Think sport can Foreword EHF President Dear friends, bring Welcome to the 2020/21 season of the DELO EHF Champions League and the start of its new era.

As most of the sport competitions across the globe in the previous season, the DELO EHF Champions League did not ³nish as we all hoped due to the Covid-19 outbreak. However, the EHF and EHF Marketing invested time during the break to prepare for the forthcoming together. season with the aim of developing the competition as the benchmark event in the indoor PEOPLE together. sports market. The 28th season of the European top-flight in 2020/21 will open a new chapter, when the new partnership with Infront and DAZN comes into effect and, from the fans’ point of view, there are two major developments:

But The DELO EHF Champions League will be played in a new system with just 16 elite teams in two groups of eight, starting directly at the group phase played in a round-robin league format. There will be no quali³cation rounds or tournaments before. The top four teams in tthinkhink each group will then qualify directly for the quarter-³nals with teams ³nishing in seventh and eighth place eliminated. The four remaining teams from each group (3rd-6th) will qualify for a play-off round, before progressing to the quarter-³nals and then the EHF FINAL4.

In addition, from the start of this season, fans will have an ‘appointment to view’ each week, responsibly. and with no overlap of men’s and women’s top competitions. After a long break, all 16 teams will be eager to be back playing at the highest level of European handball with the beginning of an exciting journey with a brand-new winners’ trophy as the prize at the competition’s conclusion. CSM BUCHAREST MEETS FTC-RAIL CARGO HUNGARIA FOR THE 7th TIME IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS

The female handball team of CSM Bucharest is scheduled to play on Sunday, October 18, in the Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest, the Hungarian team FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria.

This game is part of the DELO EHF Champions League 5th round in Group A. After four rounds our team is on the fourth place with four points, only two points behind the group leader, Vipers Kristiansand after losing only one game so far, this season, last weekend in Norway.

FTC-Rail Cargo has two points from only two rounds played, one loss against Rostov-Don (26-25) and one win against (24-21), the other two scheduled games being postponed (against and Vipers Kristiansand).

CSM Bucharest also has one game due, against Rostov-Don, initially scheduled in the 3rd round of the competition.

The two teams know each other very well, as they played six times in the last four seasons. The only season where the two teams haven’t met is the 2017-2018 one.

In the 2016-2017 edition of the EHF Women’s Champions League CSM Bucharest won both home and away games in the quarter finals (30-25 in Bucharest and 27-26 in Budapest). Two years later, the same scenario played out, with CSM Bucharest winning 36-31 at home and 34-28 in the away game in the first leg of the Group Stages.

The last match-up between the two teams took place last season, in the competition’s Main Round, when FTC-Rail Cargo Hungaria managed to win their home game, 33-23, but lost in Bucharest, 27-24.

With all the changes that are taking place at a global level right now, unfortunately the game will again take place without the great fans that CSM Bucharest has, the event being held without any spectators due to the Covid-19 measures in place.

The game is scheduled on Sunday, October 18, starting at 17:00 (local time) and it will be live on three TV channels: Digi Sport, Telekom Sport and Look Sport. CSM București România
