? MCLG - Maximum Contaminant Level Goal, or the level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MCLGs allow for a margin of safety. MCL - Maximum Contaminant Level, or the highest level of a contaminant that is allowed in drinking water. MCLs are set as close to the MCLGs as feasible using the best available treatment technology. To understand the possible health eff ects described for many regulated constituents, a person would have to drink 2 liters of water every day at the MCL level for a lifetime to have a one-in-a-million chance of having the described health eff ect. MRDL: Maximum Residual Disinfectant Level or MRDL: The highest level of a disinfectant allowed in drinking water. There is convincing evidence that addition of a disinfectant is necessary for the control of microbial contaminants. MRDLG: Maximum residual disinfectant level goal. The level of a drinking water disinfectant below which there is no known or expected risk to health. MRDLGs do not refl ect the benefi ts of the use of disinfectants to control microbial contaminants. AL - Action Level, or the concentration of a contaminant which, when exceeded, triggers treatment or other requirements which a water system must follow. Parts per million (ppm) or Milligrams per liter (mg/l) – explained as a relation to time and money as one part per million corresponds to one minute in two years or a single penny in $10,000. Parts per billion (ppb) or Micrograms per liter - explained as a relation to time and money as one part per billion corresponds to one minute in 2,000 years, or a single penny in $10,000,000. TT - Treatment Technique, or a required process intended to reduce the level of a contaminant in drinking water.

During the most recent round of Lead and Copper testing, only out of 20 households sampled contained concentrations exceeding the action level. 199.63% of our samples were below the turbidity limit. 2We have met all treatment technique requirements for Total Organic Carbon removal.

Every year the Consumer Confi dence Report (CCR) must be prepared and presented to the State of Tennessee, Division of Water Resources (DOWR) for approval. The 2014 CCR was submitt ed and corrections were suggested by the DOWR. The Town of Woodbury made the corrections and printed the 2014 CCR in the Cannon Courier. However we did not submit the corrected CCR back to the DOWR for approval. It also must be present in fi nal form with all forms and verifi cations to the DOWR by October the 1st and that deadline came and passed before we submitt ed our 2014 CCR to the DOWR. A writt en calendar of events with all testing and deadlines is being created to correct this problem PAGE 12 CANNON COURIER JUNE 8, 2016 Cannon County Schools Walking Clubs

Cannon County Schools Walking Clubs are winding down for the season. Four schools have participated this year and our students walked a grand total of approximately 3,611.68 miles. Totals do not include miles walked by our parents, sponsors, and volunteers that keep this program alive and well. We have around 190 students participating between the 4 clubs, each receiving a healthy snack and a lot of love from those individuals that give up their time each week to ensure that children create healthy habits that will last a lifetime.

Sodom and Gomorrah Three angels visited Abraham, God's hand-picked founder of his chosen nation, Israel. They came dis- uised as men, travelers along the road. Two of them went down to Sodom and Gomorrah, to observe rsthand the wickedness in those cities.

The other visitor, who was the Lord, stayed behind. He revealed to Abraham that he was going to estroy the cities because of the evil ways of their people. Abraham, a special friend of the Lord, began o bargain with God to spare the cities if there were righteous people in them.

First, Abraham asked if the Lord would spare the cities if 50 righteous people lived there. The Lord said es. Boldly, Abraham kept bargaining down, until God agreed not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah if even ten righteous people lived there. Then the Lord departed.

When the two angels arrived at Sodom that evening, Abraham's nephew Lot met them at the city gate.

Lot and his family lived in Sodom. He took the two men to his home and fed them.

Then all the men of the city surrounded Lot's house and said, "Where are the men who came to you onight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." (Genesis 19:5, NIV)

By ancient custom, the visitors were under Lot's protection. Lot was so infected by the wickedness of Sodom that he offered the homosexuals his two virgin daughters instead. Furious, the mob rushed up o break down the door.

The angels struck the rioters blind! Leading Lot, his wife, and two daughters by the hand, the angels urried them out of the city. The girls' fiancés would not listen and stayed behind.

Lot and his family fled to a tiny village called Zoar. The Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah, destroying the buildings, the people, and all the vegetation in the plain. Using mirrors, check the front and backside of your entire body, including the tops and undersides of your arms and hands, between your toes and the soles of your feet, your neck, scalp and butt ocks. Be on the lookout for new growths, moles that have changed, or sores that don’t heal. Follow the ABCDE rule when examining suspicious moles. Asymmetry: One half of a mole doesn’t match the other. Border: The border is blurred or ragged. Color: The mole has uneven colors, often shades of brown, tan or black, with patches of pink, red, white or blue. Diameter: The lesion is new or at least a quarter-inch in diameter. Evolving: The mole is changing in size, shape or color. For more self-examination tips and actual pictures of what to look for, see SkinCancer.org or Melanoma.org. In the spring and summer, there are a variety of places that off er free skin cancer screenings. Check with the American Academy of Dermatology (888-462-3376, aad.org/public/spot- skin-cancer), which off ers screenings done by hundreds of volunteer dermatologists across the U.S., and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (asds.net/skincancerscreening. aspx). Sun Protection Even though you can’t change your skin or family history, there are some proven strategies that can help you protect yourself. For starters, avoid tanning beds, and when you go outside, slather on broad-spectrum SPF 30, water-resistant sunscreen on both sunny and cloudy days. If you don’t like the rub-on lotions, try the continuous spray-on sunscreens which are easier to apply and re-apply and less messy. Also, seek the shade when rays are most intense – between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. You can also protect your skin by wearing a wide-brimmed hat, and long sleeves and pants when possible. The best clothing options are tightly-woven fabric that help prevent the sun’s rays from reaching your skin, or you can wash-in an invisible shield sun protection into your cloths with SunGuard laundry additive (see sunguardsunprotection.com). You can even buy a variety of lightweight clothing and hats that off er maximum UV. WORD SEARCH ANSWERS CROSSWORD SUDOKU PAGE 20 CANNON COURIER JUNE 8, 2016
