The course will cover classification, packing, marking/labeling (including the new lithium battery mark and label), documentation, and related exceptions as well as used or damaged batteries. MONDAY, MAY 1, 2017 Overcoming Regulatory Roadblocks Course 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM This course will focus on how to overcome regulatory roadblocks utilizing regulatory requirements as outlined in the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) incorporated in the 49 CFR. Utilizing the 49 CFR and the PHMSA website, this course provides guidance on how to search for letters of interpretation, obtain a letter of interpretation, how to structure a government approval and special permit request, how to obtain an accurate safety data sheet, and what questions to ask a manufacturer. Prerequisite: A working knowledge of the 49 CFR Code of Federal Regulations.
